Ken -- if you've found the right CSS property to override that color you can pass that in via a <style> tag in the HTML editor in any section to make the change permanently. Check this blog out for more detail on how to do that: https://developerscorner.storymaps.arcgis.com/using-custom-html-in-map-journal-70913cfff66e Owen

Hi Aravind, Since the cover always positions the image to fill the screen it will always crop a different portion of the image depending on the browser shape/size of the person viewing your story. You'll need to crop the image before you upload it so that the parts you always want visible are close to the center of the image. I think if you cropped out the entire bottom half of your image (so your face is in the middle of the remaining portion) it should work well. In future releases we are thinking about adding tools to help you position images after uploading. Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback with a good example of when these tools would be helpful. Owen

Hi Charlene, My answers in-line below: I like this new template but have several questions.... Will there be any tools to change the size, color of the text?Or should all of that be handled outside of the app, and then the text/code pasted into the story map? If so, will there be a way to show the HTML code as in other story map apps? I do not see any way to change the color of the title text on the cover page or any of the title areas. Yes, we are definitely looking at more text formatting options like lists, colors, etc. for next release. Currently, any formatting will be stripped out when you paste text into your story. Cover page - title required? I have an image I'd like to use as my cover & it has text, but I cannot save my story without entering a title. Yup, I totally get that that. We'll consider hiding the title/subtitle on the cover as an enhancement. Is there/will there be a way to have 2 media entries side by side instead of inline? Or other types of layout options? That is available now for images. Insert an image, hover over it, then click the + in the lower right corner of the image. You can have up to four images in a row. We want to do more with this in future releases in terms of layouts. The text box on the side of the 'immersive' is a bit too responsive IMO- the box does not appear until one scrolls the map and its a little distracting/misleading You can try the other style of panel (fade) to see if you like it better. Click the gear in the upper right of the panel and select the option on the right under "Scrolling" Is this template available on Github? I don't really want to build a custom one (and I really can't with my skillset) but I hope to download the app & host on my server as with other story maps. Yup, link is on the Cascade page on the story maps website or go right here: https://github.com/Esri/storymap-cascade I do not see a way to get the 'view' options under the 'appearance' section of an added web map enabled- is this currently available? This works a little differently than Map Journal -- The buttons under View are for resetting anything you've changed in the map. If you move the map to a new location, change the visible layers (using the layer list in the upper right), or make a pop-up visible those changes are saved to that view of the map when you close the config panel by clicking the checkmark. If you want to undo anything you've changed you use the reset/clear buttons. with an embedded web map- the designer can decide which map layers to show but is that something the user can do as well? turn on /off layers? How about showing a legend? We are considering legends and features similar to Map Journal's main stage actions for a future release so that authors can design ways to help their readers interact with maps in a deliberate way. Looking forward to this app's development....although I would have preferred a little more control over the look & feel as with other apps before this was made available. But maybe I am just not finding some of these tools! I'm doing a series of blogs about Cascade and using its builder -- the first few are available already, more coming in the coming weeks. Hi Spencer, Cascade is a completely different data model to support the new storytelling pattern it offers. Someday we hope to get to the point where you can easily change which story map app you use for a single story, but we're not there yet. 😉 For now you can copy text from another story map into your Cascade story, and of course you can simply point to any maps or scenes that you have created for other stories in the Cascade Builder, so they would not have to be recreated or duplicated. Thanks for the great feedback, Annina! We are planning to add more ways to let contributors pick a location in future releases, including clicking on the map to place the pin, dragging the pin on the map, and reading a geotag right from the photo (if the photo was taken with a GPS-enabled camera like an iPhone or Android phone). We also plan to enhance the interaction between the photo panel and the map, so thanks for your idea! Owen

Hi Lea, Map Tour is designed to accept a web map id that has your tour points. The appid you are referring to in the code isn't the id of a web mapping application item, it's an appid that you get when you register your app on ArcGIS online. See the link below for more details. Add items—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS Could you please provide a bit more detail about what you are trying to do by feeding in another app to Map Tour? Owen

Whenever you create a story map from My Content or by sharing a web map and clicking Create a Web App you have the choice to create the story map in any of your folders. If you create the story map from the story map website the story will go in your Home folder, but you can always move it later using the tools in My Content that let you manage your items. Owen

Hi Naomi, The relationship between your story map app and ArcGIS Online web maps is the same as it is with Web AppBuilder or other ArcGIS configurable apps. When you create a specific story map from one of the app templates your story map is stored in My Content as a Web Mapping Application item just like those other apps. If you want to have a "default version" of your story map that starts with your logo, links, and other branding you need to download the source code of the app or apps you want to make a template for from GitHub, make the customizations you want (you'll need to understand HTML and CSS to do this), and then host it yourself on your own web server. After doing that you can follow the steps in the "part 2" blog post I shared above to add your customized story map template as an item that anyone in your organization can select when they create a web app from the web app template gallery. Esri is planning to add more features to ArcGIS Online and configurable apps to make it easier to brand your apps in the future, but we don't have any specifics or timeline for these features at this time.
