I am using arcgis 10.8.2 and I would like to estimate the least cost path between points. I am using a DTM with two lakes and I would exclude these from the least cost path estimation. I made some proofs generating the slope from the dtm, using the path distance tool with the vertical factor (tobler’s hiking function) and then using the cost path tool to obtain the network path. The result took into consideration the lakes passing partially through them. I would exclude the two water basins from the estimation, thus considering just the territory. Thanks

I used to process the same data in Arcmap 10 and I've never had this problem. How can I fix it? I attached an image of the result. Thank you in advance thank you, I already posted in the ArcMap Community. Sorry

Hi, I am working with ArcGIS 10.1 and I am trying to figure out some landscape analysis on group movement in an area. I read that it is possible to generate friction surface using calories expended based on slope and stream crossing. It could be interesting for me, in order to create a cost of movement surface. Could someone give me some tips on it? Thank you in advance.

I am using ArcMap 10.1, I am getting some trouble because of the alignment between the raster (slope) and its coastline (shapefile). They seem to have the same coordinates, but there is no match. Here the shapefile data (geometry type - Line): Projected Coordinate System: WGS_1984_UTM_Zone_33N Projection: Transverse_Mercator False_Easting: 500000,00000000 False_Northing: 0,00000000 Central_Meridian: 15,00000000 Scale_Factor: 0,99960000 Latitude_Of_Origin: 0,00000000 Linear Unit: Meter Geographic Coordinate System: GCS_WGS_1984 Datum: D_WGS_1984 Prime Meridian: Greenwich While attached you will find the slope spatial reference and a sample of the overlapping between both. Could someone help me? thank you in advance

Thank you for your answer... I tried with Con and Set Null tools, firstly I converted my polygon to raster (setting for the extent and the snap the slope), then I use Map Algebra using the expression "Con (IsNull (polytoraster), slope, 0)" (output Slope_Con) and afterwards I used the new raster in the SetNull tool setting as input conditional raster "Slope_Con", expression "value=0" and input false raster or constant value "Slope_Con". The result was what I wanted.

I use ArcGIS 10.1, I am trying to generate a cost surface (Path Distance tool) in order to generate a least-cost path. The problem is that I would exclude a specific area of the raster from the calculation. I tried to remove it with the tool Clip, but it didn't work (it took away the interested raster portion leaving just the useless one). Do you have a suggestion?

Hello, I am using ArcGIS 10.1 and I am trying to use the contour tool in order to get isochrones on a time cost raster. The raster has been estimated in the raster calculator by summing the path distance outcomes (the first one using as vertical values the Tobler's function "AWAY", so from the one point to the others; the second using the Tobler' function "TOWARDS", so from all the points to the source). The resulting raster has been converted from hours to minutes by multiplying for 60 in the raster calculator. Since I would know how many time it takes to reach a specific land portion or other points, I generated the contour lines at the intervals of 30 (minuntes, in this case) in order to get a visual insight about that. The problem is that the contour lines consider as reachable in the same minute range also point placed at several kilometres away from the source point. To make clear, in the attached image, the blue contour line considers as reachable in 90 minutes the cell raster placed at 40 km from the source point (blue point). How is it possible? I presume that it occurred some problem in the contour/surface raster estimation. Has someone some clue or suggestion? Thank you in advance.

Hello, I use ArcGIS 10.1 and I would like to create a suitability map using the multicriteria analysis. Let me point out that I am new of this analysis and I tried to read something about it, but it is not very clear for me... I would use data as geomorphology, pedology, superficial water (rivers), groundwater in order to generate the new map. Could someone give me some tips on how to precess these data (individualy and all together)? Thank you in advance

Mody Buchbinder Well, because I want to fix the visibility on the land/skyscape within these range. Therefore, being 90 degrees a fixed value I can’t type a bigger value, right?

Mody Buchbinder thank you for replying me, I meant that I need to set Vert1 as 0 and Vert2 as 180. I tried setting these parameters but the tool gave me error, so I presumed that it was because of the 180degrees angle value.

I use ArcGiS 10.1 and I am doing some visibility analysis by using the viewshed tool. I need to set the vertical angle (VERT1-2) within a range between 0 and 180, but this parameter is enclosed between 90 and -90 so it didn’t permit me to calculate the visibility. Is there some way to perform this calculation?

thank you for your suggestion, I uploaded the sample tiff and a csv sample tile in order to have an idea on my data. The tiff is originated from the csv in CloudCompare software. Moreover, I tried the tools that you suggested but the result is the same (see fig.)
