I am having trouble getting the Lock extension for ArcPad (http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=14038) to work with ArcPad 10. I realize there is a lock button already built in to ArcPad 10, but that teeny tiny button is driving my users crazy! I have put the appropriate .dll into the extension folder, and added the button to a toolbar, this is all fine. I am able to click the button to lock Arcpad, but I am unable to unlock it using the "tap the left edge and right edge of the screen" method. The only way I can unlock it is to tap on the tiny little lock in the upper right corner of the screen. Is there anyway in ArcPad 10 to use the Lock Screen extension instead of the little built in lock?

I was struggling with this too, but I was looking in the wrong place! How embarrassing! Design mode can be found under the "Quick Access" dropdown on the right side of the toolbar. I had been looking for it in the "Quick Action" button....the big blue one on the left. I have attached a .jpg that diagrams the toolbars. Hopefully your fix is as easy as mine.

I would really like to see a sample of this on the Resource Center. I do not have the Production Mapping extension either, but I have a need to update a table in a layout based upon my data driven pages. Can you post your entire python code?

I am trying to re-create the ArcCatalog Quick Find Tool (http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=14236) as an add-in for ArcCatalog 10 using the referenced arcscripts code as a base. I can get ArcCatalog to filter based upon the IGxObjectFilter interface...if I specify GXFilterFeatureClasses, that is all that I get is FeatureClasses. What I would like to do is specify some text characters (ie "Lake") and have the ArcCatalog Contents view filtered to only show me featureclasses that contain the characters "lake" somewhere in the name. Is it possible to do this as an add-in??

So after you upgraded to Windows 7, you reinstalled ArcMap and ArcPad on the desktop.....but did you remember to turn on the ArcPad Data Manager extension?

I have used very similar processes to limit the number tabs/pages on my forms. I would use an "IF" statement in the "OnLoad" event of Tab2 to check the Type value of the current point. Depending on the Type, you could then decide which controls to make visible and which ones to hide.

I am having a similar issue with the Tracklog. I am trying to use the ArcGIS Server syncronization, so I need to get the tracklog into an AXF...I don't want the user to have to do anything other than tap the syncronize button. I have been able to duplicate the Tracklog by capturing the OnPosition event from the GPS and writing it to an AXF. The problem is, the data that I actually need to edit is a Point layer, and so is the "Tracklog.AXF". ArcPad only allows one of each feature type (point, line, or polygon) to be editable at a time. So, I have to constantly switch my editable layer back and forth between the "Tracklog.axf" and my other point layer. Is there a better way to go about this? Is it possible to capture the "OnClose" event of ArcPad and copy all records from the actuall tracklog into the TrackLog.axf? That way I would only have to switch the layer I am editing once and I wouldn't constantly be reading the OnPosition events. Anyone have a creative solution out there?

I am working with pre-assigned plots (my points already exist), which are assingned a "newkey" value based upon which stand(polygon) they reside in. This is all done before it gets to ArcPad. So, in my geodatabase I have a point featureclass with all of my plots (which have their "newkey" and a PlotID pre-assigned) and Related Table that has PlotID as the foreginkey and a relationship class between the featureclass and standalone table. When a new Tree (related table row) is added, I copy the NEWKEY to the new related record and also assign a new TreeID, which is a sequential number. Since I have setup a relationship class in my Geodatabase, the software takes care of adding the PlotID to each new record added to the related table.

Jason- You are correct, I am using my own primary key (NEWKEY). I have always been a little spooked by ObjectIDs....call me paranoid if you like. Try using Fields("AXF_ObjectID").value. This should return the value of your AXF_ObjectID that you can store in a variable. Then in your SQL statment add the where clause like this: "......where [AXF_ObjectID] = " + CStr(variable) Eric

Are you using shapefiles and related .dbfs or .AXF? I have had success querying a related table in .axf. The query is just a SQL statement. Sub SummarizeTrees dim DataSource set DataSource = Map.Layers("MFIPlotsContractor").DataSource 'this is the feature(parent) table dim query dim queryRows 'this query will select the rows I want from the related table (ENVIRO_MFITREESCONTRACTOR) query = "SELECT SUM(dbh) from ENVIRO_MFITREESCONTRACTOR where [NEWKEY] = " + CStr(Stand) set queryRows = DataSource.execute(query) queryrows.movefirst msgbox "The Sum of DBH for Stand#" & CStr(Stand) & ":" & (Chr(13)) & queryRows.fields(1).value end sub

To set your default projection across all of ArcPad, you can take a .prj file and rename it to ArcPad.prj and place it in your "My ArcPad" folder on your device. This is for version 10, I think if you are working with an earlier version you would put the ArcPad.prj file in the "My Documents" folder.
