I don't know Jamal but you might be able to figure this out by using a tool such as SysInternals Process Monitor: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb795533.aspx The key to using this tool is setting up good filters otherwise the volume of information is overwhelming. ERROR: �??Base definition table string �??boundary�?� is invalid�?� + �??packaging failed�?� + �??the data item is inaccessible�?� + �?�., This is one of the most complicated error that I couldn�??t figure out how it might be solved. This error is generated when trying to publish a particular mxd file from the CLIENT MACHINE (in which the ArcGIS server is NOT installed)! I copied the folder containing my data and mxd to the D:\ partition of the SERVER MACHINE and tried to publish it (from the SERVER MACHINE) and found out that it is published without any problem. Then the issue is not related to the feature class itself but to the publishing from the CLIENT MACHINE. Are we supposed then to publish from the server machine itself?! I did all the valuable suggestions I received from the professional guys on the forum but sounds not to work. Amongst: 1. The folder containing the data is SHARED with everyone 2. Everyone has granted a FULL SECURITY CONTROL on the folder containing the data 3. The folder containing the data is REGISTERED in the �??DATA STORE�?� 4. A user called �??ArcGIS Server Account�?� user is created on the CLIENT MACHINE and is shared and granted full security control on the folder containing the data Facts: �?� The network map of my machines is as shown in the screenshot below (where p1 is the client machine and p2 is the server machine) [ATTACH=CONFIG]21870[/ATTACH] �?� The users of the client machine are shown in the screenshot below [ATTACH=CONFIG]21871[/ATTACH] �?� �??Everyone�?� and �??ArcGIS Server Account�?� users are shared to the folder containing the data, are granted full security control and registered in the �??data store�?�. NEVERTHELESS, I�??m still getting the errors below! [ATTACH=CONFIG]21872[/ATTACH], [ATTACH=CONFIG]21873[/ATTACH], [ATTACH=CONFIG]21874[/ATTACH] What might be the issue then? Map cashing: selecting tilling schema file, I???m wondering how the tilling schema file can be changed (another schema file is required to be used as tilling schema file). Error: �??Packaging failed�?� + �??the data item is inaccessible�?�, While trying to publish an mxd file, I got the message below knowing that 1. The �??ArcGIS Server Account�?� is shared to the folder containing the data (*.mdf) 2. �??ArcGIS Server Account�?� has full control on the folder containing the data (*.mdf) 3. Hi Jamal, That error can mean a few things including that you don't have write permissions to the the Apps folder (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Apps) or that the name of the App already exists. If you want to share file based data then I think that the way to do it is to use UNC, e.g. \\machinename\Share, paths. Everyone has to use the same UNC path and it is this path that must be registered with the server. If that doesn't work then I'm out of suggestions:( Thank you Richard. I see if I can sort it out. Creating and publishing a model to select parcels, I wanted to create and publish a model that selects parcels based on the ID of the parcel, the ID of their block and the name of their community (attached). The model is supposed then to zoom to the selected parcels 1. How the model can be developed so that the end user can enjoy [ATTACH=CONFIG]21636[/ATTACH], [ATTACH=CONFIG]21637[/ATTACH] a. Having a drop-down list for the values b. Auto complete search c. The model is able to zoom to the selected feature The more generic model is better! To give the user the chance to choose the feature class and then to choose fields required to be search along with their values. Is that possible? 2. I published the model but sounds that the target feature is not selected [ATTACH=CONFIG]21638[/ATTACH] What might be the issue? Thank you Best Jamal

That's the understatement of the year. I don't know how many times I've been given a generic error and had no idea how to fix it because I didn't know what the problem was. Many of the errors I've had require the use of MXD Doctor or checking each individual layer for problems. Of course, a generic error is better than no error at all which I've had a lot when I go to print and ArcMap locks up. Try creating "ArcGIS Server Account" on the client with the same password that you used on the server. Many thanks Richard for the help, �?� The �??ArcGIS Server Account�?� user is added to the client machine (p1) with the same password as the one on the server machine (p2) [ATTACH=CONFIG]21625[/ATTACH] �?� But the problem is still there [ATTACH=CONFIG]21628[/ATTACH] �?� Another folder which include other data is shared and permissions were given to the �??ArcGIS Server Account�?� [ATTACH=CONFIG]21626[/ATTACH], [ATTACH=CONFIG]21627[/ATTACH] �?� I tried to register this folder but I got the message �??the arcgis is not able to connect to the specified folder. Please, ensure the folder exists and has the appropriate permissions for the arcgis server to access it�?� [ATTACH=CONFIG]21629[/ATTACH] �?� I tried to register the same folder (after being copied and pasted to the D:\ partition of the server machine) and it has been SUCCESSFULLY registered This emphasize that this issue is related to the relationship between the client machine (in which the arcgis sever is NOT installed) and the server machine (in which the arcgis sever is installed).
