This could I think be done via customization of the code but I don't know enough about that coding to know how much work would be involved. I've not seen an example of that being done. It sounds like it would be a cool effect and it might be an enhancement we could provide because it would be neat for the route of the tour to appear as your users step through, rather than them seeing the whole route up front. Another option would be to use the Story Map Journal: each section in your journal could reveal a separate part of the route. You could do that now using the ability in Story Map Journal to turn specific layers in a web map on or off when the map is displayed in the section. You could make each part of your route be a separate layer and then just turn them on in succession in the various sections. If you try that out, post the result because it would be cool to see. I can't think of an example of that being done in a Map Journal, so if anyone else has tried it, please post here. Rupert

It is working OK for me. For example this URL goes to place #8 (the Lowell Picture Gallery): http://www.lesstraveled.com/2016_NewEngland/Storytelling-MapTour-2.2.8/index.html?index=8 In your Map Tour (or any other), click the link icon top right corner, then use that URL. That short URL expands to include this URL parameter: ?index=x at the end where x is the tour point you want to link to: Rupert

In order to answer your question, we need to know which Story Map app you are using. There are several . Each one has its own Editor: Apps | Story Maps

Hi sorry for the delay. Yes the Story Map Tour builder didn't recognize the layer you added into your web map, and so it created the Map Tour layer because it didn't find a valid point layer with locations already in that map. The problem is that you are using a Map Service type layer. You need to add your point layer into the web map (start a new web map too) using either a feature service type layer (i.e. created either in ArcGIS Online or published via ArcGIS Desktop , or a feature collection type layer (i.e.such as a CSV file or point shapefile) simply uploaded into the web map. So it will work if you just add your point layer into a new web map using one of those alternatives to a map service, and then share your web map using the Story Map Tour builder.

Hi Joseph Sorry about the delay replying. Yes, the content that is posted by the end users of a Crowdsource app is automatically stored in a feature service that is automatically created in the account of the creator/owner of the app. When you create a Crowdsource story, the Builder automatically creates this feature service and a web map displaying that feature service. You can therefore use that feature service in other maps and apps, and that map in other apps. Rupert

Hi Joseph Could you open a new question for new questions? It's easier for people to find the question and responses if you do a separate post for new questions rather than adding to existing question. Thanks - Rupert

Hi Juan After you've saved your story, just click on the Globe icon to the right of where it says Share. You may be clicking the word Share (which isn't a button). Let us know here if that works. Rupert

Hi Celeste Could you make it a bit clearer what program, app or website you are using, and exactly what you are trying to do in it. There's not really much for us to go on from what you posted. TLI (too little information) Rupert

Yes please do. As it is a self-hosted app, you'll need to manually add a web mapping application entry into ArcGIS Online via My Content > Add Item > An Application > Web Mapping. Add a thumbnail and nice summary, description and tags. Then submit the URL to that entry (not the URL of the app itself) via: Gallery Submission | Story Maps

Nice work Tim, I particularly like your subtle basemap toggle control in the maps. For some more Map Journal customizations, choose that app in the Story Maps Gallery and also Format>Customized, or click this link to launch the Gallery with those options already set: http://storymaps.arcgis.com/en/gallery/#s=0&md=storymaps-format:customized_storymaps-apps:map-journal

Can you share the web map publicly and paste the link here so we can have a look. Or just paste some of the records, including the URLs you are using. I suspect your URLs are not working for some reason. Rupert

I'm thinking this is perhaps a sync thing with Google Drive because the actual change needed is just editing part of one URL in apps/js/main.js
