Dear @Andrew--Johnson & @KoryKramer , My general workflow with DEMs is to tint and hillshade them and finally visualize them in Local Scene—and use the DEM itself as elevation source. Sometimes, I also used to use the 2D Map with elevation source as @KoryKramer mentioned to draw elevation profiles (not available at the 3D Exploratory Analysis if there is no active elevation source). Drag & Drop; Copy/Paste functionality: If you already have a DEM layer in 2D layers (in Local Scene) you can drag & drop the layer into the ground, but in this case the layer is removed from the 2D layers and will be available as ground only. At this point you are not able to drag the layer back from Ground to 2D layers. A right-click drag & drop fuctionality --like in Windows to copy a file--would be nice here. If you are working in 2D Map there is no Ground to drop the layer. Copy/Paste: If you copy a pre-existing DEM from the 2D layers you are not allowed to paste into the Groud. If you work in 2D there is no Ground. And same for the opposite direction: if you copy an elevation source you won't be able to paste it as a 2D layer. So the only option today is add the data twice: once for 2D layer and once for elevation--or drag & drop it twice from the catalog, but only in Scene. But meanwhile I had a better idea: Add a "Layer & Ground" or "Add Layer as Ground" (next to the Ground) option to the "Add Presets" DropDown (at Map/Layers) to immediateley add a DEM both as layer and as groud either for Map or for Scene. Thank you! Ákos Halmai

Please, add a “Use as ground” entry to the single-band raster layers’ local menu (where the “Symbology” and the “Zoom to Layer” is located”). It would be a perfect tool for DEM comparison (creating profiles, detecting LiDAR classification errors, integrating manual geodetic measurements into remote sensing datasets). Now, I have to add the DEM as Ground and then I have to add the DEM itself as a raster layer. It would be easier to add the raster layer and then right-click and select “Use as Ground” or “Add to Ground” or something similar. The opposite would be also appreciated: having an entry in a Ground or other surface layers local menu saying, “Use as raster layer”. Alternatively, it could be implemented trough bi-directional drag & drop with Ctrl/Shift/Alt modification key. This functionality could be introduced into the “Add presets” gallery too: “Add Ground & Raster Layer”. H.Á.

ArcGIS Pro’s Layout is designed for publishing with several printing related functionality. The listed page sizes in the insert new layout gallery corresponds to classic printing formats and paper sizes. But today, many of us are producing maps for screen display. After the “ISO – Landscape” section add a new list: “Screen Rations – Nominal Sizes”. In this list, there will be 4:3, 16:9, 16:10, etc. Choose the longer side of this ratio to match the longer side of A/4 or Letter to avoid font size confusions. In this case, the size would be fake, but the result would perfectly fit to the selected screen.

Now (ArcGIS Pro 2.6), in the Create Feature Class / Create Table Wizard, it is not possible to edit the alias property of an automatically generated field. If I would like to change the OBJECTID’s field alias from “OBJECTID” to “№”, or the SHAPE field alias from “SHAPE” to “Geometry” I have to create the table / feature class, go to the geodatabase, right-click on the table / fc, Design, Fields, and then rename the alias there. It would be easier to change the alias right in the wizard immediately.

Now, date fields in Enterprise Geodatabases can't handle millisecond values if the table/feature class is stored in MSSQL-based Enterprise Geodatabase. In field of geophysics this feature would be essential. See this related idea: https://community.esri.com/ideas/16842-add-time-to-arcgis-pros-units-page

On the ArcGIS Pro --> Options --> Units page we can customize Area, Distance, Location etc. units. It would be great if we could customize time units too, like date/time fields in attribute tables. Now, ArcGIS relies on the time display settings of the system. But what should I do if I would like to print a time value (and store as a time value) like yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.fff (with millisecond values) in the attribute table (without python formatting and conversion to string)? Currently, it is impossible to set certain (like the previously mentioned) formats in the time settings of the system.

It is still possible to run the ArcGIS Diagrammer, even with ArcGIS 10.6.: Just install the Diagrammer from the following link: https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=51b6066bfd024962999f6903682d8978 Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.6\bin and locate the ArcMap.exe.config file. Open it in Notepad or Notepad++ and copy the whole content. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS Diagrammer\BIN and locate the ESRI.ArcGIS.ArcDiagrammer.exe.config file open it, and paste the content of the ArcMap.exe.config file. Save it. You probably need administrative privileges to do so. Go to C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\ESRI.ArcGIS.Geodatabase\v4.0_10.6.0.0__8fc3cc631e44ad86 and copy ESRI.ArcGIS.Geodatabase.dll and paste to C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS Diagrammer\BIN. You probably need administrative privileges. Go to C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\ESRI.ArcGIS.System\v4.0_10.6.0.0__8fc3cc631e44ad86 and copy ESRI.ArcGIS.System.dll and paste to C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS Diagrammer\BIN. You probably need administrative privileges. Voilà! Start C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS Diagrammer\BIN\ESRI.ArcGIS.ArcDiagrammer.exe. Warning! This is not a new version, still the old Diagrammer. Some new geoadatbase features, like editor tracking and new annotations from Pro are not supported. You can export the created xml and import into a new geodatabase, however you won’t be able to open a newly exported workspace document xml in the Diagrammer. So now it is a one way tool. The Diagrammer uses workspace document xml version 9.2, the 2.3 Pro uses 10.7. so there is no way going back. But it is still OK for me. The paths may vary depending on your installations and ArcGIS version. The solution is not working with ArcGIS Pro, you need to have an ArcGIS for Desktop ArcMap installed. This solution is not perfect just a workaround–use at your own risk. Ákos Halmai

I can't give a working Java code, but in C# it looks like this (below). However, it won't create a file, the result is a folder. It is a totally empty GDB. [MethodImpl(MethodImplOptions.AggressiveInlining)] private static Geodatabase CreateFileGDB(string GDBPath) { // Test the argument: const string NameOfGDBPath = nameof(GDBPath); if (string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(GDBPath)) throw new ArgumentNullException(NameOfGDBPath, "Geodatabase path cannot be null; empty or whitespace-only string."); DirectoryInfo directoryInfo = new DirectoryInfo(GDBPath); if (!directoryInfo.Parent.Exists) throw new DirectoryNotFoundException("The parent directory (" + directoryInfo.Parent.FullName + ") was not found!"); if (directoryInfo.Exists) directoryInfo.Delete(true); //Create the GDB: return Geodatabase.Create(directoryInfo.FullName); }

Hi, The problem is in the SQL query: it seems, there is no planer/optimiser in FileGDBApi. To execute the original SQL ($"SELECT count(*) FROM TableName WHERE OBJECTID=1 or OBJECTID=2") takes 4466 ms on my table but to execute this one is only 16 ms on first run and 1 ms on second run: "SELECT Count(*) FROM Original WHERE OBJECTID IN (1, 2);" The full code: RowCollection rows = GDB.ExecuteSQL("SELECT Count(*) FROM Original WHERE OBJECTID IN (1, 2);"); foreach (Row row in rows) // Just to be generic. { int i = (int)row.GetDouble(0); } Ákos Halmai
