you can create a class extension in 10 (10.1 has included this functionality) . Here you can see Timestamper class extension http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/arcobjects-net/conceptualhelp/index.html#//0001000003ps000000 1) compile this solution with vs2010. 2) Register dll with esriregasm 3) open arccatalog and create a feature class 4) select type class 'TimeStamper class' 5) select type of feature class (polygon, point ect) 7) add your fields of feature class 6) in feature class you have a new tab (Timestamp Settings) where you can set field created, filed updated and field user (you can also set 'not used') For local geodatabases, user is the username as known by the operating system (in a domain\username format). For remote geodatabases, the IDatabaseConnectionInfo interface is utilized.

in 10.1 if you put last point = first point or you don't put last point = first point return result Ok (count n side). In 10 rest seems not check if polygon is correct (first = last) or force it (Polygon: "...A polygon contains an array of rings and a spatialReference. Each ring is represented as an array of points. The first point of each ring is always the same as the last point ...") so result area is Ok while lenght use n-1 side. In 10.1 however force it. without: http://servicesbeta2.esri.com/arcgis/rest/services/Geometry/GeometryServer/areasAndLengths?sr=102100&polygons=%5B%7B%0D%0A+%22rings%22+%3A+%5B%0D%0A+%5B%5B0%2C100%5D%2C%0D%0A+%5B100%2C100%5D%2C%0D%0A+%5B100%2C0%5D%2C%0D%0A+%5B0%2C0%5D%5D%0D%0A+%5D%0D%0A%7D%5D&lengthUnit=&areaUnit=&calculationType=planar&f=pjson with: http://servicesbeta2.esri.com/arcgis/rest/services/Geometry/GeometryServer/areasAndLengths?sr=102100&polygons=%5B%7B%0D%0A+%22rings%22+%3A+%5B%0D%0A+%5B%5B0%2C100%5D%2C%0D%0A+%5B100%2C100%5D%2C%0D%0A+%5B100%2C0%5D%2C%0D%0A+%5B0%2C0%5D%2C%5B0%2C100%5D%5D%0D%0A+%5D%0D%0A%7D%5D&lengthUnit=&areaUnit=&calculationType=planar&f=pjson

in rest 10.1 you have orderByFields ( http://servicesbeta2.esri.com/arcgis/sdk/rest/query.html ) so you can order for your fields. I haven't tried but oids should be in order of result of query.

...ArcGIS Server map services limit the number of records that can be returned by a query to 1,000 by default. Keep this value or lower it for best performance with queries. You can change the number of allowable result records by editing the MaxRecordCount property in the map service configuration file. Use caution if you raise the default value. Queries that return more than 2,000 records require the software to create scratch workspaces in your system TEMP directory to manage the result records. This can cause performance to degrade...
