I solved the issue. I added a new environment variable called PYTHONPATH and made the value C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.3\Lib. Now it doesn't have any issue finding the syconfig file. Thanks!

I have a standard install of ArcGIS. I did recently install Anaconda Python distribution for using python for some tasks other than GIS, so it may be an issue with that. The tools seem to work though, it's just the scripts that come included with the Arctoolbox that aren't working.

If you're looking to go a different route from ArcGIS Online you can use Google Earth. If you created the map with ArcGIS Desktop, you can export the map to a kml using the "Map to KML" tool and send the file to them to have them open it up in Google Earth. I've used that in the past to share maps with those who do not have ArcGIS.

Good afternoon, I am trying to run the "Collect Events" script from the Arctoolbox on ArcGIS 10.3.1 and receiving an error. I have attached a screenshot of the error. It says "ImportError: No module named sysconfig". I have a sysconfig file under C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.3\Lib so I don't know why it can't find the sysconfig file. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I was wondering if it is possible to set up a tool in ArcMap so it automatically runs when a change is made to a layer. For example, when a new feature is added to a table, the tool automatically runs. I have some experience with Model Builder but not a lot with Python. Basically I want to autosave my map and then run a tool on the .mxd itself to export it to KML. This may not even be possible but I thought I'd ask here on GeoNet if anyone had any ideas. Thanks!

Basically I have a feature class of statewide points for a 2 year period, but I want individual feature classes for the counties. The feature class I have, has an attribute for the county. I want to create separate feature classes based on that attribute. My end goal is to create a KML for Google Earth in which you can turn on/off the different points for the various counties instead of just being able to turn on/off all the points in the state. Thanks!

I am having a problem with getting the desired output in ModelBuilder in ArcMap 10.2 and I may be overthinking it. I want to take a Feature Class and Iterate Row Selection to go through and group features based on an attribute. Then I want my output to be feature classes of all the different groups of features that were found by the iterator (different feature classes for points based on their county). How do I do get this desired output? I know the answer is probably fairly simple. I appreciate any and all help! Thank you!

Thank you very much for the help Curtis. It works fine now out of the tool dialog box. I do think you are right and it had something to do with the tools not being ready to run for some reason. Thanks again!

I did not add any iterators. Here's a screenshot of the model. An iterator might work too, but I am not sure how I would iterate the model based on multiple parameter values entered

Hello, I have a question in regards to using ModelBuilder. I've created a tool in ModelBuilder that runs fine when I run it within the "Edit" mode of the tool, however when I open the tool and enter the parameters it keeps running and running unlike when I run it within the Edit mode. What is causing this? Why would the tool run fine when I add the parameters and run it in edit mode, but not work when I simply double click on the model and enter the parameters. Is there something I am missing? I have attached screenshots of both methods showing which one works and doesn't. I don't understand why I can run the model within modelbuilder but it seems to freeze when I run the model in the tool dialog box. Thank you for your help!

I contacted ESRI and figured out the problem. All I needed to do was turn off "Use Hierarchy" which generalized the polygons, as well as changing the polygon generation to "Detailed" instead of the default "Generalized".

It looks like the polygon barrier does affect the service area, but not completely. Some of the service area still bleeds over into the polygon barrier. I've attached a screenshot to show this.

Does anyone know if it possible to generate polygon barrier for a service area using Network Analyst? I've created a polygon barrier that works when creating a new route using Network Analyst, but the service area polygon that is generated is not affected by the barrier. I have the barrier has a restriction so shouldn't the barrier keep the service area polygon from entering into it? Any help is greatly appreciated!
