Hi, all As well known, both map tiles and vector tiles are playing foundation role in IoT-driven business ecosystems like core OT, Smart City and Smart Oilfield. Owing to the high-level requirements of reliability and security, however, those operational ecosystems are highly required to minimize IT dependences, such as 3rd-party server-side services, including GIS servers in map space (2D, 3D) and mapping servers in image space (drone mapping, mobile mapping). So, we have to effectively provide reliable location data packages for those ecosystems, saying, image tiles, vector tiles … Regarding vector tiles within ArcGIS ecosystem, we are facing two issues now, which expect to be solved through the following: looking forward to some built-in GP tools, which could be used for effective generation of vector tiles within desktop ArcGIS Pro without using 'vectortileserver', and then can be updated/ merged / imported into existing vector tiles, similar to 'image tile cache'; hoping that ‘existing’ vector tiles earlier generated/ updated by ArcGIS Pro would be directly manageable across ArcGIS ecosystem, including ArcGIS servers and also accessible via ArcGIS APIs/ SDK (Python, JS, Java), beyond 'vector tile package' (.vtpk) by SDK for .Net. So, pls ArcGIS teams (Pro, Server, Developer) advise: to meet this type of scenarios, what strategies ArcGIS have, including implementation of GP tool in Pro (saying, ‘GenerateVectorTiles’) and flexible deployment of vector tiles (saying, ArcGIS SDK for Java, in addition to ArcGIS servers)? any other suggestions

We are able to successfully install ArcGIS Pro 2.2 with the ‘pre-packed’ installer for enterprise. So, we move to test with Jupyter Notebook. ArcGIS Pro 2.2 ships with the ArcGIS API for Python 1.4.1 installed. The initial installation of ArcGIS Pro 2.2 creates a default read-only conda environment named arcgispro-py3. ESRI guides us with this way to upgrade ArcGIS API for Python and add new Python packages. To upgrade the ArcGIS API for Python package, use the Python Package Manager to create a new environment, and then install the latest release of the ArcGIS API for Python, and then try to upgrade like: conda upgrade -c esri arcgis Or add new any conda Python package via Python Package Manager GUI. But, both wouldn’t work in enterprise, because of the privilege and security firewall. Enterprise customers usually don’t have Admin privilege and also couldn’t freely download any Python or R packages from open source sites, but they do have certain guidelines to transform those open source packages into local folder. The question is: Is there any other effective way for enterprise customers to create a new environment, install the latest release of the ArcGIS API for Python, and then add new Python packages? Saying, point to the local driver like RStudio.

Hi, ArcGIS Online/3D teams: I tested a web scene , which contains a 3D model with textured meshes created with Bentley ContextCapture. And have the following findings: Pro 2.1.0 produces an error message: the layer data source is not supported in ArcGIS Online. However, The layer package of this 3D integrated meshes model (with Bentley ContextCapture) can be loaded and shared over ArcGIS Online with Desktop ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Earth. The question is: Why not to be supported in ArcGIS Online? Technically or others? Note, Bentley ContextCaputute follows ESRI open scene standard i3s to produce this 3D integrated meshes model, which were supported in 2016. See the link . In fact, some of the samples from Bentley "were" available online , but not true anymore.

Hi Larry, That will only give me the values for the whole set, not per image and stretch function values. If understanding correctly, the steps for your given case should include: Select and add from MD, and/ or directly subset via �??Image Analysis�??; Applies Stretch function onto this 'subset' via Properties; Finally, try the GP tool 'Get Raster Properties' �?�

Hi! From a Mosaic Dataset i'm looking for a way to export Stretch Function values from a Raster into text, with python would be prefered. Like Band[] Min,Max,Mean values. Importing a stretch function with values works great, but i can't manage to export them. Is this information stored in binary? I have checked SDE tables but see nothing in plain text. Does anyone have a solution on how to preserve image quality when importing a topo quad map into a file geodatabase. I know quality is somewhat reduced when brought into a geodatabse. Didn't know if there were any ways to improve this. Thanks. Andrew, Firstly, the raster quality is not changed significantly with the default settings, when using �??Raster to Geodatabase�??. Hello all, I have a problem with the Raster domain tool. When it create a polygon in output, it's always shifted by a half pixel. Now I'm working with some rasters (pixel= 50 cm) What could be the problem? Thanks Giada Giada, Just verify your report and share with you as follows: [INDENT]1. To get a polygon without buffering, advisable to use Mosaic Dataset via �??Build Footprint�?? with �??Shrink distance =0�??. ... Now my question is, why don't I have overviews generated for the master mosaic dataset? Even after building overviews, there are no additional footprints and attribute records in the footprint layer. Overviews were created for the three component mosaic datasets, so why not for the master mosaic dataset, which is a mosaic of all three? And why would creating the master mosaic compute such a small MaxPS for the 2009 mosaic in the first place? Neil, On the creation of overviews on �??master�?? Neil, Firstly, it is feasible to make 2009 (0.15-m resolution) visible via �??building overviews in MD 2009�?? without changing MaxPS. For larger time-serial master MD, in fact, the creation of overviews is necessary and common in practice. Pls refer to the discussion at http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/109836-Best-Practices-Raster-Catalog-gt-Image-Service?p=390263&viewfull=1#post390263 Secondly, MinPS and MaxPS values are derived from LowPS and HighPS that control which raster will be used to create the dynamically mosaicked image at particular scales (or resolutions of the display, or image request, or the performance)�?� So, let�??s TRY your question together (hopefully, understand correctly and also explain clearly): [INDENT]From 80 converted from 270 in MaxPS in 2004 & 2013 (0.3-m resolution), the map scale to display is roughly obtained: 80*96/0.0254=310,000, which means that you can see your photos at the scales at larger than 1: 300,000 (saying, 1:150,000), without overviews. Inversely, when increasing the value of MaxPS, those images would be invisible, without overviews. In fact, on your practice, if using 1.83 from 6 or larger in 2009 (0.15-m resolution), the rasters can display properly, which means that the map scale is: 1:7,000. Otherwise, it requests higher mapping scales to display 0.15-m photos; or, the overviews in MD should be created, if the value of MaxPS increased, saying, 1.32 (4.35 feet) in MaxPS �?�[/INDENT]

When working with many LAS tiles, the process from LAS to Multipoint is time consuming. I have attempted the zLAS format, but I receive a "000725" error at "Output Feature Class" with no explanation about wrong file format elsewhere. Is it possible to convert zLAS to Multipoint with the LAS to Multipoint tool? Hello, I am trying to figure out how to select specific areas within a coastal prairie based on a range of RGB values. I am using orthoimages. I have found a few tutorials online, but nothing about selecting a range of values. Would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks! Jeff, If understanding correctly, pls try Mosaic Dataset containing your rasters, build with overviews, and clip your AOI from this MD within Image Analysis; Then, apply the function caled 'Binary Thresholding' onto the cliped MD within Image Analysis. It will help to divide your raster into two distinct classes with the Otsu method. In this way, you can easily select water body, roads, etc. from your images covering a coastal prairie. In fact, it would be much easier and more flexible to do so via non-binary thresholding value range method, if having remote sensing package like ER Mapper/ ENVI. That is, a combination of RGB thresholding value ranges (i.e, the seperate values for R, G, B) can be allowed. Hope, MD in ArcGIS will support multiple thresholding sooner...

Good afternoon gang! I have been poking around all the ESRI resources, and didn't find exactly what I needed. We are looking at using the Image Server Extension to incorporate some topographic data sets as a basemap into our customized server site. Yes, I know there are already map services from ESRI and USGS etc that accomplish this. However, one of our requirements is that the SR of our basemap cannot be WGS 84,among other req's like owning our data etc. so there goes the cached service from ESRI Currently, we have 5 Raster Catalogs each containing a specific geographic area of custom topo map images. Soon we will have 5 raster catalogs which contain imagery in this same geographic extent as the topos. These will both grow in data over the coming years Is it possible or recommended to store our data this way if we want to serve as a single image service? I ask because I have not been able to figure out the best way to create a Referenced Mosaic using more than one Raster Catalog, hence why we only have a single image service for each Raster Catalog or ref mosaic. If our dataset will eventually grow to TB sizes, I would assume a single raster catalog would NOT be the way to go, but maybe I'm wrong? What's the consensus out there? How should we attack this? Collin, Firstly, there is not the best practice available to us. Personally, how to organize image sources and manage image services are fully relied on your organization's applications and purposes. However, some technical and operational factors should be considered, before taking actions�?� On your description, it looks that your data are going to be �??time-serial�?? images covering different spatial areas (saying, area A, B, C�?�), which are geospatially located at different locations. If so, the following are listed for your reference: #1. You can manage all into �??one�?? regular Mosaic Dataset by an additional field �??Year�?? via adding �??year-based�?? raster catalogs, and then create a �??Year-based�?? referenced Mosaic Dataset on selection of �??Year�??. In this way, you can achieve the purpose of raster management. However, you couldn�??t create overviews onto this referenced Mosaic Dataset, which is necessary to serve as image service�?� #2. The �??year-based�?? regular Mosaic Dataset with its overviews, which contains all raster from different areas but 'single' year, is separately created and then combined into �??one�?? single �??time-serial�?? Mosaic Dataset (with an additional field �??Year�??). In this way, however, to properly visualize, you should use with �??Time Slider�?? function in clients like ArcGIS. Besides, the image service is not easily updated and also not flexible in diverse applications �?� #3. The �??year-based�?? regular Mosaic Dataset with its overviews containing all areas is separately created and then directly served as time-serial image service (saying, *****2014; ******2015, etc.). In this way, the services are more flexible/easier to use and also can widely support many �??diverse�?? applications like �??change detection�?? analysis and image analysis�?� With this approach, it is also much easy to update (weekly, monthly �?�), without any interruption, meanwhile customers still can access those image services �?� Finally, the use of datum/projection in 'single' Mosaic dataset mostly depends on your specific scenario, saying, those areas located in one continent/ one province /state /county, or your organization standard of spatial reference to be used in applications ... ?
