FAQ: Can a multiversioned view be deleted without leaving an entry in the table registry? https://community.esri.com/thread/115079 Not aware of a way to delete a versioned view without the SDE command line tools. You probably have the option of: Un-registering all data as Versioned and Re-register them as Versioned, or Delete all versioned views at the 10.1 level using the SDE Command line tools --> Migrate to 10.6.1 --> re-create all the Versioned views

So, I tested on my end and I could reproduce the behavior. The behavior is only observed for Feature Classes which are already added to Map, not otherwise. I am not sure if these will cause any issues, however it may cause confusion for sure, so its surely better to fix them if possible. only solution I found: Remove the affected FC from the Map Contents, refresh the connection and re-add the FC to the map. Now check the source, it doesn't refer to the Feature Dataset anymore. Note: Always try on a backup first and not directly on Production.

I would expect the tool to do that. I wouldn't want the data owned by my user to be registered in different System Tables, under different users. That will be difficult to maintain and also troubleshoot issues later on. Also, its not just 1 System table, the data is registered in multiple system tables.

For executing both the tools, you need an Oracle database to be created beforehand. "Create Enterprise Geodatabase" tool allows you to create the user, grant required permissions, create tablespace, etc using the tool. Whereas, the 'Enable Enterprise Geodatabase" tool expects the user(SDE Schema), required permissions, tablespace, etc to already be present as needed before executing the tool. Also, you cannot create user-schema geodatabases using the 'Enable Enterprise Geodatabase' tool. So, the end result may be similar, but the tools have different features and functionalities.

In an enterprise geodatabase, when you create data using any user, the data is registered in the system tables of the geodatabase. In your case, when you "added some tables" with the user, before creating the User-Schema geodatabase, the tables were registered in the System tables of the Master-Instance (SDE). So, to create the User-Schema geodatabase for this user, you need to delete the Tables you created previously with this user and then execute the "Create Enterprise Geodatabase" tool.

No, you can't do that. You will have to drop the schema and all its data. Re-create the schema, create the User-Schema gdb(using the tool) for that schema and then load data into that schema. However, do think about the way ahead for future. Now that creation of User-Schema geodatabase is not possible in the new versions of ArcGIS, do you still want to continue the same way like before or think of a different approach ahead. At some point, you may have to give this a thought.

Yes, we are talking about the same thing. The "Create Enterprise Geodatabase" tool is used to created the master SDE geodatabases and the User-Schema gdb (till 10.6.x). You can see the tool details here: If you are using Oracle, the default value is sde. If you want to create a user-schema geodatabase inside an existing master sde geodatabase, specify the name of the user who will own the new geodatabase. Create Enterprise Geodatabase—Help | ArcGIS Desktop When I open open the documentation for the tool it does not mention anything about not being supported anymore. It does mention in the below link: Create Enterprise Geodatabase—Help | Documentation Note: Beginning with ArcGIS 10.7 and ArcGIS Pro 2.3, you cannot create user-schema geodatabases in Oracle.

Creation of User-Schema geodatabase is no longer supported. The last version to allow creation of a User-Schema geodatabase was ArcGIS 10.6.x. Beginning with ArcGIS 10.7 and ArcGIS Pro 2.3, you cannot create user-schema geodatabases in Oracle. Multiple geodatabases in Oracle—Geodatabases in Oracle | Documentation Create a geodatabase in Oracle—Geodatabases in Oracle | Documentation and the data schema is not available in the drop down list. My understanding is that the drop down list shows only schemas registered in SDE It is available when User Schema geodatabases are created, which you can't anymore at 10.7.1. There is an error message that I dont have the adminitrative priviliges to do so (error 9999999 - "user doesnt have permission to perform operation [SDE.DEFAULT]") - although I connect as the owner. Try performing the Reconcile\Post and Compress operations, connected as the SDE user. The geodatabase administrator in Oracle—Geodatabases in Oracle | Documentation

I am assuming that your geodatabase is upgraded to 10.6.1. Also you should have this patch installed: ArcGIS (Desktop, Engine, Server) Support for Oracle 19c Patch Is the issue with only 1 geodatabase? Have you tried on a different geodatabase? Also maybe try with ArcGIS Desktop on a different server.

I am confused. Are you asking why CAN ArcGIS connect or why it CAN'T? FAQ: Can I restore an ArcSDE geodatabase with a different database name in SQL Server? Error: An error is received when trying to access a SQL Server ArcSDE geodatabase that has been restored with a new name Cause The cause of such an error may be linked to restoring a database in SQL Server Enterprise Manager/Management Studio under a different name than the original backup or datafile. Unfortunately, it is not possible to rename an ArcSDE geodatabase once it has been created. The name of the original database is hard-coded in database objects. When the name of a database has been changed using a stored procedure or a database is restored to a name different from the original, the database cannot be be accessed via ArcSDE or ArcGIS clients.

I checked again and found this Bug: BUG-000115693: Unable to manage user privileges on database view in.. Tried the "Change Privileges" tool and it worked as suggested in the link. So try that for now, till ArcGIS Pro 2.6 is out.
