Hi Cara, I'm sorry you are having an issue with the orientation of your photos. The story maps apps should display the photo with the orientation as it is stored in the photo's EXIF data. Which story map app are you using, and what app are you using to view the photos on your desktop? It's possible the app you are using is storing orientation information on it's own and not in the EXIF. If you open the images in another image processing app do they display correctly? You could try changing the orientation to landscape and then back to portrait and then uploading them to your story to see if that forces the information to be stored in the images' EXIF. Owen

Hi Laura, I'm sorry you have been affected by this issue. We have identified the cause and plan to deploy a fix tonight. In the meantime, if you set your browser language to English you should be able to use Crowdsource stories and the builder. Owen

Hi Jessica, Sorry you are seeing this issue. I just tested in the latest version of Safari (10.0.2) on my Mac (10.12.2) and do not see the issue you are experiencing. Are you able to update your browser and/or OS to see if that resolves the issue? We also have a release coming out tonight and have fixed a few issues. If the browser/OS upgrade don't work or you're not able to do those, please try again tomorrow and let us know if you still see this. BTW, excellent work on the story so far -- it looks great! Owen

Hi Jessica, When you upload images to Cascade the builder will resize and compress them for you, so even if you start with a large image the app will help optimize it for web display. We're deploying some improvements to this feature tomorrow night, so if you have images to upload I'd recommend waiting until Thursday so you can take advantage of the improvements. If you want to host and link to images on your own web server, we recommend making your images 1920px wide and compressing them with 80% JPG quality. Owen

Hi Matt, Oh, sorry, I thought this issue was in the Cascade Builder, but now I realize you were seeing this issue when checking your story on the My Stories page of the Story Maps website. That sounds like a known beta issue that should be fixed in our next release, which will be available this Thursday morning. Great story, by the way!! As I was looking through it, I noticed a few of the images were loading a bit slowly. That is also a known beta issue which should be fixed Thursday; however, you'll have to upload your images again to take advantage of the fix. There's no need to re-add all the images, but you should see a big improvement by re-uploading any that are slow. Owen

Hi Matt, Sorry you are having an issue with your uploaded images. Could you provide a little more information to help us troubleshoot? How are you sharing the story map with the collaborators? (a group or by sharing with the organization) Are all the reviewers in the same organization? Do you notice the images disappearing after editing or saving any particular part of the story? Are multiple authors editing the story? Is it possible for you to share the story publicly so I can take a look? Owen

Hello, Thanks for your feedback! We are certainly considering many of the enhancements you've mentioned including more text formatting and theme options. Can you provide a little more information about what you'd like for video options? We are planning to add more video capabilities in a future release to give you more options in how your video is presented and also be able to upload videos right to your ArcGIS account (like you can already do with images). What would be your preferred way to host or add videos to a story map? Owen

Hi Shona, You can't delete the narrative panel itself from an immersive section, but if you remove all the content the empty panel won't display when your story is viewed. However, your readers will still need to scroll to get past the view that doesn't have a panel. This can be confusing since there isn't anything happening in the app, so please consider this before creating an immersive view without any narrative panel content. Owen

Hi Adrian, Even if your organization is set to allow HTTP, you may still be loading your story over HTTPS. Can you check in the address bar to see if that is the case? That box should be checked on but disabled (meaning you can't interact with it) if you are currently viewing the story over an HTTPS link. Since you are loading your story over HTTPS you can't attempt to load your embedded web content over HTTP. If your website doesn't work it's likely that it restricts embedding. As a side note, for the upcoming release (Dec 13, 2016) we've revised that note to simplify the help we provide and link out to this blog post for more info if you want the gory details about web security. Hi Jeffery, I'm not sure what specific areas of the world you are referring to, but new imagery and data are added periodically to all Esri basemaps. You can read about some of the specific additions in the blog posts below, and I believe we will have another deployment of new imagery within the next few weeks. DigitalGlobe Partners with Esri to update World Imagery | ArcGIS Blog What’s New in World Imagery Basemap (September 2016) | ArcGIS Blog You also might be interested in doing some research to see if any of the cities mentioned in your story map have published their own imagery that is more current. You can easily add their imagery services to your web maps and include them in your story map as long as that city's GIS department publishes the services in a standard format. Hi Erin, Since the story map itself is an interactive piece of content we don't recommend embedding it in the responsive view of your own website. For the responsive view of your site it's much better if you can have a screenshot link and/or a text link that opens the story up in another tab on the reader's mobile browser. This ensures your readers see the story's responsive view using their screen's full dimensions. Depending on the amount of space you have available for the story, having a screenshot and link to your story is often the best strategy for the deskop version of your website as well. You can see many examples of embedded and linked stories in our gallery to get ideas about how to do this. Gallery | Story Maps Scroll down and in the left sidebar you'll see filters for embedded and linked under Format. Hope this is helpful! Owen

Yes, you can advance the story automatically. Click the share icon at the top right of the app and check Autoplay mode, then copy the URL or open it in another tab. Owen
