I assume you are running compress via python script? Are you using ArcPy.disconnect function to disconnect all connections ? I am also wondering if you have featue services shared out on server that could be causing this? https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/arcpy/functions/disconnectuser.htm

When was the compress run last time? Was the compress successful? What does the SDE Compress table indicate? I would run the Compress again after reconcile process.

I am interested in this Architecture myself. Love to hear an overview or more details on how this can be setup. Is the readonly replica a File Geodatabase?

Not sure if you resolved your issue. I would try creating a table via ArcGIS app with the exact name. If successful, delete it via app. Finally, try registering the FC with geodatabase?

Nevermind. I got my answer here - https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/geodatabases/manage-sql-server/data-types-sqlserver.htm It seems like I can do this by exporting and import database configuration keyword table. The UNICODE_STRING needs set to false "FALSE". This way I can create the text field with field length up to 8000 characters.

I am experiencing similar issue when creating attribute field with field length - 5000 but with SQL Server 2016 not oracle. For some reason, the SQL Server sets the type - navchar(max) displaying field length of 1073741822. Can this fixed by applying the same fix? @JakeSkinner @VinceAngelo

@BThompson We had the exact same issue and it was resolved by using data owner account (prefix) as you highlighted in your post above. I wonder why your post is not marked solution by @CraigCarsley ?

Checked in ArcGIS Pro 2.7.1. Nothing close to X Ray is available. Very disappointing. How many kudos do we actually need so this can be priotized by the dev team in the future version. This idea has been under consideration for long time?

Thanks, Josh! I will check the white paper. I also feel that this workflow is achievable with python. My concern is that I am not finding any out of box GP tools in Pro under data management toolbox or GDB admin toolbox. Therefore, I think I will have to build a logic in python with my basic to intermediate python skills. I am also curious how others government organizations are applying structure changes on their live or production environment. Can't imagine this is all manual via using GUI tools from Pro?

Hello, Basically, I have two same feature classes (A & B) both in enterprise geodatabases. Let's say A is in development environment and B is in production environment. Now, I have applied some structure changes (added new field, applied some field length changes, etc) to A manually via ArcGIS Pro. My goal is to deploy the same changes to B via scripting in production environment. Can this be done via python scripting? I tried Feature Compare tool without much success as it would only list the deltas or diferences in two FC. Is there a GP tool or ArcPy fuction that I can use to extract the deltas between A and B and apply them to B. I assume that this can be done at the backend via RDBMS tools but wanted to avoid using this due unknown risks.

Did something change in the backend? e.g. Enterprise GDB upgrade? DB upgrade/patch? Did your selection change from earlier? Did your selection contain related features earlier?

If post the idea, please tag me. I will support it. It is somewhat counterproductive why I couldn't use any GP tool to look for existing sequences in an EGDB and use SSMS to do the same.

Difficult to pinpoint the root cause of your issue without details. Is this sql server or oracle? It could be insufficient permission of your admin account ? Are there any users connected? Have you tried upgrading the EGDB via ArcGIS Pro using GP tools using this same account? Have you reviewed documentaction here -https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/data-management/upgrade-geodatabase.htm

Thanks, George! I should have specified that we have SQL Server 2016. Furthermore, our DBA have configured automatic update statistics on all tables. So, do we still need to run/schedule this via GDB data management tools? Not getting errors when running compress but unaware of risks associated with using non-SDE account. I hope this makes sense.

Hello, We wanted to implement following automated workflow using python required for optimal performance of enterprise geodatabse using traditional (not branch) versioning functionality required for multi-user editing. - reconcile/post>compress>analyze update statistics on geodatabase system tables (owned by SDE table) We have the script ready to go but have issue with the account. See below. Due to the high default privileges and/or other concerns for SDE account, our DBA team do not want to share or use this account in our live/production environment wit the GDB admin team (me) and wants to use different (non-SDE ) account with custom privileges to carry out this operation. This new non-SDE account works fine and getting the expected results in terms of the success of compress operation (state_ID = 1) surprisingly. So, as someone wearing a hate of GDB admin in the group, my question to the geodatabase admin team is should we use non-SDE account OR SDE account is recommended for setting up the maintenance workflow mentioned above? Are there any risks associated with using non-SDE account for the maintenance process?
