This video is a quick introduction to COGOing a traverse in ArcGIS Pro. For more help and examples read the help documentation. See previous video on GeoNet to learn how to Enable COGO on a line feature class (it's really easy).

It is easy to create a COGO enabled line feature class. See attached video. To learn more about the geoprocessing tool read this documentation. Why Enable COGO? All your entered measurements are stored as attributes. When a COGO enabled line feature class is added to the map it comes with great default symbology and labeling. Label expression is configurable. .

Apologies to all of you. Tasks should NOT disappear! We are having trouble reproducing this issue - so if anyone has a reproducible case please share. From what we can tell the task item, that is stored in the project (aprx file), no longer exists. So you end up with a project that reference a task item that no longer exists (hence the broken source). Until we fix it please save a backup: save the task item to a task file. Use Attribute Rules in ArcGIS Pro to add a Calculation rule using the Arcade scripting language. To add a new Calculation rule use the geoprocessing tool 'Add Attribute Rule'. You can learn more about Arcade here and find useful examples of calculation fields here. For your example it should look something like this: $feature.Building_number + $feature.Street_number You can define the rule to run when you Insert and modify the feature. More string manipulation can be found here If you are using ArcMap or File geodatabase you can use the Attribute Assistant Add-In from Attribute Assistant | ArcGIS Solutions

The Copy and Paste commands in ArcGIS Pro are contextual. That means that if you Copy features the map must be in focus (highlighted) when you Paste them. The issue is that the focus returns to the Tasks pane when you press Run or Next. But... There is an easy workaround: use the geoprocessing tool Append (Data Management) to append the selected features into the target feature class. You might want to add a verification action to make sure there is a valid selection (more than one feature but less than X) - this way you will not append all the features if the selection is empty.

Currently there is no geoprocessing tool or a geoprocessing script tool that can do that. One idea that comes to mind is exporting all the control points (maybe this step can be skipped), then running the geoprocessing Near tool to find the points that are closest to the control and then the geoprocessing XY To Line to generate line feature classes. You can then import all the lines as connection lines using the geoprocessing Load a Topology to a Parcel Fabric. The last help links also covers importing connection lines: The [Line feature class] Must Be Covered By Boundary Of [Polygon feature class] rule can be marked as an exception if the line is being migrated as a connection line or road centerline to the parcel fabric. Connection lines are lines that connect parcel points to control points or lines that connect blocks of parcels. If a line is being migrated as a connection line, there should be a Category field on the source lines attribute table and the category value should be set to 3 (for connection line). More help documentation can be found under Loading Road centerlines. The automatic creation of connection lines is on the product road map.

Hello Bob Folsom, The missing functionality you have stated will be introduced to Pro in future releases as well as new functionality that never existed. This includes: Proportion Ground to Grid correction Basis of bearing correction Offset line Cul de sac COGO area Curve calculator More... Our goal is to make you and other map technicians that enter data from measurements on a daily basis more efficient by reducing mouse clicks and relying on a single hand to enter the data. We understand that it might take a while to get used to a more efficient methodology after working in ArcMap for so many years. If you are using the latest release of Pro you will find you can modify existing traverse and save your edits at any point of time. Run the geoprocessing tool "Enable COGO", then add the line feature class to your map and you get a symbology and labeling that is designed for COGO entry. It also allows you to perform arithmetic operations within the traverse grid. In the meantime please continue to provide feedback and enter new ideas for the missing functionality so everybody can vote on them. This helps the development team to prioritize the implementation schedule.

Hello All, We (Tasks development team) do plan to publish the tasks we uses in the technical workshop in the UC as well as other samples in the future. For the meantime, many esri solutions are making extensive use of tasks for different industries and functional areas that might relate to you. Here are a few: Local Government 3D Basemaps Shadow Impact Analysis Opioid Awareness Maps Campus Viewer tools Military Overlay Military Aspects of Terrain For SDK (embedding your custom pane in tasks) - ArcGIS Solutions Deployment Tool ... You can also contact esri technical support for any question. Once you have a great task, it would be great if you use it to share your knowledge with others on ArcGIS Online. Amir
