Most of other applications uses location service to access the location. The location can be from GPS/Wi-Fi/Cellular.. The approach of Collector Android is different. It is trying to access deeper level of Android system and talk to GPS directly via NMEA. If it fails to use NMEA message, it will show the message and use location service instead. Here are two things I notice: 1) in several consumer Android device, it doesn't honor NMEA standard strictly. For example, the maximum characters for one sentence is 82 characters, but we will see much more characters in some sentences from those consumer Android device. 2) Compared with Android Collector 10.4.2, the message prompts more often in Collector Android 17.0.1 or 17.0.2. We are aware of this issue. I have created an issue internally to revisit this message behavior and see if we can improve the tolerance of those NMEA messages.

If NMEA is output on bluetooth port, usually Collector should be able to process it. But you need to make sure NMEA is actually outputted to the bluetooth and no other application is using. In Windows, you can use this software http://www.putty.org/ and set Connection type into Serial to access NMEA from COM port exposed from bluetooth. You can find out COM port for bluetooth by right clicking Bluetooth icon> Open Setting>COM ports. Note: if other application is using the same port, Putty app won't be able to access due to bluetooth contention. If you can see NMEA is output at putty app, close putty app and run Collector. The same thing applies to Android platform. You can use External GPS - Bluetooth GPS https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=googoo.android.btgps&hl=en at Android platform to test NMEA output. Ryan, With yesterday ArcGIS Online March release, here is what you can do. You can create two hosted feature layer view instead of using layer copies and add those two views into the webmap (Create hosted feature layer views—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS). Then you define feature visibility based on Manage hosted feature layers—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS . -Morgan

I think your R2 receiver is sub-foot version instead of centimeter version. That is why you can only see 7cm instead of 1cm accuracy. If you have centimeter version, you should be able to see RTK fix.

Different publish methods can affect the spatial reference of feature service, which will change the spatial reference of exported file geodatabase. If you have File GDB with NAD83 2011 and upload zip file into ArcGIS Online, the data is reprojected into WGS_1984_Web_Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere. When you export File GDB from this feature service, the spatial reference of exported File GDB will become WGS_1984_Web_Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere, which is different from your original NAD83_2011. In this case, you need to make sure in ArcMap, you need to configure geographic coordinate system transformation during data comparison. If you would like to have the same spatial reference between exported File GDB and the original File GDB, you should use ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro to publish feature service and make sure data frame in ArcMap or Coordinate System in Pro Map Properties to be the same as original File GDB.

Jacqueline/Shelby, I have seen the issue about " A cellular or wifi connection is required" before. But I haven't been able to reproduce it. Can you elaborate the steps to reproduce it? After you take data and basemap offline, what do you do? Do you close the app and open again? Is the device wi-fi only or with cellular network? Thanks - Morgan

Andrew, I think if you look at NMEA output from GeoXH, probably it doesn't report GST sentence, which is required for accuracy report. If no GST is reported, Collector will do some rough estimate. You can find more info at GPS receiver support—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS -Morgan

Jason, The webmap coordinate system is based on basemap. If you are using Esri imagery as basemap, you should create location profile with WGS1984 Web Mercator (3857) as map coordinate system. -Morgan

Xing, We don't officially support this 30 pin Bad elf GPS. But we support other Bad elf GPS listed at GPS receiver support—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS . This 30 pin dock connector can still overrides location in integrated sensor. You can set "integrated receiver" in Collector as GPS Receivers to access it indirectly. -Morgan

Alison, Do you say GNSS status is reporting 10 feet accuracy but Collector shows better accuracy? You see inconsistency accuracy report between Collector and GNSS status app. Is my understanding correct? Do you see it all the time or only when it loss real-time correction? Thanks -Morgan

As Eric suggest, required accuracy setting is a good way to get an alert to this situation. You can also use GNSS Status app as additional test tool to check reported accuracy. It should be the same as the accuracy reported at Collector.
