Insights ties to release inline with online and Enterprise updates, since we are a part of the platform. We can't match them perfectly since they each have different release schedules. We are currently aiming to release with the next upcoming ArcGIS Enterprise release which should be in the next month. This next Insights release has a number of great improvements that we are excited to get out to everyone.

I realise this post is a little old now but this question is just as relevant. Insights is about analysis first and we started with adding enough functionality (we hope) to make it useful. Sharing your results are integral and we allowed some features but as you say, not too many and really not enough. This is an area we are working on now. In current versions you can change a number of features you mention using the card setting such as: the axis labels, card border, typeface, size and font, and background and foreground color. For the features you can change the symbol style (line width, color, border color etc), classification (where appropriate). A legend can be popped out. In our next update in July 2020, you will see a number of improvements in this area. You can hide headers, new legends, page control over: typeface, size and font and the same for axis labels. We will keep making improvements in the future.

Hi Michael, Sorry you didn't think we were listening - we are! Unfortunately you already have your answer - Insights only supports one selection (across many cards). It is just a temporary view of your data. AS Chaim says, teh way to achieve more is to add filters either on the data pane, the card or through a filter widget.

The enrich functionality in Insights is the same as that used in many places in the ArcGIS platform. This is a Data Browser link you can use to see what is available.

The visuals you can create will be driven by the type and number of variables that you select. Insights allows you to plot many different variables in many different ways and interactivity is there by default. If you try to visualize different pieces of information on different cards, rather than all in one, and them explore how they interact together you should be able to pull out the patterns. Looking at changes over time, you can use timelines, heat charts and data clocks and again, other cards will update as you click through them.

Hi Michelle, There is some good news on that, although you don't have that ability right now, in our next release (in July 2020) will have it.

Hi, The proportions shown in the chart are controlled by the data itself so can't be changed. Labels are, again pulled directly from the data but there are two ways you can make changes. Firstly, you can open the data table and do a field calculation to reformat strings to be as you wish or, secondly, you can use a look up table. To do this, create a new table e.g. in excel and in one field add any strings used your data that you need for the chart e.g. OTHER and create a second field containing the label you want e.g "Other/unknown". Use create relationships to join on the field in common and use you new field as the display field in the chart.

Yes, Insights works with vector data - so that;s point, lines or polygons.

You can add as many cross-filters as you like. Remember they must be added to each card that you wish to be cross-filtered. Additionally, remember to see interactivity data must come from the same data set (or join them) otherwise they do not know what is in common. Joins can be done using the create relationships or even by enabling location if that is the data you have in common.

Insights calls the same functions that are used in ArcGIS Online, that is the Esri Service Areas, to calculate the area that can be reached within a specified travel time or travel distance along a street network based on travel mode. Some restrictions are placed by that service and those details can be found here: Create Drive-Time Areas—ArcGIS Online Help | Documentation

It is now possible to hide the row that shows which statistic is being used. You can use the caret on the header of summary table. It is not yet possible to change the number of decimal places in the summary table but we are starting to address this type of feature in upcoming releases. The first place you will see it, is on labels on charts.

All of the visuals are reflecting the data. That means they labels will be pulling directly from the data table and there is no way to change them directly. You can however, do calculations in Insights so you could do a simple string calculation to reformat the labels so they make more sense. Another effective approach I use a lot is using a look up table (LUT). So I create a new table e.g. in excel with the one field with original field name, e.g. (OLD NAME) "population_2500" and a second field (POPULATION) with my new name "pop < 2500" and do a join (with create relationships) on the original data to the new table on OLD NAME. In the chart, I use the POPULATION field to create the chart.

Hi Jeffrey, Unfortunately you are not missing anything, except the functionality! That feature has not yet made it into Insights but rest assured we are well aware of the need for it and I am hopeful it will make it into a release soon.

There are a number of different ways you can connect to data and use it in Insights. If you already have the data as point features, you can bring that feature class directly into Insights. Insights is a part of the ArcGIS platform so data that you have in enterprise or Online can be consumed directly, in the connection tab in Add Data. Possible data connection types are: Feature layers, Excel, GeoDatabases, CSV, Shapefiles, SharePoint Lists, GeoJson, OneDrive access plus Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, SAPHana

Spatially, Insights only works with vector data but it also allows you to work with non-spatial data, although not OLAP cubes directly. As of the version of Insights to be released in July 2020, possible data connections are: Feature layers, Excel, GeoDatabases, CSV, Shapefiles, SharePoint Lists, GeoJson, OneDrive access Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, SAPHana
