I often compress a file geodatabase Feature Class to save space, especially if the dataset is very large and supplied by third party as I'm very unlikely to edit it. Sometimes I need to copy these compressed datasets into new file geodatabase. Typically I would right click on the geodatabase and choose Import > Feature Class. This runs the Feature Class to Geodatabase tool. This tool fails to honour the compression, if the Feature Class is indeed compressed. It copies it into the new geodatabase in an uncompressed format. My idea is to ensure that the Feature Class to Geodatabase tool imports Feature Classes in their compressed state, if they are indeed compressed.

Just want to say I too hit this issue with a survey 123 table, it displays the alias in an attribute table when I need to see the field name. I would like an option in the attribute table menu to flip between alias/name.

When presenting a series of questions I would like the capability of turning on banding (alternate row colouring, the sort of thing you can do in Excel) as it enhances the readability of the form. So currently I have this: and what I would like is this:

If you have access to ArcPro then have a look at RivEX, it has many tools for processing sites along rivers. You can very easily create 3km u/s and d/s reach polylines by using one of the reach generation tools. The RivEX manual has a section of worked examples to inspire users with the wide range of river related processing that can be done.

@JMutunga I had searched high and low the help file for any advice on the merge policy. I have to say 1 line tucked away on the tool is a bit obscure! And its not even emphasised by say the grey box that the documentation uses. I had crashed around the help file on the pages that document domains and these polices. That's where I had been searching for any advice. I would recommend you get your help documentation team to replicate that 1 line (I'm sure they can find the time to do that) and state within the domains policy section here that it does not actually apply to the Merge edit tool. With that said it has been good to get some clarification and I had not been doing something wrong with setting up a merge policy on a domain. This useful discussion leads me to one final question, when does the merge policy get execute, does it only run when using the merge or dissolve geoprocessing tools for example?

The tool RivEX can help with this problem as long as your river network is vector and not a raster network. If you define the main river as starting at the mouth of the network then RivEX has the Add Main Channel. If you are starting at some random point within a catchment is the main channel the route to source? If so you could use the Find source of site tool. If your definition of main river from some random starting point is the route to source and route to network mouth then you could use the Create site centred reach and set the distances to a very large value to ensure searching reaches the source and mouth, an example is shown below.

I believe the issue is that having selected the watershed and used that selection to select the points within it you do your first attribute selection, that immediate "destroys" the selection based upon the watershed polygon. You have two options, start using an iterator and get your head around embedded sub-models, or the more clunky but easier to understand is for each attribute selection have a separate select by location before it. At the moment you have three select by attributes feeding from one select by location, you want to duplicate the location tool each with the select HUC tool feeding to them. With that logic after a select by attribute has run the selection on the wells is reset by the location tool.

I think this functionality is broken in ArcPro, I made the same question in September last year here and no one from ESRI has stepped up to say why. May be I have done something stupid, but your workflow is identical so makes me think it's broken? Would be good to get some clarification from ESRI!

Sorry are you saying you are trying to insert a vertex into a polygon that is composed of 8 million vertices? I would imagine any sort of spatial processing would be quite slow and you would need to dice up your data?

You state that you are aware that ArcMap is being retired but you don't actually say if you want to make the jump to ArcPro? If you do then I would say many of your steps could be automated in arcpy, driving ArcPro projects for map production. You don't need the heavy investment of using VB/C# in visual studio. You can run python in an IDE, don't even need ArcPro open if that's what you want. What might be highly problematic for you is that ArcPro does not support MS Access in the way ArcMap use to. A failing of ArcPro in my opinion as MS Access is a very useful and powerful database software used by many. You could use the interoperability extension to export from an accdb as an intermediate step.
