Mike, I'm sure there could be many reasons this is not currently being considered but having this or something similar seems to be a heavily requested item on the ideas.arcgis.com site. I currently see 4 related ideas on this that when combined add up to 620 points. That would currently put it in a tie for 3rd place of top idea requests for ArcGIS online that are not already flagged as under consideration or deferred. http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=08730000000bs1TAAQ http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=08730000000brteAAA http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=08730000000bsnrAAA http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=08730000000by59AAA

Much like users are adding data to a to webmap from a shp or csv file, it would be even better if we could do this from a Service Definition (.sd) file in the ArcGIS subscription offering. Thus, the data would retain all of the original published mxd properties, such as symbology and how the feature class was when it was first published to ArcGIS online. Any chance there are plans to allow this?

Mike, Any chance you speak to whether there are plans to add some way to store a GDB on ArcGIS Subscriptions to add/update/delete database transactions via ArcGIS online? Essentially, you publish your data from ArcMap. From the File menu, there's a Share As option. You want to share as a service. When you're logged in with a username that is part of the organization, you'll be able to publish to your organization. You can create a hosted feature or tiled map service. There really isn't a way to publish a GDB directly. Thanks, Mike

Mike, Do you know if there is a reason it's being restricted to one level? Does the Subscription version open that up to more levels? I'm getting worried about the clutter I'm beginning to see.

I'm beginning to find that number of web maps listed in my account is getting very long, especially when viewing them on the mobile apps. The folders have helped me reduce the size of the list but now I'm to the point where the folders are becoming too long. Unless I'm doing something wrong, it doesn't seem I can add Folders within another Folder. Am I doing something wrong or is this not possible? If it's not possible, I see this becoming a bigger issue for many of us as we be begin to add more and more maps.

Is there anyway to reduce the size of the margins that take over the print map option? I go to print a simple map in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop and the margins it gives are over 2" on both the top and bottom when printing in landscape or portrait. It ends up being a map with mostly white space. Any tricks to settings I can change to get to fill a legal size page better?

Those sites failed as well but I found a fix. So on the android device I went to Settings and then Location and security. I only had "Use GPS satellites" checked. Once I checked "Use wireless networks", I was then asked if my location could be used and when I clicked allow, it then zoomed to my current location and showed me. It was showing this same behavior on all geolocation web sites from within the browser. I imagine others may run into this problem if they have that setting unchecked. My guess is it's struggling to find the GPS satellites and thus shows nothing. Thanks again for your help.

That is not working either for this particular device. It just says "Current location not available". This particular Android device is not actually a phone but rather more a ipod type device but does have an actual GPS. So maybe that has something to do with why both sites are not working for this device.

I'm having trouble getting the geolocation/GPS feature to work when accessing the mobile version of arcgis.com with my android device. It allows me to click it and shows in blue like it's activated but it won't show any indication of where I'm at relative to the map I'm viewing. Also, it never asks if it can use my location information. The browser settings shows to make location available. The device I'm using is a Samsung Galaxy player running Android 2.3. I know the GPS works, since the ArcGIS Android apps works fine with it and shows the the location just fine. It's just this mobile web version that has trouble.

Thanks Mike, great to hear that there are future plans to add raster imagery via the subscription version.

I was hoping to find a way to add local raster georeferenced imagery to a map on ArcGIS.com. I was thinking WMS or KML file might a one route. But not sure how to setup my own WMS as this point since I don't have ArcGIS Server and not sure how to get imagery added to a KML file either. Or better yet maybe Esri is planning to add this as a new feature in either the free or for Organization version of ArcGIS online.

Mike, That is great to hear you want to provide the GP service in the future for a subscription. That will be a very powerful addition. To hopefully give you a better idea on what reporting capabilities I'm thinking of I will try to describe the need. What would be needed on is reports on a couple of different levels. One would just be a simple 1 page print out of a map with possibly just one layers legend. Say for example you have layer of points that have water surface temperatures sampled in several locations throughout a large lake. The legend could classify all points into 5 classes and displayed in the 1 page report. The second report would be a much more involved and closer to the data-driven pages in ArcMap that would be several pages and could include tables, charts, and maps of several layers of the same geography. Seems if the GP Service was available this may be possible with the use of Python scripts.

Thanks Amber for the response and information. Hopefully someone from Esri can confirm this too on here that geoprocessing will only be available if you have access to a Server license. It seems that will be pretty major limitation of this "For Organization Subscription" option. That is good to hear it comes with a commercial license for the Web API's though. That should give more options to add custom features. Sounds like it may be tough to truly test the subscription for organization beta without being on ArcMap 10.1.

Will the ArcGIS Online Subscription version give us the ability to add Geoprocessing services via templates or some other route? Also wondering if there will be any opportunities to add reporting capabilities where we could add a legend to map or even utilize the map layout setup in Arcmap when publishing a map service? If not, would be basically need a ArcGIS Server license and add this using the JavaScript API? Or can we use the JavaScript API independently of having a ArcGIS Server license?

Mike, Just to confirm. You're saying that the Arcview/Basic license will have most of the publishing capabilities to ArcGIS online for Organization, correct? The main one I'm thinking of is publishing a feature service so the web clients such as the iOS apps can't do feature editing. That would be available using the Basic Arcview license, correct?
