On February 22 this year, I uninstalled ArcGIS 10.3 or 10.4, I then installed 10.5 When I try to connect to it via Catalog or ArcMap, I get warnings the certificate is not valid. I am able to connect to it, it's just annoying clicking Yes three times. Every time. I've discovered it expired in 1949. Here is what it says from the admin / machine / [machine name] / sslcertificates / selfsignedcertificate Valid from: Wed Feb 22 21:07:15 EST 2017 until: Sat Dec 31 21:07:15 EST 1949 Do I create another one, or is there a simple way to update the existing ? Thanks - Mark

Thank you Scott! On my bad server, I was just about ready to uninstall ArcGIS and reinstall it - that's what fixed my other server - when I decided to stop the Publishing Tool per your suggestion. I've rebooted the server multiple times over the past few days. I stopped and restarted the Publishing Tool and am now able to publish new and update existing services. Your suggestion just saved me 4 hours of work. FWIW: I am using Desktop, not Pro. I tried the Publishing Patch on the first day I had issues, it did not resolve my problem.

Thanks for the thoughts. Yes the data source is still registered and the arcgis account has full control over the arcgisserver folder and sub folders. FWIW: If you scroll through that thread you posted about, # 177553, you will see I was a part of it and had issues with publishing a service from a SQL server as the data source. It took a patch (10.4.1) from ESRI to get it fixed. I'm kind of hoping ESRI would also have a solution to this so I don't have to rebuild the entire server.

I have two of these servers. Last night I ended up uninstalling and then reinstalling 10.5 on the secondary server - I was then able to publish all 80+ services. Most services were using SDE as the datasource, some were using PostgreSQL 9.3, some were using MS SQL 2012, all installed without issue. Looks like 10.5 is not the problem, it's because I upgraded from 10.41 to 10.5. To Clarify - I still have one 10.5 server that I am unable to publish new or republish services on. ESRI support - have any thoughts?

FYI ESRI released a patch yesterday, 2016-07-18, that appears to have fixed my issue - I am now able to publish a service via ArcMap that has a SQL Query as the data source. ArcGIS for Server Publishing Patch Esri Support 10.4 (10.4.1)

I have an ESRI ArcGIS 10.3.1 Linux server. I am trying to register a MS SQL 2012 Database to it - it fails with: Machine: <snip>[<snip>: The connection property set was missing a required property or the property value was unrecognized. Underlying DBMS error [Unknown errorNo extended error.]] Looking into this, it appears I need the MS SQL Native Client for the ArcGIS server - I can find it for an installation on a Windows OS. Where can I find the Linux Native Clients for MS SQL 2012? Please don't say - my.esri.com - I have scoured over that site and still come up empty. Thanks for your help. - Mark

ESRI's Alternate Solution does not work either. I uninstalled ArcMap 10.4.1 and installed 10.3.1, tried to publish the layer, and get the same error. Current ArcMap is 10.3.1.4959 Current ArcGIS Server is 10.41 I do not want to revert back to server 10.3.1 - I have over 90 services that will need redeploying. Should I start a new thread?

Daniel, I understand and agree with what you are saying. With my limited CentOS knowledge, this script is only called when the server boots - see Step 7 from Vince above. Following the Step 7 process, there is no where to put in the word 'start', it's all "automated." The chkconfig command will not accept start or stop - see Step 7 e. The script is copied from another folder and placed in the etc / rc.d / init.d folder, per Step 7 b. Heck, I have no idea why I did Step 7 d 2 - added "# chkconfig 35 99 01". I thought a leading pound sign was commenting it out. Thanks - Mark

I believe my problem is solved - thanks for the assistance. Vince, it is AGS 10.3.1 on CentOS 7.1.1503 (Core) and starts and runs fine by manually running the startserver.sh script. I looked high and low (Google) on how to do this. I guess I didn't use the right words - I used boot & startup - but what you posted was exactly what I was looking for. But, it didn't fix the problem, directly. Daniel, not sure if your pointer was the solution or led me down the path - either way, thank you very much. Here is what I did - I'll try to describe it: I followed the Step 7 process from Vince. The service would still not start during boot. I started troubleshooting it... I tried to execute the script as root, it would 'process' and after 20 seconds or so, drop back to the Terminal prompt. No errors, no success, nothing. I then ran the startserver.sh script as root, and was told root was not allowed - I expected this. Then Daniel replied. Via Google, I saw where the CentOS 7 'minimal' no longer had ifconfig. I was running CentOS 7 'DVD' and confirmed ifconfig worked in Terminal. I thought, I'd give the change a shot, I've seen stranger things happen. I went into the arcgisserver script and changed the ifconfig line to ip addr per his post. I then ran the arcgisserver script as root. This time, I received a response - I forget the exact - something about it calling the agsserver as root was ungood and would change the user to the ArcGIS Server Install user account (pretty cool). But then it failed saying something about it was expecting an attribute (start | stop) with the launch command. I explored the arcgisserver script again and saw where it was using a $1 attribute. It wasn’t being provided and I couldn’t easily see where it should be coming from. So I ‘hacked’ it. I changed the $1 text to the word ‘start’. Rebooted the server and the service is up and running! I hope this helps someone. Thanks for your time & assistance Vince & Daniel. Mark

How do I get the server 'service' to start during the boot process on CentOS 7? Currently, I have to login to the server and launch the startserver.sh script manually after a reboot. Is there a systemctl command I can run? Please advise & thanks - Mark

Thanks for your input George. I've read that blog and others similar to it. I was hoping ESRI would step up with a script or tool. I have this problem on 10.2.2, (license to expire) on both Windows & Linux servers. So basically, the best thing for me to do is to wait for the SDE EDN license to expire, then apply the new EDN license when prompted as I attempt connection in Arc Catalog. Otherwise I have to install the SDE commands for a quick 2 minute process. I guess I will have to rebuild my Linux 10.3 server to use the newer EDN license. Can I bill ESRI for my time? My customer won't be happy. Thanks Mark

How do I do this? When I used to install the sde commands, it was a simple sdesetup -o command. Now, with ESRI strongly suggesting to NOT install the sde command tools, how do I update my soon to expire EDN license key? I can not find it in the ArcCatalog's Toolbox - where the sde commands were moved to... I have found two tools that allow me to insert the ecp key file: A) Data Management Tools \ Geodatabase Administration \ Create Enterprise Geodatabase B) Data Management Tools \ Geodatabase Administration \ Enable Enterprise Authorization Geodatabase What are the effects if I run one of these on an existing sde server? At this time, I don't want to update sde from 10.2.2 to 10.3, I only want to update the license key so it will not expire next week. I am not ready to update my GIS servers to 10.3. If I run these tools from a 10.3 ArcCatalog, will it also attempt to update the database version? I personally recall and have seen posts where after the key has expired I would be prompted for a new key file. I'd rather not wait until this happens to update it. Or is there a simple way I have been unable to find? Please Advise & Thanks Mark Littell
