Turns out it wasn't an ArcGIS Server issue, but a setting that needed to be changed in our VM software after increasing the amount of RAM.

You can put your cache on a separate drive. Just got to the Site tab, the Directories, and you can edit the cache directory or add another cache directory. The only slow experience I have had with 10.1 is with what I described below, setting the config-store to a network share.

I just got off the phone with tech support and they did not know what is causing the issue. I am thinking it could be something with the network.

Same thing was happening for me, I had switched it from local to a network share in order to add additional servers to the site. I experienced the same issues in Catalog and manager. Switching it back to local sped everything back up like you had said.

Kevin, I have the log level set at warning and just switched it to severe, but the javaw is still using over 1,000,000 KB. The other issue is the amount of memory ArcGIS Server is using at 10.1, almost twice was much as 10. Is that to be expected at 10.1? I also notice that when I stop the ArcGIS Server service, the memory usage does not drop at all.

I have installed 10.1 onto a new server and have been experiencing issues with memory usage. Our current 10 installation of ArcGIS Server utilizes about 12 MB of memory, while 10.1 is utilizing about twice the amount of memory with less services running than on our 10 server. Also the javaw.exe process grows to over 2,000,000 K. Has anyone else had issues like this with 10.1? Tech support did not seem aware of this issue.

The workaround was to create a Python script and add a string parameter for the text for the custom text element. Then in JS I passed the text to the extraParameters property of the PrintParameters class. Interesting that customTextElements is a property in the Flex and Silverlight APIs, but not JavaScript.

Are custom text elements not supported in the JavaScript API yet when using the 10.1 print service? I do not see it as a property for layoutOptions for the PrintTemplate class.

Thanks for the response. I had the code correct, but the issue was with how I had the security set up in ArcGIS Server. I got that resolved and the feature layer is drawing.

I am developing an app that uses a secured map service. I have read about using the UserCredentials class to specify a user name and password. However, when I try to add the secure service, the service is failing to initialize. I have read that the ArcGIS for Android app does not support secure services yet, does the SDK not either?

I can use ORDER BY in my where clause to sort the results if I do not have a definition expression set. However, if my layer does have a definition express set, the query fails. Anyone have any suggestions or workarounds? I'm hoping this gets fixed in 10.1 since there is going to be an order fields parameter.

I would like to get three additional links in my search results, one to download a layer package, another to download a zipped shapefile, and another for DXF files. I would like to have 3 different networkr tags in my metadata for each of those file types. I have gone through the directions in the link below, but have not gotten the link to appear. Once I do get this to work, how would I get it to read each networkr tag? http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/geoportal/index.php?title=Add_Custom_Link_to_a_Search_Result UPDATE: Resolved...Needed to re-approve my metadata

I have tried it out on my Droid Incredible (Android 2.2). The map loads fine for me. The only issue I have seen is with the pinch zoom, it will only zoom in on the page, not the map.

I tried it on my Android, but the sample doesn't even work on it. But if you look at the code for that sample, it is not doing anything in the orientationChanged function: function orientationChanged() { } In the other samples, they have this: function orientationChanged() { if(map){ map.reposition(); map.resize(); } }

I just started taking a look at the FindNearby mobile Javascript sample. I am having issues with the mouse wheel zoom and pinch zoom in the sample. If I remove this the zooming works fine, but the layout is not maintained: <script type="text/javascript"> var djConfig = { parseOnLoad: true } </script> Any ideas on what could be causing this? This does not occur in any of the other samples.
