I’ve been trying the Explorer App using it’s “Markup” mode to create hand written notes on apartment building information (see attachements). We just want to make a hand label of the apartment buildings that can be used to create annotation for our E911 data. It’s a real pain to use it to write a text note on a map. Every time you lift your finger or stylus it pops up an option menu. I’d like to suggest a “hand written notes” mode that would let you complete a note without interruption. This would make it much better for scratching notes on a map. I know about the "Notes" functionality, but we want to the the graphic that is created as the "note" without having to tap out a note on a keyboard.

Our work flow for rematching addresses in desktop is to match against our point address locator, then rematch against our center line locator. In ArcGIS Pro I cannot figure out how to select the center line locator for rematching. It seems to select the original (point locator) by default. Is there a way to rematch against a locator other than the original locator?

I'm stuck in the same place. How do you get to a polyline's geometry collection?

I'm simply splitting a polyline at a point using iPolyline.SplitAtPoint. These are simple polylines, not multipart. So now I have the parts in my polyline GeometryCollection. How do create two new polylnes from the esriGeometryPath in my GeometryCollection? i.e. convert esriGeometryPath to esriGeometryPolyline?

Thank you so much. I just happened to stumble on a similar thread that was pointing me in this direction, but your tip got me there faster. I just tested this - it seems that when changing the line symbol through ArcMap (Symbol Selector>Edit Symbol>Symbol Property Editor) and selecting Cartographic Line Symbol the new symbol is a IMultiLayerLineSymbol. Now I just need to figure out how to loop thru the layers.

In the code above: Dim aSymbol as ISymbol = rendLinks.Symbol seems to return aSymbol as type ILineSymbol, regardless of what symbol class is defined in the renderer.

I'm trying to figure out how to discover if the symbol class from a simple renderer is CartographicLineSymbol in vb.NET According to the documentation ISimpleRenderer.Symbol returns ISymbol. According to the documentation ISymbol implements several line symbol classes (CartographicLineSymbol, HashLineSymbol, etc.) I set layer's symbol "Type" to "Cartographic Line Symbol" in the properties and yet this code is not working: Dim rendLinks As ISimpleRenderer = geoLyrLinks.Renderer Dim aSymbol As ISymbol = rendLinks.Symbol If TypeOf aSymbol Is ICartographicLineSymbol Then MessageBox.Show("i'm a cartographiclinesymbol") Else MessageBox.Show("NOT a cartographiclinesymbol") End If Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Or can someone tell me how to simply retrieve the symbol class from a simple renderer?

Does anyone have code showing how to check if SpatialAnalyst is loaded in ArcMap and if not, then to load it? I have code that needs to have SpatialAnalyst loaded in ArcMap. I've figured out how to tell if my user has a SpatialAnalyst license and how to tell if SpatialAnalyst is loaded (via IJITExtensionManager.IsExtensionEnabled). Now I want to load SpatialAnalyst if it is not loaded, but can't figure out how to do that.

I've created a custom toolbar and a setup program (in .net) to install the toolbar. This all works fine. The toolbar has a custom bookmark function that saves data in a text file for storage/retrieval. The problem I have is that I've stored this file in a folder under the toolbar installation folder and I need to recall this location programatically. I'd like to avoid doing something like making an environment variable to hold the custom dll installation path. Is there anyway to recall the installation path of a custom dll?

I'm trying to use the Wing IDE to edit my scripts, but I'm having a basic problem. "Import arcpy" doesn't recognize arcpy as a module. Is there something I need to do to expose arcpy to Wing? Thanks for the help.
