First off; what version of ArcGIS are you using? Without seeing the addresses you are trying to geocode, it's hard to say what the problem is; could be your addresses aren't formatted for the data you are matching to. Even if they are formatted correctly, could it be that only 1/3 of them are actually valid and the other 2/3 are not?

I'm afraid your attached graphic is confusing to me; I see a network dataset. If you want to create an address locator, start here: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/#/What_is_geocoding/002500000001000000/

But can i ask, how can a computer network issue affects the results of ArcGIS? Anytime I see a read/write error I think permissions and that is often times associated with network/shared drives where the user does not have the correct permissions....

Hi all, In ArcCatalog 10.2.2, I have created a File Geodatabase (sc.gdb) that has a "Point" feature class (biraja) with the Spatial data (X,Y-coordinates and Z-elevation) and non-Spatial data (chemical results/data, etc.) - see the attached file for details. How can I send the feature class (biraja) of File Geodatabase in ArcCatalog to ArcMap 10.2.2 for getting the mxd drawing? Please kindly help, advise and respond. Thanks in advance, Scott Chang Open arcmap and drag and drop the feature class from arccatalog.

I think it's possible, but the limiting factor is you'd need to quickly rebuild that portion of the network so it would be realized. The flip side to this is of course, somehow you would need to lift the restriction as roads are repaired and available for traffic. Implementing the changes to your network is probably much easier than getting accurate and timely data...

I see this is your first post so please allow me to give a little guidance; many times more details are helpful and this is one of those times. If you can provide what version ArcGIS you are using along with the service packs applied that would help out. Just a guess but it sounds like you have a computer network issue. Is the geodatabase you are trying to create the network dataset within on a shared drive? Can you create feature classes okay within this geodatabase?

I have a table that was created in Excel and saved as a csv. Add the table to my project, open the table and everything looks fine. When I try to join the table to a shape file table, I select the field to join in the shape. But when I go to select the field in the csv table, the drop down of field choices is blank. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Hard saying, but you use to of my least liked words: Excel and Shapefile. The problem might be the type of field your spreadsheet/csv file is. Are you really using a Shapefile, or are you using a geodatabase feature class? My suggestion(s): Import your Excel worksheet to a geodatabase table. When you do, you can change the field type of any field by using the properties function. If you are really using a shapefile, import it into the same geodatabase.

I don't use 10.2.1, but I thought privileges were a little different than earlier releases. You might check there. Give his user login full privileges through ArcCataog.

Using ArcGIS version 10.0; fully service packed; file geodatabase, 64 bit winodws 7: I'm having a problem with polygons of city boundaries. I've run the Check Geometry tool and I get a list of polygons that have self-intersecting polygons, which is cool, but I can't seem to find them visually. Other threads on this subject ask what I'm thinking: how does one identify a self intersecting polygon? And the biggest complaint is the fact the there is no topology tool for self intersecting polygons. Has anyone cracked this nut? These polygons are giving me fits with overlaps and gaps. I can't tell you how many times I've created a topology, corrected the issues, only to find them again at a later date. Sometimes it looks like a city or two are shifted; like the sticky tolerance is too low. Other times I will find multiple vertices where I know there were just one. I'm the only guy that edits these features, so I can't blame anyone else: is this problem that others have experienced, or is just me?

Why would this change in connectivity matter? Sounds like your 'network' isn't connected at the ends. Use the network inspector tool and start touching segments and see if they are connected or not.

Hello all, I have a dual-range street data. I want to build an address locator with ArcGIS 10.2.1 that will be able to match the closest house number. Take, for example, a case in which the left part of the street has the following segments: 2-12, 20-40, 50-80. The locator will match the house number 6 without a problem but I want to match also house number 16 that does not exists in the data. In this case the match will be to either house number 12 or 20 that are the closest house numbers in the data. I can partially do it by lowering the spelling sensitivity but than I will have a problem with the street name. Is there something that I can change in the locator style in order to accomplish what I need? Also, I would like to maintain parity (matching odd numbers to odd-numbers street side) it that's possible. Thanks, Shahar. I guess you can do one of two things: 1. Improve your street data to better match the addresses that are along the segments 2. Try turning down your candidate scores. That might get you a partial hit on house 16...

Relationships are typically viewed as 1 record to 1 record, or Many records to 1 record, or 1 record to Many records or Many records to Many records. Examples: 1 to 1: 1 address point, 1 water bill Many to 1: many owners, 1 parcel 1 to Many: 1 parcel, many owners Many to Many: many owners, many parcels While it may appear that 1 to Many and Many to 1 are the same, they are not. It is the order in which the relationship is constructed. In my parcel example, 1 to many might be a polygon feature class using the parcelID as the common attribute between it and a table of owners. If you are trying a 1 to many join, you will only join to the first of the many records: Probably not what you want. Getting null values from an excel table is a common complaint (do a search and you'll see what I mean). The standard response is that ArcGIS does not like attribute (column) names with spaces or special characters. By real-live database table I mean a table in some sort of database: be it a File Geodatabase, an Access Table, SQl table, etc. Anything but an excel work sheet. First thing is to check your column names in the excel table. You can also use the IMPORT utility to convert the excel works sheet into a database table in any flavor of geodatabase. You need to watch that process as the types of fields in excel can play games with you; like a number may be converted to a text or vice-versa. This is bread and butter data management; you might want to search the help files for relationships and how to use them. <edited moments later> Here are a couple of links to forum postings on this subject: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/69527-Table-Join-Resulting-in-Null-values-%28Picture-Included%29?highlight=join+excel+null+values http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/101332-Table-Join-Resulted-in-NULL-values?highlight=join+excel+null+values http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/51663-Help!-Trouble-Joining-Tables?highlight=join+excel+null+values http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/39200-Weird-problem-with-joining-tables?highlight=join+excel+null+values http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/36228-Convert-Field-from-Double-to-String?highlight=join+excel+null+values Seeing a pattern here?

What is the best format for an excel spreadsheet to join the data to a GIS layer? I have the home use license for desktops. I put data into an excel spreadsheet, imported that spreadsheet into my GIS on ArcMap, and joined the data into a layer that I had created. However, it did not seem to join properly judging by what I saw on the layer's table. Any suggestions? What's the best.... Always a tough question to answer. What type of attribute are you joining on (text, numeric, etc?) What is the join functionality: 1 to 1 or Many to 1? Personally if it's anything but 1:1, I use a relate instead. What is giving you the impression that the join isn't working properly? Finally, and again just personally, I prefer to use excel for my invoicing and other book keeping procedures, but I use real-live database tables for my GIS work. YMMV....

You may want to include a little more descriptive information: for example are you dissolving on an attribute that is common between all the streets, like "NAME" or something obvious like that?
