Hi Justin, We don't have Portal. Pure ArcGIS Server Advanced. We don't have Web Adapter either. Third party load balancer / Proxy servers / reverse proxy. It is now occurring on both machines in the site. We are in the process of setting up Test (yeah - long story there). We might have seen the synchronization error on a single machine site on Test - which I would not have thought possible. Looking into it. Legacy mode not working - Bugger. 10.7.1 anyone? Cheers, Mark

Hi Justin / Dan, Not good. We saw this on Friday after we upgraded from 10.3.1 to 10.6.1 and moved our Test environment into Production. When we upgraded, we built the sites from scratch. New Linux virtual machines, new os, new install of ArcGIS Server, new SSL certificates, new Gluster bricks, re-publish everything, tested all the apps. Did not see this one coming. On Friday it was interesting. Today when I published, while the site did not crash, it did trigger the synchronization, which in turn triggers the redeploy of all the services and blocks admin operations - which effectively takes the REST points out for 10 minutes, and leaves one wondering if the site will come back up. Since Friday I have moved from being mildly interested and somewhat concerned - to fairly worried. It looks like the synchronize was introduced with 10.6, and can be initiated manually: Synchronize With Site As Justin points out: the new optimized app server architecture that was introduced at 10.6. It would appear to me the optimized architecture can be overridden at 10.6.1 in order to use legacy architecture. Anyone tried this? Server Properties - AppServer Another silly question - anyone seriously considering 10.7.1 at this point? We have logged this with support - but if you guys can't get this sorted with premium support, we probably have Buckleys chance of resolving it. Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, We are running two machines in the one site, on CentOS Linux. Just witnessed server crash with error message: Setting the synchronization flag on the machine 'SERVER Name'. Failed to clear Soap handler cache. Could not connect to the ArcGIS component at URL 'http://cradle20o.thelist.tas.gov.au:6080/arcgis/services/esriAdmin/cache/clear'. The ArcGIS component on that machine may not be running or the machine may not be reachable at this time.Error: Anyone know if this is resolved? Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, We have an on premise multiple machine deployment of ArcGIS Server. Currently the cache is on a network drive and shared between the two machines. Looking at Configure highly available caches - we a considering placing the cache directories on each machine in the deployment. Anyone done this? Did it work out for you? Cannot see any additional information anywhere, other to suggest this is how Cloud map caches are configured. Cheers, Mark

When publishing a service in ArcGIS Server Advanced 10.6.1, under the Capabilities for the Mapping Service, I see there is a new operation allowed : Tilemap. What does this do?

Hi Peoples, Quick follow up - Upgraded to ArcGIS Server 10.6.1 and the issue is resolved. The issue is in the ArcGIS REST Service layers (not the database tier - we are still on ArcSDE 10.3.1). Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, We logged the issue with ESRI support and in our particular case it was related to the following bug - which has been resolved in the 10.4 release. The analyst was not able to reproduce in 10.6.1. Bug BUG-000089257 Synopsis The outStatistics query of MapServer returns incorrect results when the dataset is non-versioned archived data. Hi Peoples, We are seeing the indicators and gauges showing the incorrect count values. As with Kevin we created a secure feature map service on our ArcGIS Server site and we consume this from within ArcGIS Online after adding it as a Feature Layer (to store credentials). The underlying feature class is non-versioned with archiving enabled within the enterprise geodatabase. The count being returned is the total number of rows in the table, including the archived values, which is clearly incorrect. We have logged this as a support call. Will get back if we discover anything. Cheers, Mark

Hi Bojan, Can you do this with the NTv2 Grids? If you are loading data into ArcSDE - will this work? - Does the server need the prj and transforms? What about if you are serving data out of ArcGIS Server? - do the servers need the prj and transforms? Cheers, Mark

Looks like sdeconfig is deprecated: The SERVER_CONFIG (sde_server_config in SQL Server and PostgreSQL) table contains initialization parameters and values that largely legacy and/or pertain to ArcSDE application servers, which are no longer supported beginning with ArcGIS 10.3 geodatabases. Of the few parameters that do affect direct connections, most should not need to be altered from their default settings. The SERVER_CONFIG system table Mark

Hi Kelly, Thanks for getting back to us. You are correct that Raster data is not supported in a Feature Service. However - raster layers are supported in Map Services. You can add a raster layer to a Map Document, and publish this to ArcGIS Server. Once published it becomes just another layer in the service. AGOL cannot add a raster layer from a Map Service to a web map though. Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, I followed up the issue with Esri. They have confirmed the behavior described, and are looking toward a solution. It is not so straight forward. The EPSG codes were not available so a work around was done. This would appear to have been an oversight of the ICSM and thus affects all software vendors. Right now there is not a datum definition that goes between GDA2020 and WGS84 web Mercator. It is being ratified by EPSG / ICSM. As a work around the way Esri have implemented the migration to WGS84 Web Mercator is to project back to GDA94 first. Esri are working to provide a GDA2020 to WGS84 Web Mercator but until this is in place by the international bodies then Esri cannot implement a full datum transformation. Until this time the solution is to go through GDA94 first. Users implementation plans for proving web services based on the GDA2020 realization of web Mercator may well be affected by this. Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, Environment : ArcGIS Pro 2.1 If our data is in GDA2020 and we transform to Web Mercator, the software first does a datum transformation to GDA94, and then to Web Mercator. The Geographic Transformation is chosen for me, and I cannot alter it, nor can I delete it – as shown below. This is what is occurring: GDA_1994_To_GDA2020_1 A datum transformation to GDA94 GDA_1994_To_WGS_1984 NULL datum transformation to WGS84 Effectively– this is not the GDA2020 realization of web Mercator - It transformed to GDA94 first. It is the GDA94 realization of Web Mercator. Are other people aware of this? Implications? Cheers, Mark
