Dear all, I am still strugeling with registering this spatial view with the geodatabase. My main question is: How can I do this in ArcMap 10.3, if this is not possible at ArcMap level, how can I do it in SQL Server? May you please elaborate with steps due to my shallow experience with SQL Server and the SQL programming language itself? Thank you in Advance, Best Regards, Hani

Dear Asrujit, I am using ArcMap 10.3.1, and seems that the SDE command line is deprecated in this version; if so, what is the equivalent solution? BTW, may you please provide me with some of the resources you mentioned above, Best, Hani

Hi Vince, May you please elaborate how I can "register the layer with ArcSDE via 'sdelayer -o register'"; I am not able to find a tool in Arctoolbox that performs this. Should this be done in ArcMap, or in SQL Server? Best,

I’ve created a spatial view in SQL Server 2014 in an enterprise geodatabase. When viewing this view in ArcMap, it acts as if it is in a non-spatial database (However, the database is enabled as enterprise geodatabase). When adding this view to the dataframe, it asks about the ObjectID field, despite the fact that this filed is already available. Moreover, all the enterprise management tools are greyed out (register as versioned, add global IDs,…..) What might be the issue here? Is there a way to change the label expression based on the scale (for the same layer)? For example, when the scale is between 1:1 and 1:10,000 the features are labeled with [field_1], and when the scale is between 1:10,000 and 1:50,000 the features are labeled with [field_2]. I am trying to build an app that queries some features, I wrote the query, but I am not able to select the queried features. The query works well, and I can confirm that by the toast that says "found 10 features" by the showtoast() function. However I am not able to select these feature and highlight them in the layer. Any suggestion about how I can select the resultant features? Any help is highly appreciated! Hani

Is there a way to sort values in a table based on a certain field permanently (at the feature class/ table level), so when adding it to any new map, its features take the same order based on that field? Any help is highly appreciated! Best,

Hi Dan, Thanks for the valuable contribution, My example is: I have parcels feature class, these parcels are related to valuation table (each parcel has a certain valuation each year), and the estimation table is related to another table which is the the owners table that includes the owners for each parcel in each year, and I want to apply a query on the owners table that finds the related parcels. E.g. I want to search for "Dan" in the owners table, and after I find it, I want to view your parcels. I tried this in ArcMap and it worked! I just got confused because in the reference you mentioned, it is stated that this is possible (and actually it is possible). However, you mentioned in your first reply that this is NOT possible. Thanks for the helpful link Dan, According to the help-page mentioned above, there is a benefit from using relationship class which is: Relationship classes allow you to query related features and records. Similar to an ArcMap join, you can query, perform analysis, and generate reports with attributes from a related class. I don't know if this means that I can query my features based on its related? Thanks for the reference Dan, Due to the 1-many cardinality that I have, seems that I should choose between the relate and the relationship class, and referring to the pros and cons table, seems that relate needs a join to enable the query and symbology (In the screenshot below). Actually, I could not understand this point. may you please elaborate it more?
