I agree with @BobBooth1. 1. It sounds like you have correctly filtered your polygon layer, great! Remaining decisions are mostly about excluding features in your lines layer to lower the number of credits consumed. 2. For the environment settings you have a few viable options: Processing extent: You have a few options: Layer - This will use the extent defined on the layer (even if you have a filter, it's pulling it from the original layer), and isn't filtering down the features. This will produce the same result as below, but will cost more credits than if you exclude some features for analysis (via other env settings). Display extent - this will help help cut down on credit consumption. Note that it won't "clip" the input features, it will use anything that intersects with your display extent. I would recommend using this option, and make sure when you run the analysis you are "viewing" the area of interest. If you don't want think about what's covered in the extent when you run the data, you can choose "Coordinates" and then "Set coordinated from display" - this will set the extent when you click the button, and won't change even if you zoom or pan around before clicking run. Output coordinate system - I would keep it as the default unless you know your result should be in a different coordinate system than the inputs. Another option, if you have a way to filter the roads based on region, you could also do that. Then when you run the analysis, it would only use your roads within Burford. Currently, you have > 260,000 features of roads, and it looks like you probably only care about a very small subset of them. So if you can filter them on an attribute, I would recommend that over the environment settings. A future note - if this is data you continuously use in the future, and you only care about Burford you could make a view of the data. Then, you could use the view in the future (which lets you apply spatial and attribute filters on a layer) and they look like they are a layer in your org. Doing that would mean you wouldn't need to filter the next time you open it in the map, nor would you mistakenly run analysis on all the features. https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/manage-data/create-hosted-views.htm I don't think you need to make a view for this analysis, it's more to make long term maintenance + analysis easier once you've figured out your future needs + complete this analysis.

Hi @LGriff, I was able to reproduce the issue @IntgPlsC reported, but I wasn't able to find an issue in the species distribution tutorial. Can you please let me know if you're still seeing that issue and aren't working with Support Service already. If so, can you create a new post and share the details about what step you're seeing it at and screenshot the inputs to the tool that's resulting in 0? I think the potential gotchya is setting the environment settings as the display extent in Overlay Layers - so when you run that tool please make sure you're centered on Africa. Thank you, Sarah Ambrose

Hi @IntgPlsC, I've been able to reproduce this issue on my end, thank you for finding it. While we look into it, can you please try using the "DC Detailed Ward Boundaries" as input to the Enrich Layer tool instead of the "DC Ward Boundaries". Currently, the issue looks isolated to that layer. Thanks again for letting us know, Sarah Ambrose Web Analysis Product Engineer

Hi @GrayElkington you can either "clip" the features using the overlay layers tool (union option) or put a filter on the polygon features. Option 1: Use the Overlay tool Add the line layer and polygon layer to the map Create a filter on the polygon layer (I'm assuming your Parishes Boundaries layer has a field you can filter on). Something like "Area == Burford". See screenshot on filtering below. Run Overlay Layers -> Intersects with the lines and filtered polygons. Make sure the output geometry is set to "Line" This should result in the lines that are within the Burford Area. Another option requires fewer tool runs, and is similar: Add the point and line layers to the map Apply the filter to the polygon layer (as you did before) Run Summarize Within using the filtered layer I think those should both work. Here is what setting a filter looks like: Select the layer you want to filter Click the filter button Set the condition to specify the features of interest Save it Once you save it, you will only see the filtered features on the map. Here are a few references to help: - https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-online/analytics/tips-and-tricks-for-selecting-subsets-of-data-for-analysis-in-map-viewer - https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/create-maps/apply-filters-mv.htm Please let me know if that doesn't address your needs, Sarah Ambrose Product Engineer Web Analysis

Hi @PaulJohns , I'm happy to troubleshoot here, but will have a few questions - so it might be faster to go through support. Can you help me out with a few details? - What version of Enterprise are you using? - Do you only see this failure with certain datasets? Are the Extract tool runs that pass using the same input datasets and parameters that fail? - You mentioned two bugs - do your datasets meet those criteria? - Have you turned on debug logs and checked the traceback messages? If so, can you share them here? - Are you running the tools through Experience Builder, Map Viewer, or something else? We haven't seen this during testing, but if you're able to confirm your workflow I can try and reproduce it exactly. Currently, I'd assume you're running the extract tool with the same parameters and outputting it to KML. Let me know if there are additional details and I can try those. Thank you, Sarah Ambrose Product Engineer, Web Analysis

Hi @Jay_Gregory, Great question - the requirements for ModelBuilder in Online are outlined here: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/analyze/licensing-modelbuilder-mv.htm I think it's most likely that you don't have the correct user type. Can you please verify that you are a professional or professional plus? Please let me know if that doesn't enable ModelBuilder for you. It should be available even if you're not in the early adaptor program. Thanks, Sarah Ambrose, Product Engineering Lead, Web Analysis

Hi again @CW-GIS , I tried out the following workflow today and analysis worked for me on Enterprise 11.2. Please let me know if you are testing something different. Create a layer in ArcGIS Online and add to my distributed collaboration group (by reference). In ArcGIS Enterprise, open that layer (I opened from my orgs content pane) in Map Viewer Classic. Open an analysis tool like Create Buffers and populate the tool with parameters (and use the layer from #2) Run the tool. I saw the result show up in the map. I completed the same workflow: using the "copy" option instead of by reference using the new Map Viewer, instead of Map Viewer classic. and all iterations worked. Looking forward to hearing from you, Sarah

Hi @CW-GIS, Can you clarify where you are trying to run analysis and see the message that the container is empty. Are you seeing this in Map Viewer Classic in Enterprise? Which looks like this? Can you include a screenshot of where you are seeing this message? That will help us test and diagnose what's going on. Thanks, Sarah, Product Engineer on Web Analysis

We've created an FAQ here about why you might not see the analysis button in Map Viewer: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-online-blog/faq-why-don-t-i-see-the-analysis-button-in-map/ba-p/1346090

Hi @PanGIS, If you are using ArcGIS Online, you need to meet the following requirements to see the Analysis button in the new Map Viewer: You have credits (I think 10 should be fine) You have the correct privileges' (see: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/analyze/licensing-analysis-mv.htm) You must have a hosted layer in your org. I can't tell from the above if you've created a hosted layer in your organization. If you're not sure, please try and publish a hosted layer via Pro, or uploading a zipped shp or filegdb. Once that's been published, reopen map viewer and see if the analysis button shows up. If you think you meet all three of those criteria, and you're still not seeing the button, please contact Esri customer support and they can work through it with you. If you are using ArcGIS Enterprise, you won't see analysis in Map Viewer until ArcGIS Enterprise 11.2, as @MikeGarcia noted. Thanks, Sarah Ambrose Product Engineer, Web Analysis

Hi @MobiusSnake I'm on the web analysis teams and can answer these questions. You are right, in Map Viewer we now keep a history of analysis in the map so you can easily rerun tools, review failures and messages, and iterate on your analysis. There is documentation on history here. So for your specific questions: 1. The only things stored in history are what you see in the history panel. This includes: The parameters (including input layer URL and filters) Any errors or warnings about the job The time it completed, the status, and any credits consumed The output layer 2. The history is stored within your web map. If you don't save the web map, your history is gone. 3. You can delete the history items by clicking on the X. You also don't need to save the web map, if you just want your results, and have no need for the history. Please let us know if you have any follow up questions, Sarah Ambrose Product Engineer, Web Analysis

Hi @Jay_Gregory, great question. To create a layer that only has unique points, you can use a few tools in succession to create a polygon for each point, dissolve the overlapping polygons to find unique locations, and then find the centroid of each unique polygon to create the unique points. Below is a workflow to complete this: Run Create Buffers on the geocoded points. Use a small distance, like 1 foot. For other parameters, use the tool defaults. Run Dissolve Boundaries on the Create Buffer output. There is now a single polygon at each unique geocoded location. Run Find Centroids on the Dissolve Boundaries output. This will create a unique point for each unique location. [Optional]If you want to keep the attributes from your original data, you can use Join Features to add the attribute data to the new point layer. The target layer will be the Find Centroids output and the join layer will be the original data. Perform Drive Time Analysis like you planned to. Thank you again for the great question - we’ll be sure to look at how we can create this functionality into a single tool in the future. Please let us know if this works or you have any questions. If you are using ArcGIS Online, try out the tools in the new Map Viewer so you can take advantage of new features like an updated UI and history. Thanks for the feedback @ClayDonaldsonSWCA We're working towards building a model like experience for analysis as well, using the same components and interface. Currently, we plan to keep Data Pipelines as it's own application, focused on data prep. Analysis, and model builder will be in the Map Viewer, so that you can perform more interactive analysis and take advantage of things like filtering, symbology, and charting. You will be able to use your layers created through Data Pipelines in analysis, so the two apps will be companions to one another. Sarah Ambrose Product Engineer, Web Analysis
