I see said the blind man! I had the bing key in my basemaps -> <mapservice> tag, but not in the <bing> tag, under the <style> tag in my config.xml. e.g.
<bing key="my triple top secret key... "/>
Thanks! Frank

Robert, the Route Widget I have compiled for my own site is throwing this error when I type a address: RPC Fault faulstring="Unathorized" faultCode="401" faultDetail="Access was denied You may have entered your credentials incorrectly, or you might no have access to the requested resource or operation." I tried the same address on your site and it works dandy. Any ideas? Thanks, Frank

Thanks for pointing that out, I was just looking at that code wondering about the repercussions of that error. I have posted an update at the website. The link above should get you there. Have a Merry Christmas! Frank

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but I do have a mod for the 2.1 viewer that works for collecting an x and y from the url. I posted the code mod at: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/15082-Zoom-to-x-and-y-from-value-in-URL Frank

Take a look at this: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=dc56d2ab11534d24a5559ea9dc8f5119 Should be code in the app to show you how to use the IFrame. Key component in directions is to set the wmode = direct, if you don't you will loose the roller wheel on your mouse in firefox. Hope it helps, Frank

I would like to pick up a book or two on Flex and would like some recommendations. There are a number of them, but only so many hours in the day to read anything... I would like to know what the crowed would recommend. There was a post made on this topic in July (see url below), but I thought I would ask again in the event that something new has come on the market. The four books that came up on that post were as follows: *Adobe Flex 4 Training from the Source *Adobe Flash Builder 4 Flex 4 by David Gassner ?? (Recommended by Robert Scheitlin) *Flex 4 In Action *Flex 4 Cookbook Old Post link: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/8557-Nice-book-for-learning-Flex-4?highlight=flex+book Thanks in advance, Frank

Glad it is working for you! Per your other question you emailed me about the default viewer/popup. You can set the default view in the code by modifying the pull-down on around line 221 of frStreetView.mxml. Just change the first label in the array to the one you want to be the default. Feel free to move the order around any way you like. Enjoy! Frank

In a different post I figured out how to use the Geometry Server to project a point, see: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/14793-UTM-or-State-Plane-to-Decimal-Degrees However, I'm still left with a question. My question is there anyway to avoid adding the Declarations section at the end (i.e. just define the geometryService info in the body of the ActionScript function)?? This is what I'm currently adding: <fx:Declarations> <esri:GeometryService id="geometryService" concurrency="last" fault="onFault(event)" projectComplete="projectCompleteHandler(event)" url="http://sampleserver3.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Geometry/GeometryServer"/> </fx:Declarations> Thanks Frank

As always - You the man!! Robert can you please provide your favorite lunch place in your town, I'll get you a gift certificate or have it delivered!! I added: import com.esri.ags.geometry.Extent; And then swapped out the original searchDrawEnd with Robert's code below: private function searchDrawEnd(event:DrawEvent):void { var geom:Geometry = event.graphic.geometry; if(geom.type == Geometry.MAPPOINT) { //Expand the point by 5 pixels var point:MapPoint = geom as MapPoint; var xMin:Number = map.toScreen(point).x - 2.5; var yMin:Number = map.toScreen(point).y - 2.5; var xMax:Number = map.toScreen(point).x + 2.5; var yMax:Number = map.toScreen(point).y + 2.5; var mp1:MapPoint = map.toMap(new Point(xMin,yMin)); var mp2:MapPoint = map.toMap(new Point(xMax,yMax)); var ext:Extent = new Extent(mp1.x, mp1.y, mp2.x, mp2.y); var pA:Array = []; var pPoly:Polygon = new Polygon(null,geom.spatialReference); pA.push(new MapPoint(ext.xmin,ext.ymin,geom.spatialReference)); pA.push(new MapPoint(ext.xmin,ext.ymax,geom.spatialReference)); pA.push(new MapPoint(ext.xmax,ext.ymax,geom.spatialReference)); pA.push(new MapPoint(ext.xmax,ext.ymin,geom.spatialReference)); pA.push(new MapPoint(ext.xmin,ext.ymin,geom.spatialReference)); pPoly.addRing(pA); queryFeaturesGraphical(pPoly); } else { queryFeaturesGraphical(geom); } }

I've got the 2.1 Flex Viewer Search Widget working, both the query and select with box and poly work dandy! However, for some reason I can't "select by point" on a point data set. When I do this I just get the "Features selected: 0". I can click all over the place and can't seem to get it to select anything with this part of the tool. Any ideas on this? Frank

Thanks to both of you, the ESRI sample Robert pointed me to was useful. My question is there anyway to avoid adding the Declarations section at the end (i.e. just define the geometryService info in the body of the Action Script function)?? Hope this helps someone! Frank The code below is what I ended up doing, please note the goal hear was to pass lat and long to a function called "displayForm" : private function mouseClickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { const frmapPoint:MapPoint = map.toMapFromStage(event.stageX, event.stageY); var latlong:MapPoint; var wkidString:String = frmapPoint.spatialReference.wkid.toString(); //Alert.show("Spatial Ref for map: " + frmapPoint.spatialReference.wkid.toString()); if ( wkidString == "102100") { latlong = WebMercatorUtil.webMercatorToGeographic(frmapPoint) as MapPoint; frLat = latlong.y.toFixed(6); frLong = latlong.x.toFixed(6); displayForm(frLat, frLong); } else if ( wkidString == "3857") { latlong = WebMercatorUtil.webMercatorToGeographic(frmapPoint) as MapPoint; frLat = latlong.y.toFixed(6); frLong = latlong.x.toFixed(6); displayForm(frLat, frLong); } else if ( wkidString == "4326") { latlong = map.toMapFromStage(event.stageX, event.stageY); frLat = latlong.y.toFixed(6); frLong = latlong.x.toFixed(6); displayForm(frLat, frLong); } else { //Alert.show("Non client side projection"); var outSR:SpatialReference = new SpatialReference(4326); geometryService.project([frmapPoint as Geometry], outSR); } var graphic:Graphic = new Graphic(); var mapPoint2:MapPoint = frmapPoint; mapPoint2.spatialReference = map.spatialReference; graphic.geometry = mapPoint2; graphicsLayer.clear(); graphicsLayer.add(graphic); } //private var infoWindowText:String; private function projectCompleteHandler(event:GeometryServiceEvent):void { try { // Note: As of version 2.0, GeometryService returns geometries (instead of graphics) var pt:MapPoint = (event.result as Array)[0]as MapPoint; //Alert.show(pt.x + ", " + pt.y); displayForm(pt.y.toString(),pt.x.toString()); } catch (error:Error) { Alert.show(error.toString()); } } I then had to add this after the Script Tags, as to identify the server and projectComplete event: <fx:Declarations> <esri:GeometryService id="geometryService" concurrency="last" fault="onFault(event)" projectComplete="projectCompleteHandler(event)" url="http://sampleserver3.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Geometry/GeometryServer"/> </fx:Declarations>
