Hi Bethany -- thanks for posting your question. Story Maps are responsively designed so that the on-screen elements, like the side panel, will resize based on different screen resolutions, browser window sizes, and aspect ratios. Also, below a certain size the layout will switch over to something that is more mobile friendly. Currently, however, the text doesn't resize (other than when the story switches over to the mobile view). Could you please share the resolutions of the two monitors you are working with and perhaps even screenshots of the text and content on each monitor? It'd be helpful to see the differences you are seeing so we can consider addressing this in a future release. You may be able to design around this by choosing an overall smaller text size that looks better at more resolutions. Also, developers can download the code for our Story Map apps here on Github and customize it with HTML, CSS, or JavaScript to add behaviors that aren't currently included. You can read more about how to do that here.

Hi Laura -- Unfortunately, we are not planning to have a direct replacement for the Story Map Crowdsource template at this time. While it's possible that future browser updates or changes to related technologies may cause issues with the Crowdsource template, it has been stable for several years with minimal updates. Even though the app will no longer appear in the default configurable app gallery after June 2018 and won't receive any new features or fixes, you will still be able to create new Crowdsource story maps and existing stories created with the template will continue to work for the foreseeable future. So for short-term, narrow-scope projects (such as using it to kick off a workshop) Story Map Crowdsource can still be a viable option; however, we cannot recommend it for high-profile and/or long-term projects.

Hi Andrew -- Adding a hyperlink to an image isn't supported in the Cascade Builder at this time, but there's a procedure you can use to do this outside of the builder. This article should help you accomplish what you are trying to do.

Hi Jamie -- Thanks for your question about Cascade. Can you be a little more specific, I'm not quite sure what you are after. Could you provide a sketch or a link to an existing story map as an example?

Hi Lisa -- I'm very sorry you had trouble with your story. I understand it is frustrating to lose work. We haven't had any reports of sections disappearing from a story map and have no known issues that fit this description. If you are able to reproduce the issue with a set of specific steps, please let us know.

Alison -- Unfortunately, due to browser autoplay policies, videos may not autoplay even if you add that URL parameter. For example, if the reader has not yet clicked anywhere in the story map, browsers will block videos with sound from autoplaying. See this article for more information.

Hello -- The interactive element in the Anacostia story is a custom web page that is embedded inside the story map. It's not currently possible to create something like that using just the Cascade Builder, but you can create your own web elements, host them on server or cloud infrastructure you manage, and embed them in your story by pasting in the URL to your custom page on the Link to Content tab when adding media.

Hi Kristen -- There's a blue note at the top of your screenshot that indicates that in that place in the story you can only add an image, so my guess is that you opened the media picker from a title section. If that's not the case please let me know. Title section backgrounds only support images, so that's why the ArcGIS options for browsing maps and scenes are disabled in this situation. If you've previously uploaded images to your story, you would see them there under the "This Story" and could chose one for the title section background.

Hi Lindsay -- You can't pick a web map from the media picker when adding media to a narrative panel, but narrative panels do allow web content media. So you can add a map, but it takes a few extra steps. Just paste in a link or iframe code for a simple map on the 'Link to Content' tab. You can use the code you get from sharing from the ArcGIS.com map viewer (see screenshots below) or a link to a simple app you've created using the Media or Minimalist configurable app templates. I'd recommend turning off all/most of the controls like scale bars and zoom in/out buttons. You don't have any control over the size of the map, but it might fit your needs. It'll look like the screenshot below... If you could share why you want to add a live map in the narrative panel, I'd appreciate it. We've discussed this a bit on our team and are interested to hear your reasons for this.

Hi Chris -- Story Maps don't/won't implement any specific certificate requirements beyond what browsers require, so it's really the browsers that determine this. I would consult with your IT department/policies to determine the appropriate type. For images, you can also consider upload images in the Story Map Builders to store them in ArcGIS to eliminate the need for a web server to store images for your stories. See this article for more info.

Hi Steve -- Unfortunately there are technical limitations with the Safari browser on iOS that prevent a live Cascade story from being embedded in an iframe on iOS devices. Starting with the June 2017 release, the behavior you described is expected when viewing a web page with an embedded Cascade story. This is not the case on Android devices. We will continue to follow this situation to see if we are able to support a live embed on iOS in the future.

Hi Alison -- Sorry it's still not working for you. As mentioned above, you may have an issue with autoplay because of browser policies, but the controls should hide and other URL params should work as expected. Can you provide the YouTube URL you are using and a link to your story so I can take a look? You'll need to share your story with Everyone so I can see it. Here's an example of a YouTube URL that will work if you add it as a "web page" as shown in the screenshot below. https://www.youtube.com/embed/jPEYpryMp2s?rel=0&showinfo=0&controls=0

davisholland -- I remembered something that will save you some time and effort -- in Journal and Series you don't need to edit the JSON to use this workaround like you do for Cascade. You can simply add the YouTube URL including the extra parameters as a "web page" rather than as a video in the Map Journal Builder.
