i'm not sure. what does the web traffic look like? do you see any failed/garbled requests to the print service? I cannot find anything. I can get to the REST endpoint just fine. I checked the ArcGIS Server error logs and nothing was returned for the print task. Also, I opened a Silverlight application that uses this print task and it works just fine. I am hoping someone out there can duplicate the problem.

the proxy referenced in the app is required to create the button. OK. . I configured a proxy page. The following lines of code are used in the proxy.ashx file: <serverUrl url="http://<machinename>/arcgis/rest" matchAll="true"></serverUrl> File was saved. I then went to a web browser and type in the following URL: http://<machinename>/Proxy/proxy.ashx?http://<machinename>/arcgis/rest The directory of REST services appears. When I remove the code from the proxy.ashx file, I can no longer access the services through REST. This works as it should. In the print application, I made the following changes app.printUrl = "http://<machinename>/arcgis/rest/services/Printing/BuildingInspections85X11L/GPServer/Export%20Web%20Map"; function init() { esri.config.defaults.io.proxyUrl = "http://<machinename>/Proxy/proxy.ashx"; Still. . the print button is not showing up. What is it that I am missing?

So why cannot I not see the button when I download the sample (without any modifications to the ESRI sample) on to my machine? That is what I am trying to figure out.

Now I am trying to see if I can get the button to fire as a function. Here is the code: From the sample: Code Block: app.printer = new esri.dijit.Print({ "map": app.map, "templates": templates, url: app.printUrl }, dojo.byId("print_button")); app.printer.startup(); } Button Defined in the DIV: Note: This sample uses an ArcGIS Server version 10.1 export web map task. </div> <!-- that will be used for the print dijit --> <!--<div id="print_button"></div>--> <button id="print_button" dojoType="dijit.form.Button">Print Map</button> I have been able to get the button, but cannot get it to fire:

I am trying to incorporate the following sample in my application: http://developers.arcgis.com/en/javascript/samples/widget_print_esri_request/ Notice that the print button is present in the ESRI sample. When I download the sample to my machine, the print button goes away. Does this sample require the use of a proxy page? The code has not been modified, just trying to run it on my local machine. The screenshot below shows the print button missing. How can I get this sample to work on my local machine?

I have been working on building an application from the ground up. I am really stuck with the template picker. I am using a layout that enables the use of panes in the legend. These panes will contain different tools such as legend, geocoding, editing, and find tools. I can get the geocoding and find tools to work, but the template picker is not displaying correctly. The frame for the template picker appears, but none of the feature layers show up. Does anyone have any suggestions? Attached is a copy of the code and a couple of screenshots. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Deepika, Identify functionality/behavior is available when configuring pop-ups for layers, you can enable pop-ups to appear "on-click" for features. Configuring layers: Pop-Ups - ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight help doc Hope this helps, Are there any plans for ESRI to develop an identify tool that can handle related objects? When I say related objects, the tool needs to handle several levels of related objects rather than one. I really do not know why this has not been considered. The problem with the pop up is with the mouse click. Other tools use the left mouse click, for instance if you perform a pan, sometimes when you go to pan, the pop up appears when you do not want it to. There really needs to be an identify manager. . meaning when you click on the icon from the toolbar, a manager comes up and allows you to choose the layer you want to identify. With the pop-up, they are all enabled depending on what was configured. In our case, we have over 80 layers configured with the pop-up. Our users need to be able to see attributes for these features. End users within my organization are not really happy with the pop up. Also, I have created a redline tool set that includes editing the graphic. Editing the graphic requires a left mouse click to select the graphic for editing. Guess what?. . .when the graphic becomes selected for editing using the left mouse click the pop up will appear unless you are exactly on the right spot of the graphic. It is a hit and miss. In other words, there is competition between the pop-up and selecting redline graphics with the left mouse click. To work around this, I have had to make the graphic editing a right click, then they can go back to the left mouse click to edit the graphic. I have asked the question before if there are plans for ESRI to develop an identify tool or a manager similar to what was available in the web ADF, but nobody has given me an answer. Just know, that there is limited configuration with the pop-up and that is frustrating as a developer. The thing I do not like is that the pop up is on at all time, meaning that if you have several layers with the pop-up configured, you can be at full extent do a left mouse click on the map and a pop up appears. This is an annoying behavior. I would love to give a demo to ESRI to show the behavior I am describing.

I noticed this a few months ago. This is certainly a bug. Based on the tests I have done, NULL values give problems. There is no way we can guarantee not having NULL values. Hopefully this problem is fixed soon.

How can I get this tool to work with multiple layers? For instance, I want to be able to search for ID numbers for sewer, storm, water, and electric features all at once. Each of these layers has their own unique ID in the service URL. Right now, it only works against one layer. Is it possible to perform searches against multiple layers?

Hi Ian! No, unfortunately I haven't developed this as a standalone add-in. I'm developing a larger project where many add-ins are delivered in a single file and I dont have the time to extract it. I'll send you the code though, all you'll have to do is make an add-in out of it. Hopefully someone can help you if you can't do it. Best of luck! Hochas. . that will be great. If you can attach a .zip file. I will have a look at what you have done and can probably get an idea on how to convert it to a add-in tool. I am starting to work on add-ins. Again, I really appreciate your offer of supplying your code. Thanks.

I have done this using tools with custom cursor. The user draws a rectangle and the application then zooms to the extent. I can supply you with the code if you'd like. Johan, I am very interested in this code you provided or any guidance you might have. Did you develop this tool as a add-in? Jamal, If your tool works in desktop, then it should work in the server environment. At this time, I do not have any other suggestions that I can think of at this time. Try running the tool in desktop again, and re-publish as a service. You are running ArcGIS Server 10.1 and ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 correct?
