It is always helpful if you provide your configuration details: 1. Version of SDE geodatabase 2. Database version (example: SQL Server 2012) Most of your questions are answered on the Web Help links: SQL Server data types supported in ArcGIS—Help | ArcGIS Desktop SQL Server spatial types and ArcGIS—Help | ArcGIS Desktop 1. Both Geometry and Geography are pre-configured using Default settings, when an Enterprise geodatabase is created 2. Check the Feature Class properties. (R-click on a fc > Properties > 'General' tab) 3. The below is by default. So unless you specify otherwise while creating\loading data, the data should be in Geometry. By default, geodatabases in SQL Server use the geometry type.

I am not sure about any official document explaining this in detail. These questions should be directed to Customer Service or your local marketing rep, as they are the best people to guide you on this. They can be on separate machines. It is not necessary to have the same server\machine for ArcGIS Server and Databases.

Yes, I believe so. However I'll let one of the Server Experts on the forum to confirm that and suggest any other solution if possible.

No, the scenario you mention is not possible. To create a replica, the Parent gdb has to be SDE. In 1-way Parent to Child: Parent is ArcSDE and Child can be File\sde gdb. But the editing will be in the Parent sde gdb. In 1-way Child to Parent: Both the Parent and Child have to be an sde gdb. In 2-way replica: Both have to be an sde gdb. So your only option remains, creating a Checkout Replica....but in this scenario, you will have to recreate replica after every synchronization process.

I didn't find any restriction as such in case of Address Locators. I have the same type of question about address locators created in file gdbs. In some limited testing I have found that I can use an address locator built in 10.5.1 in 10.3.1 so address locators do appear to be backward compatible. You mentioned that you created Address Locators in File gdbs at 10.5.x. That is something which is not supported after 10.4. Geocoding Improvements and Deprecations in ArcMap 10.5 and ArcGIS Pro 1.4 | Support Services Blog Creating an address locator—Help | ArcGIS Desktop Locators should be stored in a file folder so you take advantage of new features that are not supported for locators stored in geodatabases, such as performance improvements, multithreading capabilities, and suggestions support. ArcGIS 10.4 is the last release to support storing locators in geodatabases.

No, as the Supported databases—Insights web help Use tab | ArcGIS Enterprise link clearly states: Currently, Insights for ArcGIS does not allow you to create a connection to a relational database that has an enterprise geodatabase defined.

Considering the above, I feel its not do-able then. Registering a table with the geodatabase allows the table to participate in geodatabase functionality, such as adding subtypes to it, defining domains for fields in the table, and placing the table in a relationship class. If it is a spatial table (a feature class), you can also move it into a feature dataset so it can be used in topologies, networks, terrains, and other feature dataset constructs. Registering a view with the geodatabase allows the view to be included in read-only feature services. Also the link that I provided, mentions the above. So it seems that Views cannot participate in a Relationship Class in any scenario.

Duplicate post of https://community.esri.com/thread/199003-cant-find-scratchgdb jayanta.poddar has provided answer to your questions in the other post, so please revert back there letting everyone know if that helped or not. Refrain from asking the same question again in a separate post. That does not help.

Check if the below info helps: ST_IsValid A geometry inserted into an Oracle database using the spatial type (an ST_Geometry column) will always be valid because ArcSDE always validates this type of spatial data before accepting it.
