I voted on this idea as soon as i saw it. Unfortunately it did not seem to get much attention, nor has it been addressed in the 2.0 release.

Ok...so I can (sort of) understand not allowing the user to connect to the root of the local disk, but it makes no sense not to allow connections to the root of a mapped network drive. The “root” location in this case is just my DFS file server, pulling from various shares on my network that house all my GIS data. It’s not actually the root of any single disk, and there are no operating system files or installed programs - it’s an arbitrary drive map letter. I don't want to add ~50 folder connections for every share on my mapped DFS.

I'm not sure what User Account Control has to do with anything here, I don't need elevated privileges. Security being the reason behind not allowing ArcGIS Pro to add folder connections at the drive root doesn't really make sense to me either - this can be easily thwarted by adding a symbolic link to the drive root, and you're in: Additionally, my mapped network drive root is really just pointing to my organization's DFS file server. It's not actually the "root" of any machine, it's just a collection of folder shares from various network locations.

I was not able to find the root cause of this issue. However, I was able to create a new, empty solution, and rebuild my add-in by copying over the code and resources. Marking question as assumed answered.

I was reading the connect to a folder ArcGIS Pro help page, and I noticed this limitation: ArcGIS Pro does not support adding folder connections to the project that access the root node of any disk, for example, C:\ or D:\. Can anyone provide an explanation as to why this is so? Connecting to a root drive location has always worked in ArcMap.

I'm working on an add-in for ArcGIS Pro, and I am having some trouble hitting breakpoints in my code when debugging via Visual Studio. I am receiving a warning stating "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document." I had previous been able to debug the add-in and hit my breakpoints in the code, but I'm not sure what I did. After add a few new controls, I seem to be unable to hit any breakpoints in the code. I've googled around a bit and tried some solutions found in StackOverflow and elsewhere, but I can't seem to resolve this issue. Has this happened to anyone else before? Additionally, when I click one of the controls in my add-in, nothing seems to happen, and then the control will turn gray and become disabled. I haven't seen this behavior before and I'm not sure what I did, as everything was working as expected earlier today.

Thank you for the reply - this solved my issue. Good to know that I need to set the build action when I bring in some more custom icons.

I can't seem to get the icon images to display in my ArcGIS Pro Add-ins. I'm using the default sample icons provided in the ArcGIS Pro SDK Community Samples. Here is a quick screenshot of my solution, showing the folders where the images are saved, and the Config.daml file where they are referenced: However, the icons do not get displayed when the add-in is executed: The icons DO work for the sample add-in projects, however. The image files and location are the same in my solution and the sample solution. The markup referencing the images is the same as well. What should I be looking for in my solution to properly set an image as the ribbon button icon in ArcGIS Pro?

Thank you for the reply - I did a reboot immediately after posting the question and it seems to have solved the issue. I am now seeing the add-in tab, custom tabs, and all the controls when debugging. The project is also listed the add-in manager. To answer the question from your reply, the add-ins were created for version 2.0, but I do appreciate the links you provided. The migration guide was very helpful.

I'm working on some ArcGIS Pro add-ins and all of the sudden it appears that I cannot see or access the add-ins in Pro. I'm running the add-ins from Visual Studio 2015 debug mode, as documented in the ArcGIS Pro SDK Community Samples. However, the add-ins are no longer visible anywhere in Pro, either in the Add-in tab or elsewhere. I didn't change any settings in Pro or make any other system changes that I'm aware of that could possibly affect ArcGIS Pro. I do not see anything in the Add-In manger when Pro starts in debug mode: How do I set Pro to once again detect the add-ins I am working on in Visual Studio? System specs: Windows 7 64-bit, ArcGIS Pro 2.0.0, Visual Studio 2015

When right clicking a project in Visual Studio 2015 and selecting Add > New item > ArcGIS Pro Add-ins, an error message stating "Value does not fall within expected range." is displayed. Visual Studio then presents the Add New Item dialog box again. After clicking "OK" on the error message, the newly added control appear to be functioning normally. I googled this error quickly and saw some suggestions to delete the .user and .suo files and the bing and obj folders, however the error message still persists. Has anyone else experienced this?

lol interesting post. Is it possible to log GPS data from a device in the fueling vehicle? See if they're just driving to and from where they're supposed to - maybe they're stopping at home and topping off their own vehicles?

After speaking with Esri tech support, they informed me that enterprise logins for ArcGIS Online are not currently supported by the Python API. No timeline was given for implementation of this feature, but I was informed there is an enhancement request open. I will leave this post here for future reference for anybody else with the same inquiry.
