@SaraJL - The thumbnails in the bottom of the sidecar builder have never updated to show the configured map view, so that is expected. Those thumbnails only show the thumbnail from the map's item details. They are meant as an indicator of what type of content you have in that slide, but do not show you the exact map view if you have updated it by toggling layers or changing the zoom/extent.

@SaraJL - Thanks for the additional info. I just spent some time with your story and am still not able to reproduce the issues you describe. I'm not sure what to tell you at this point other than to try to continue to work with support to see if you can isolate the issue. It may be something specific to your machine or network environment. One thing I could recommend is if you feel that you are seeing this issue with longer stories, try breaking up your very long stories into smaller stories. You can group several related stories in a collection so they can still be shared together (like this multi-part story, for example: The Deep). Shorter stories are a good practice regardless of any technical issues you may encounter since they are more approachable for audiences.

@RegannFishell -- You can try unchecking Firefox's "recommended performance settings" option since that may be preventing the necessary resources from being utilized. If that doesn't work, please contact Esri Technical Support and they can help you troubleshoot this issue.

@qpoterek - I'm sorry you are having issue adding web scenes. We tested the scenes you provided and cannot reproduce the issue you described (the one with id e00803bbe5c444eeafc5e064c6c094d8 does not appear to be shared publicly, so we couldn't test that one). Below, are screenshots showing one of the scenes with an enabled Save button and the same scene placed successfully in a story. I also tested with about a dozen scenes from the Living Atlas and was unable to reproduce the issue. I would recommend that you please contact Esri Tech Support so they can better help troubleshoot since the issue appears to be something related to your computers, network environment, or account.

There are many ways to update the appearance of a map or scene, which includes the map extent and zoom level as well as layer visibility, in a StoryMap. Check out these articles about map choreography and map/media actions. Choreograph your maps with ArcGIS StoryMaps Supercharge your stories with media actions You can visit our gallery to see many examples of map choreography and map/media actions to get an idea of how these work and how they can be used to engage your audience and tell your story. When creating maps to use for storytelling, we recommend keeping a simple structure that minimizes the use of layer groups. This will enable you to control the visibility of individual layers when configuring the appearance of the map in the StoryMap builder.

@RobinRutten_ams - It is not recommended to manually edit or manage StoryMap files. You may not get the results you expect because there is a good amount of knowledge needed to ensure everything is being handled properly. If you'd like to automate or manipulate StoryMaps programmatically, we recommend using the StoryMaps module of the ArcGIS API for Python. This will ensure the StoryMap item is managed as expected. Here is an article with more info: Automate ArcGIS StoryMap Edits with ArcGIS API for Python If there is something you need that cannot be done with the Python API, please let us know so we can consider getting that added in a future update.

@MarioReyes3 - This capability is not currently available for data driven tours. It is something we have considered, but it is not on our roadmap. If you are interested in seeing this in a future update, I would recommend that you create a new idea for this so others can vote for it and add their support.

@ICONEngineering -- Thank you for looking to utilize the AI assistants in ArcGIS StoryMaps. The AI assistants are in beta, so your organization must also allow beta apps and capabilities. We will make Esri Support aware of the notes about this requirement in our what's new blog and documentation. > It is important to note that your organization administrator will need to enable AI assistants, and because these features are in beta, will also need to allow for beta apps and capabilities. > Note: Your ArcGIS Online administrator must configure assistants before you can access the ArcGIS StoryMaps assistant (beta), including turning off the Block Esri apps and capabilities while they are in beta setting.

Collections are an engaging way to share a set of related StoryMaps. There are several layouts and navigation styles you can choose from to customize the appearance and behavior of your collection. You can even include a map so readers can browse and open items using their location. To provide more flexibility in the way you and your audience use collections, two new collection modes are now available. Currently, these modes can be activated only by URL parameters (see last section, below). We'd love to hear your feedback about these modes as we evaluate where to take them in the future. If you aren't familiar with collections, be sure to check out our tutorial: Create your first collection with ArcGIS StoryMaps. For inspiration, you can explore several dozen example collections others have made in the StoryMaps Gallery. No-navigation mode If you’ve ever found yourself wanting to simplify the experience of using a collection, the new no-navigation mode may interest you. It transforms the collection into a straightforward launch page by eliminating its navigation controls and integrated “viewer” (the part of the page where the collection items are shown). No-nav mode has the following effects on a collection: All navigation controls in the header are removed (arrows, tab bar, back to overview button, etc.). The “Get started” button on the cover is removed Clicking an item opens it in the same browser tab, so you can use the browser “back” button to return to the collection. Essentially, no-nav mode turns the collection's item cards into standard links. That means you have control over whether the items open in the same tab (the standard behavior) or a new tab. You can right-click an item link and choose Open in a new tab or use browser shortcuts to manage how the links open. For example, here are some of the link-related shortcuts available in Chrome. No-cover mode No-cover mode may interest fans of the classic Story Map Series template. When this mode is enabled, the cover is hidden. When you visit a collection with no cover, you’ll immediately see the first item in the collection. The collection's navigation controls are still available in no-cover mode. This mode can be useful when you have an introductory item you always want to show, such as a briefing or video that explains the purpose of the collection, a story that serves as part 1 of a longer narrative, or a simple cover image. Enable a collection mode These modes can be triggered by adding a URL parameter to a collection, either navigation=false OR cover=false. Here are example links for each mode: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/collections/d34681ac0d1a417894a3a3d955c6913f?navigation=false https://storymaps.arcgis.com/collections/d34681ac0d1a417894a3a3d955c6913f?cover=false Since collection modes are currently triggered by URL parameters, they are most effectively used with your own collections. This is because sharing the URL of a collection with others doesn’t guarantee that the URL parameters will be preserved, so someone you share the link with may access the collection in its normal mode depending on how they open or interact with the collection. As noted above, we are gathering feedback on whether these modes are useful and how you might use them so we can consider if or how to add them as options in the collection builder. Please add a comment below with your questions or feedback.

@HollyBParker I'm so sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, other than the current published version and any unpublished changes that have been made, there is no way to access other previous versions of a StoryMap. We would like to provide this feature in the future.
