Can you provide more details, exact steps and settings? I tried to reproduce this, but it worked correctly for me. I probably did something different from you.

I'm not sure what the point of such symbology is, but to achieve what you're asking one possibility is to give each symbol a unique name in the style and have a matching unique value for each feature, then use the option to match symbols to a style.

You can also toggle that warning on or off from the ArcMap Advanced Settings executable in the ArcGIS Desktop Utilities folder.

Do you have anything that is causing rasterization (transparency, bitmap fills, etc.) of that layer or any above it? If so, you might try removing the things causing rasterization and see how it exports then to see if that makes any difference.

No, there is no dynamic text for page size. But scale text should update to show the current scale at whatever page size.

Do you mean 2 different layouts in one mxd? An mxd always has exactly one layout. No more, no less. ArcGIS Pro can have any number of layouts, from none to as many as you can get in before computer limitations set in, such as memory.

Gerry, at this point I would suggest that your best bet is to contact Esri tech support. They can work through things with you and your particular setup directly and more thoroughly than we can here in this forum/format. They may very well be something specific, such as graphics driver or something else, that is the cause of what you are running into.

I'm not sure about the black dots, but the ones appearing as "crescent" (aka parenthesis) are most likely a font issue. Many of the marker symbols are made from fonts. If the fonts aren't accessible for some reason then it defaults back to the first font in the fonts on the machine. Usually that is Arial. Are these exports being opened on the machine they were created on? Or are they being opened on machines that don't have the esri fonts? When you export you might try the Embed fonts option (for pdf) or the Convert markers to polygons (for pdf and emf).

I can't really say. There are a lot of factors involved in planning each release and so much can change that there's no way we can get very specific about future releases. It's not that we're trying to hide anything, it's just that we don't have the information until we get into the release and even then some things can slip (and sometimes other things get added as priorities shift) if they turn out to be more involved than we had planned for or something else comes up.

Jeff, that functionality isn't available in Pro so far. The only way to get around that for now is to convert the legend to graphics and edit the resulting graphic elements as needed.

You should be able to do it just by holding the left mouse button down. That's the way it works for me. Maybe there is some mouse setting or something that is causing what you are describing?

A custom overlay grid can use polygon (or line) features to create a grid, but it will be more like a graticule (doesn't have all of the reference/index grid options for symbolizing). You won't be able to get the tab style, for example, but you could get something very similar to your image by making a thick/wide black border and white labels. You will need fields in the date for the grid labels, one for just the rows and one for just the columns.

You could also create a rectangle feature in a GCS, set to fill the full geographic extent from 90 north to 90 south, 180 west to 180 east, and then let it get projected on the fly.

Congratulations to the winners! And a big Thank You! And thank you to everyone else who participates around here! I try to contribute when I believe I have something worth saying or an answer to a question. Which isn't as often as I'd like. I also try to get an idea of what kinds of things you guys are doing and where you're running into issues in the parts of the softwares I deal with. We do listen, even if it doesn't always seem like it. You all are the reason we are here.
