Hi, I am looking for a Buffer Widget like the one you have mentioned here. Have you published it anywhere?

Thanks mvolz47. I haven't solved this problems (as you said, I don't think this is possible) however it has enabled me to add some extra logging of the MXD names right at the beginning of the loop. If the code fails, I now know which document is causing the problem and can eliminate it from the folder. Janet

I apologise for taking so long to reply. Been so busy I haven't been able to get back to this script. I deleted the MXD that caused the problem, as it couldn't be opened either so I can't get post it here. When I get a moment free I will see if I can replicate the problem somewhere else. I'll attach the code so far. (Realised I need to check for broken data sources before I write out the layer details, so coding is still not complete).

Thanks for your suggestion. I am already using Try... Except, however the whole thing crashes before it gets to the exception handler. I don't think it is possible to get around this - just wondered if there was some way of looking at a whole MXD to see if it is corrupt without actually going into it. Sort of like some Excel functions such as ISNA.

I have a python script that loops through all the MXDs in folder and subfolders and writes details of the layers to a text file. The script works quite well, unless an MXD is corrupt at which point it fails (which I can completely understand!). The corrupt MXD caused ArcGIS to crash when I tried to open the document in ArcMap and also when I attempted to preview it in ArcCatalog. I am not sure if it can be done, however can anyone suggest a way to check the MXD before making an attempt to process it by the script.

Thanks for your answer Robert, I won't try any further... And thank you so much for your Flex Widgets - I have been busy putting them into my web map and they are fantastic. You name comes up every time I find something useful!

If I am using ArcGIS Online basemaps in my Flex Viewer, is there any way I can avoid the co-ordinate system being in Web Mercator? I have tried adding a WKID to the map configuration file and added another basemap in the correct co-ordinate system as the first basemap, but nothing seems to change the display of Web Mercator in the scale bar or in the Co-ordinate Menu.

OK, I have the same problem occuring again. My network has 12 bulk water facilities which I am using as Sources (no Sinks). It is a fairly complicated non-directional network. The Isolation Trace had been working well. For various reasons, I had to remake the network with slightly different pipelines. The same error is occuring everwhere I click on the network for a Valve Isolation:
No Bulk_Water_Supply feature can be reached from this location other than those that would be isolated by a shutdown. Add a Bulk_Water_Supply Feature at an appropriate location on the network or change your configureation file to specify a different feature class as a possible water source.
I added open Isolation Valves at each Bulk Water Facility, but this has made absolutely no difference. Any more suggestions?

I haven't a clue what the underlying issue is. Since you stated that your need was "urgent" then a possible workaround might be for you to develop a non-VBA component to add to the toolbar which calls your VBA logic within it. Perhaps that will resolve the "urgent" problem until you can get an answer from ESRI support or another user. I was really just interested in finding out whether anyone else had had the same problem. The urgency is that the client is impatient to get all his computers running 10; the one with the toolbar has been set back to 9.3.1 to enable it to keep working. It was my understanding that VBA should still work with 10 - is this correct?

Thank you - I know that eventually I will need to convert everything across, but for the moment I need an answer to my question about 10 not supporting existing VBA, as I don't have time to convert all the macros at once and my client needs this to work urgently.

I have manually added a toolbar to a document and created a number of macros in VBA which are run from the toolbar. These work perfectly in 9.3.1 however in 10, the buttons show [Missing ...] and of course no longer work. We have been told that the only solution is to re-write the Macros in VB.NET - which is in the plans - however my understanding was that 10 should run VBA, even if it no longer supported. I would appreciate it if someone could suggest what is the problem here. The extra VBA module has been installed with ArcMap 10 and a licence provided by ESRI is being used.

Could someone please inform me. When we talk about VBA not being supported in the next release, does this mean that in 10.1 no vba code will work?
