Dariush, Have you re-published this survey before? I see that error when the survey iteminfo isn't cleared from your local drive. Survey still reads this file as a published survey. After you delete the survey contents and folder from your AGOL account, if you haven't already tried, go into your local/C drive survey folder and delete this file, then try to republish your survey. This file will be recreated when you republish.

That's great to hear this is changing. When might 2.7 become available? I have multiple surveys with the same select_one question fields, but with different select_one options. I've tried using the submission_url to publish altered copies of the original survey, but unless the character lengths are defined to exactly the length of the longest character word from my original survey select_one list, the fields will not sync. Even if say my select_one length is 25, and in my new survey I change that field to text and set a character length of 50.

Our field staff are aware that GPS will not work in some locations. We have side loaded basemaps for them to reference in these areas and have trained them on how to manually place a geopoint and lock in a location when GPS is not working. Its also hard to think that the GPS never once updated or moved positions and locked in on 1 XY the entire time they were collecting. I feel it may have something to do with saving completed surveys to send later when network connections are slow or unavailable. We have disconnected editing / sync turned on and our field crew did say they saved each survey to the outbox and then sent everything at once later on. I don't know why or how survey would reset geopoint XY on all of the surveys, but that could explain the same XY showing up on all of them. I've seen some strange behavior in survey before where previously collected surveys when reopened lose a lot of the data/attributes that had been collected.

I had a field crew out collecting survey data in an area with low connectivity to our network. There is a mandatory geopoint field that must be collected to submit a survey. Our field crews have been properly trained on how to capture locations using Phone GPS or manually setting and locking in a location. Due to slow network connections, they collected multiple surveys and saved them to send later. Once back in the office, surveys were sent from the outbox. So far so good. When I went to review the data however, all of the points, that should be scattered over an entire building, ended up in the exact same location with identical latitude and longitude coordinates. On the map lit appears to be only 1 point. When I select this location, you can see the points are stacked and there are actually 11 features here. Anyone else seen this or know why it is happening? We have thousands of features to collect and this could potentially be a big problem.

I'm not sure as to the actual version that is on each phone, we have a lot of field crews and phones floating around between those who need one and the versions seem to change fairly regularly with updates. I do know we have tested on a number of android phones and this problem has remained consistent. Interesting you mention storage though, I had 1 phone that was working fine with capturing repeat photos for about a month now, and then suddenly stopped working and started deleting data fields the way other phones were doing. Perhaps there is something to that. I know the pictures are collected on the phone, but they are also stored within the sql db in AGOL correct? I'm interested to see if we delete all the photos from that phone that have been collected thus far, if the repeat function would work again.

Thanks James, We do have a few machines running pro so I will keep that in mind going forward as we will have to do this process a lot. For anyone else getting this error, it is occuring within the ATT_NAME FIELD of the related pictures table. Search the jpeg names for the encoding errors like circled below. I found 3 spots in my table that needed to be fixed for this script to run all the way through:

James, I'm having a similar traceback error using this script but I noticed this post was from last April - has the format changed with this? I see the 3 fields needed in my Attachments Table named 'images_ATTACH'. The script begins to run and exports 165 photos to my output folder before the fail occurs. I have nearly 1500 pictures in this table. Any ideas on the following error?

Francisco, Many people have helped me in these forums so I'm happy to return the favor if I can. We are collecting utility data so take plumbing as an example. I have 1 survey for new data collection, 1 survey for editing that collected data. I'll refer to as collection and update. To create your update survey, create a new survey in Connect using your completed collection survey XLS. Now Revise the new Update Survey XLS: Delete all calculations Delete calculate questions Delete relevant statements on fields dependent on those calculations Delete groupings (Not required but makes editing easier in my opinion) Delete or revise notes not needed for updates Reorder fields as needed for best workflow (don't change field names) Change "select_one" questions to "text" (as needed to control editing and prevent subsequent relevant questions from changing) Remove or lock any other fields you do not want edited (read-only) Give the update survey a different look by doing whats mentioned above or by editing the style tab or general tab in Connect. This helps field crews from accidentally trying to create new features using the "update" survey (cannot disable "Collect" in a survey). Go to Settings Tab in Survey123 Connect: In collection survey, disable Sent Surveys and Inbox. In Update survey, enable Inbox and apply query as needed Go to Settings Worksheet in Update Survey XLS: Configure "instance_name" field for how you want surveys to be named when loaded to your inbox. Change form_title name Add "submission_url" of your hosted feature layer that was created when you published your collection survey (when done correctly, you will see a note when publishing the update survey saying "No New Feature Service Will Be Created". See attached for examples.

That's good and bad news. Survey version is 2.6.4 Samsung J7, Model: SM-J700T (primary model our field crews have - problem occuring consistently) Samsung Galaxy S5, Model: SM-G900P (problem not totally consistent but occuring regularly) Samsung Grand Model SM-G530T (best results of the 3, but still mixed results) I had an unrelated issue with recalling sent survey data from the Outbox folder where loading a survey from outbox to edit triggers the survey to reload thus rerunning all calculate fields and thus resetting those fields as well as clearing any fields that are "relevant" on the results of those calculations. It seems something similar maybe happening here where the "+" add picture tool in survey triggers a reload/reset of the entire survey. What devices were you able to successfully add multiple pictures with? If its a model issue or Samsung issue we may need to look at switching out our field crews mobile devices. Perhaps there is a phone setting that could be changed but I don't know what that would be?

John, Just wondering if you had any ideas on what may be causing this or had a chance to look at the data. Is it a known issue, something in survey, or something with the make or model of phones being used?

Survey attached. I have changed it around a bit in an attempt to find some format that works. Doesn't seem to matter where I put it. Originally the photos were at the end of the survey, now the beginning. Results after publishing are the same when I try to field collect data from a mobile device. As soon as I take a pic and hit "+" to add additional pictures my other fields are suddenly wiped clean of whatever data was in them

I have a repeat for taking photos. The first photo takes when you hit the camera icon and I can see the picture in my survey. If I hit the "+" icon to add additional photos, the entire survey immediately resets back to the top. It clears all of my previously answered questions and hides the parts of the survey dependent on those questions being filled out. If I fill out the survey again, when I get back down to pictures my 1st photo is still there. No idea what is happening here. I've seen this happen on android J7 and galaxy S5. It's also not consistent survey to survey or between the same model devices. Sometimes adding more photos works fine. Sometimes it erases all your data and resets the survey. Is there a known issue with the phones causing this? Or with repeats? I can't get any consistency replicating the problem so its hard to determine what is causing it. I don't want to send our field crews out with them thinking the app isn't working, and me not knowing how frequently this problem will occur.

select_one question types don't play well with calculations. I am curious what the "0" value calculations in other calculate fields do though?
