I'm trying to create a polygon grid using a boundary box for visual data review. I've tried to create the grid feature class in both an ArcSDE geodatabsae and a file geodatabase. Both locations result in the same error - 001076; failed to project grid geometry to spatial reference: GCS_North_American_1983. See full error message: The Data Reviewer workspace was setup in NAD_1983_UTM_Zone_11N projection system. The only feature class in my mxd is also in NAD_1983_UTM_Zone_11N. Why am I getting an error message about GCS coordinate system? During setup of the Data Reviewer workspace, I was unable to grant edit permission to the REVTABLEGUIPROPERTIES table, getting an error 9999999 - failed to execute. Also I was unable to grant select permission to the RevAdminCustomFields and RevAdminDescriptions tables, getting an error 9999999 - failed to execute. Could this be a permission issue? We have the ability to make organizational trusted certificates which are not really like self-signed but work more like a CA-trusted certificate on computers internal to our network. All the client machines in our network have a trusted certificate assoicated with Internet Explorer that recognize our organizational certificates for various servers. We had a difficult time creating the internal certificate so that ArcGIS Server would recognize it. Our IT security group had to submit a base-64 encoded request using the CSR generated request. They downloaded the certificate with its entire chain. We imported the machine certificate first, then the root and intermediate certificates. So I guess my answer is that it does indeed need to be a trusted certificate - CA trusted or internal domain trusted. The map services work fine with a self-signed certificate using SSL and token based authentication. But my Silverlight web maps would not accept the map services until the ArcGIS Server machine had a trusted certificate.

bubbahey25, My problem was that changing the password blew up ArcGIS Server and the web server. None of the websites for ArcGIS Server worked anymore. I got a message "cannot display page" on the manager, admin and rest services web sites. So I couldn't get into the manager to update the password. The ArcGIS Server service was running, but none of the websites worked. I contacted ESRI tech support and they said that the ArcGIS Engine was corrupted and recommended that I reinstall ArcGIS Server altogether. Thank goodness this was a test machine with no major services on it as yet. I will not be updating the password ever again - certainly on a production machine.

Make sure the SQL Server 64-bit Native client is installed on the ArcGIS Server server. Also, are you using a customized port on the SQL Server machine? We do. This is what my database connection information looks like:

ArcGIS Server 10.1 SP 1 I updated the password on the Primary Site Admin Account using Manager. See this instructions. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//0154000005p0000000 When it logged me out, the ArcGIS Server website no longer works. Rest, Admin and Manager sites are not able to connect (remotely or on the server itself). We tried restarting the ArcGIS Server service, restarting Tomcat, restating the server, but still the website does not work. The ArcGIS Server service says that it is running, but Tomcat keeps trying to start and shutting down (as seen in the log files). We went through the configure arcgis server account (post install) again, notta. We repaired the ArcGIS Server installation, notta. We confirmed that the primary stie admin account is not disabled (from the json file under security super). The Primary Site admin account is supposed to be different from the ArcGIS Server windows admin account. In our case, the server admin account is a windows domain account and totally separate from the Primary site account (which is local). So why would changing the password on the primary site admin account break the Tomcat web service??

Excellent! I'll add this to my notes. Only a restart of the ArcGIS Server service is needed. Thanks!

Have you put the path to the 64-bit client libraries before the path to the 32-bit libraries in the PATH environment variable? Since I don't have ArcGIS Desktop installed on the server, I don't need the 32-bit Oracle Client. I did discover the reason why ArcGIS Server was not recognizing the 64-bit Oracle client. I had to restart the server. Doh! I thought that setting up the PATH and TNS_ADMIN system variable would be enough. But it needed a reboot. Once I did, I was able to register the database and publish the map service.

We have the 64-bit Oracle client installed on our ArcGIS Server 10.1 server, but I am still getting an error message in ArcGIS Server when I try to register an Oracle Spatial database connection. The Oracle Spatial database connection works in ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 on my local machine. I am able to bring the table (without geometry) from Oracle Spatial into a map document and join it to a feature class. But I can??t publish the map document as a map service because the data source (Oracle Spatial) is not registered with ArcGIS Server. The message looks like ArcGIS Server cannot recognize the Oracle client. The connection property set was missing a required property or the property value was unrecognized. Cannot connect to database because the database client software failed to load. Be sure the database client software is installed and configured correctly. Any suggestions?

I wanted to do this too, but ArcGIS Server does not list the active directory groups, only the individual users. We have to add the Windows domain users into an ArcGIS Server role - one at a time.

I was not successful setting up Windows domain roles in ArcGIS Server 10.0. The Windows groups that ArcGIS Server listed were not the same as the Active Directory groups I wanted to select. We ended up using the option for "users from Windows? and ??roles from ArcGIS Server?. This setup ended up being the best option since our GIS group does not have permission to add/remove users from a group in active directory, but we can create our own role in ArcGIS Server and add any windows users we want to that group.

The crossdomain and clientaccesspolicy files should reside in the root of the web server directory. For IIS, the default location for this directory is C:\inetpub\wwwroot. However.....If you are not using the web adaptor, then your map services are being consumed directly from the GIS Server which uses Tomcat. I have updated these files in the Tomcat root directory and not had a problem with it. It is always a good idea to make a copy of the original file before you modify it, but I would make access restrictions on the files in the Tomcat root. ESRI has provided these files with generic policy access and wildcards. Its hard to believe that they would tell you not to modify these files. If you do mess them up, here's a copy of the original files. Client Access Policy http://server.arcgisonline.com/clientaccesspolicy.xml Cross Domain http://server.arcgisonline.com/crossdomain.xml

To provide more detail, here's what worked for me in ArcGIS Server 10.1 and ArcGIS Viewer for Flex 3.3. I created a token for the "IP". This IP address refers to the GIS Server or the Web Adaptor server - depending on which one you are pointing to for map services. Add the token to the Flex Viewer Configure Layer window. Configure the print widget as normal - providing the Export Web Map Task URL. And it works. Using the HTTP referer to create the token was fine with displaying the map services, but resulted in a connection error when using the print widget.
