JSAPI Map in Ajax TabContainer - no background mapping

Hi,

I have a AJAX TabContainer with two tab panels. I have some summary details on the first tab and I have my ESRI JSAPI map on the second right tab.

The problem I have is that if the tab containg the ESRI JSAPI map is not the active tab when the page loads, my background map does not load. I can see my pan arrows and zoom slider but i have no background map.

I dont really want the map to be the active tab when the page loads but I am not sure how to fix the background mapping issue if the map isnt the active tab when the page loads.

Does anybody have any ideas about this as it's really causing me issues now.

I have access to all of the map objects via dijit.byId, I am able to see my tool bar, table of contents etc and have access to Pan Arrows and Zoom Slider.

I just cannot interract with the map.

I have uploaded an image of what I do get.
