Hi Oscar, as far as I know, Google does not allow direct access to their map tiles - see for example http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=1396 "Legally permit direct access to the tiles"

The best way is to publish it as a Geoprocessor task and then use the Geoprocessor class in the Flex API to connect to that published task. More information is at http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/help/index.html#inside_api/geoprocessor.htm and http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisserver/10.0/help/arcgis_server_dotnet_help/index.html#/An_overview_of_geoprocessing_with_ArcGIS_Server/009300000028000000/

That's a bug (that we didn't know about). We'll try and fix it before the 2.0 release. Thank you 🙂

The new viewer is not yet available. When it does become available, it will be a separate download. The viewer, renamed "ArcGIS Viewer for Flex 2.0" will also have its own Resource Center with documentation and examples.

No. However, we are working on the "ArcGIS Viewer for Flex 2.0" which is built with our 2.0 API. We are planning a public beta later this month (June).

The download link is available from http://resources.arcgis.com/content/arcgis-api-flex. Remember to log in before you try to download! To see what has changed since 1.0: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/help/index.html#whats_new.htm To read about how to migrate your 1.x applications to 2.0: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/help/index.html#migrating.htm To see what has changed since the last beta (also shown below): http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/help/index.html#changelog.htm New functionality (since last beta) * Two new properties, description and label, for ClassBreakInfo, SimpleRenderer, and UniqueValueInfo. * To generalize the output features, a new property, maxAllowableOffset, on FeatureLayer, FindParameters, IdentifyParameters, and RelationshipQuery. * Time support for Image Services and Identify. * New class: DrawingInfo that contains metadata information from the service about the renderer and alpha as setup on the server. * The drawing tool set up in ArcMap is now used in the API to set the default drawing tool to use when creating features based on this template. * Capabilities property on ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer, ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer, LayerDetails, and TableDetails. * New property, noData, on ArcGISImageServiceLayer and ImageServiceParameters. * New properties, editable and length, on Field. Changes (since last beta) * Bing Maps (formerly Microsoft Virtual Earth) now use a "key" property instead of "token", "client", and "server". No more need for the Virtual Earth Token page. * Bing Maps 'environment' property has been removed since Microsoft no longer will support a staging environment. * All events are now in the Events package. This affected AttributeInspectorEvent, FlareMouseEvent, InfoPlacementEvent, TemplatePickerEvent and VEGeocodeEvent. * Navigation has been sparkified and can now be skinned. As part of this four classes have been removed (NavigationEvent, NavigationMinusButton, NavigationPlusButton and NavigationSlider) and replaced with three skins (NavigationSkin, NavigationZoomInButtonSkin and NavigationZoomOutButtonSkin). * The "variableName" property (RasterFunction) has been removed. * The "defaultSymbol" property (FeatureLayerDetails) has been removed. * The "symbol" property (FeatureType) has been removed. * TextSymbol now use Flash Player 10 Text Engine which means that alpha and angle now also works for non-embedded (device) fonts.

any ideas if/when ESRI will release a new version of the SFV that is supported? We're planning a beta of the "ArcGIS Viewer for Flex" next month (June).

See http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/samples/index.html?sample=InfoSymbolBasics for a basic example of showing images (or videos) in InfoSymbols - showing multiple "popups". Or http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/samples/index.html?sample=FeatureLayer_InfoWindow on how to use an InfoWindow to show the "popup" when clicked (or on mouse-over) for a feature.

Will [html popups in ArcMap] show up in my FLEX application automatically or do I need to create some custom code for the popup? They will not show up automatically. So for now you will need to create custom code for the popup.

The forum post link changed with the new forums, try http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/1269-Feature-Service-Support-only-simple-symbology The more up-to-date (maybe same) online help doc is at http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisserver/10.0/help/arcgis_server_dotnet_help/index.html#/Authoring_feature_services/009300000021000000/ Rotated symbols are supported. For simple markers the angle set in ArcMap is listed in the Service Directory. For character markers or picture markers, the server creates a rotated image, and thus the Service Directory will list an angle of 0. What kind of markers are you using? And what does the information in the Service Directory say?
