Thank you - the .pdf seems to indicate that tracking in some form or another is on the horizon (.pdf is hard to read as the version I am seeing has a lot of white text on a white background....). Appreciate you taking the time to respond!

I came upon a "Tracking" code share for survey123 here - https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=eef21f25b617446ebfbb9ae0a43c01b1 - but it doesn't have any information on what it does, what is needed, how to install. Does anyone know if it could be added to a survey to allow real time tracking data to be streamed to a stream feature layer (hosted in ArcGIS Online or in ArcGIS Enterprise). I.e. have survey123 get more than just a geopoint for each survey location? There is no description, installation instructions, etc. and I haven't been able to find anything on how to implement a .survey123addin Thank you

Hi, I have a hosted feature layer (points) in an ArcGIS Online map. The attributes for each point consist of monthly chloride values for about thirteen years of measurements. The current attributes (headings) are formatted like this: F1_1_1973 F2_1_1973 F3_1_1973 F4_1_1973 . . . F12_1_2016 Each month has a measured chloride value. I don't want to change the measured value, rather I'm wondering if Arcade (maybe in combination with HTML?) can be used to change the attribute heading (i.e. give it an alias) without having to type in the alias for every single month in the Configure Attributes setting of the Map Viewer. Ultimately I'm looking for a way to have the Pop-up list the chloride values as: January 1, 1973 February 1, 1973 March 1, 1973 April 1, 1973 . . . December 1, 2016 Suspecting I'll need to this in python with arcpy before moving the feature class into ArcGIS Online, but thought I'd ask just in case Arcade has a function(s) to change headers that I'm missing. Thank you Lynn

ArcGIS Pro 2.1 - created a local scene which has three layers on top of an elevation surface (the latter is a tiled cache in ArcGIS Online). I want to share the scene with nonGIS co-workers via ArcGIS Online so they have a way to interact with the data (turn, rotate, zoom in, etc). I choose Share > Web Scene. I Analyze and get following message "Feature Layer is displaying more than 2000 features". And a warning that "extruded features will be flattened". The fishnet (see graphic attached) has 5,172 features and I need that level of detail so my colleagues can see the variation in the surface. I extruded it so there would be a "base" to give an exaggerated sense of the surface. I've seen some very elaborate web scenes however (esri_3d's own Visualize Developments in the Gallery) that seem like they Must have feature layers with more than 2000 features in them, as well as extruded features (building footprints)? So then I shared the layers, and got them into ArcGIS Online, but trying to add to the Scene Viewer generates the same error of having too many features. Seems I cannot do what I hoped to then which is to share the 3d scene unless I take out some of the detail? Just want to make sure I am not missing something because again, I've seen amazing scenes that definitely appear to have more than 2000 features in any given layer.... Options?

Thank you - on the chart properties I only see the ability to change the display units of the axes. Data are in meters, coordinate system WGS_1984 UTM Zone 17N. The 3d lines were interpolated from a Digital Elevation Model also in WGS_1984 UTM Zone 17N Update - problem solved.....exported the data out of the gdb to a shapefile. Using ArcMap 3D analyst profile graphs I found that for each line, there was an extra segment that had somehow snapped back on itself. Pretty sure the Profile Graph in Pro showed me this overlapping arc as a continuation of the line - not sure why.... Thank you for responding to my original post.

I have a simple line feature class with z values. There are 20 lines that are each 56 meters in length. The z values were generated using the Interpolate Shape tool within 3d analyst toolbox. Using ArcGIS Pro 2.1.1, I am creating Profile Graphs of each of the 20 lines. In these graphs, the x axis for every line extends to over 80 meters. At first I thought the horizontal distance might be inclusive of the terrain, but regardless of the terrain (z value) complexity, the horizontal distance does not vary. If I create a profile graph in ArcGIS Desktop 10.6 with the exact same data set, the x axis distance for all profile graphs is consistently set to what I would expect - 56 meters - which ignores variability of the terrain, but at least doesn't consistently add 20+ meters. Can anyone help? What am I missing? Thanks

When creating a blank Pro project from the Create a New Project dialog, add two more options underneath the option to Create a new folder for this project - one option - Create a New File Geodatabase with the ability to toggle on / off depending on whether you will need a new file geodatabase. The second option would be Create a New ToolBox with the same toggle on / off. IMHO, it is just not necessary to have a new geodatabase and a new toolbox for every single project I create.

In case anyone is looking for an iOS app that will work with GeoEvent Server, I have finally found SensorLog by Bernd Thomas. He was kind enough to update it so that it run in the background. It is $4.00 but will connect on a REST endpoint. You can find it here - SensorLog on the App Store

Would this SDK be the correct place to start if one wanted to create an app for iPhones that would send locations, device id, accuracy, etc. from the GPS in the phone to GeoEvent Server? Been searching for an existing app and cannot find one. There are lots of "trackers" but not any that can be customized to send json or geojson to the geoevent server URL. Most of them send to their own servers which you have to pay for. Thinking I need to find a developer/iOS coder who can create one, and am therefore wondering if using this SDK has the "right stuff". Thank you.

Thanks for this note. I have experienced exactly the same thing and searched for sanity. I've gone through all the recommendations to speed things up and no matter what I do, Pro is still significantly slower than Desktop even when working with data that is local. And it crashes. I so wish that your suggestions to clear the display cache (which only had a couple hundred MB), and setting the multi sample for antialiasing suggestions had worked, but alas, on my machine there appears to be no difference. GP tools take anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple minutes longer to complete in Pro than Desktop. I just wanted to thank you though because I take solace in finding others out there who are experiencing similar frustrations. I want Pro to work, and I want / need to incorporate it into my teaching and research, but ..... I too have the "trust issues".

It has been very challenging to find ready to go apps for IOS and Android that can send real time location data to REST endpoints as an input connector to GeoEvents. There is one for Anroid that I finally got working, but iOS remains elusive. Since smartphones are ubiquitos, it seems natural that there should be an esri built app that can eaisly talk to geoevent.

Hi Mr. Ayres, Thank you so very much for putting this together. I am not too familiar with data dictionaries yet, so this will be a great way for me to learn about them. I am going to study this code and make sure I understand how it is working. I expect it will be applicable to future applications as well and I really appreciate your taking the time to help me.

There probably is but as a python newbie I could not figure it out. Would love any advice that would make it more efficient if anyone has a moment. And maybe there is even an existing GP tool that I am overlooking. I have several hundred tables. Each table represents measurements recorded on a specific date. Each row in a given table represents a measurement of chlorophyll at a specific monitoring station (Station) and depth (negdepth_m). Station repeats itself. Here is a snapshot of one of my tables: For each table, I need to determine the Maximum Chlorophyll that occurs at any given Station. I found this is easy to accomplish using arcpy.Statistics_analysis with Station as the Case Field. arcpy.Statistics_analysis(in_table, out_table, statistics_fields="lab_calib_chlorophyll MAX", case_field="Station") However, for each Max Chlorophyll value for each Station, I also need to retain and write out the negdepth_m at which that Maximum lab_calib_chlorophyll value was measured. Perhaps the Statisitcs_analysis tool is somehow tracking the other fields present as it finds the MAX, but I could not find a way to expose and write out the corresponding negdepth_m. So I resorted to generating an expression using a search cursor: eg Station = BBT1 and MAX_lab_calib_chlorophyll = 18.96339 which would then select and tag the matching record back in the original table (maxtag = y). This is where I ran into trouble because in many cases MAX_lab_chlorophyll had 15 digits after the decimal 18.963390000000006 so the expression did not result in a selected record. Thank you for any techniques that would make this easier if you have a moment to explain.
