I have rendered tens of millions of vertices from multi-part polygons in a hosted feature layer without too many issues (bit of performance lag). Most browsers have settings that can bump up memory allocation. You might also want to look into any complex font or dictionary styles you are using.

ArcGIS Enterprise Portal allows you to set showForgotUsername: false in the config.js and it also allows you to disable the ability for users to create built-in accounts via the portal organisation settings page. What is missing is the ability to disable the "forgot password" interface. Using this interface allows someone to confirm/deny the existence of accounts within the identity store even if that identity is within the built-in store or a 3rd party identity store (e.g. ldap).

When publishing a hosted feature layer from ArcGIS Pro, if the display field uses a different field to the title of the pop-up then the pop-up title is not honoured. For example, if the display field automatically defaults to the field {name} and you configure the layer popup to use the field {title} then the resulting hosted feature layer will have a popup of {name}. Is this by design? Should all published layers have their properties > display configured to be similar to the popup config?

I have upgraded the underlying Windows Server OS of various ArcGIS Enterprise components without any issues. Take snapshots and test in your QA environment first but we had no issues (30+ virtual machines).

I have encountered this issue before and the solution was to present a simple custom web page which could handle a healthcheck request. One issue we saw in particular is that the ALB expects a 400 error (or similar) to fail-over but the error page(s) from portal or server would return 200 despite "the arcgis server is down" being the contents.

- Are referenced layers causing calls to go to our SDE/Default SQL GDB and potentially slowing down editors' access to the same data? A referenced map or feature service does have a connection to your enterprise geodatabase. Depending on the use case, it may slow down other connections to the database. For example, your map service may allow complex querying of the data. - If we 'copy' the data to the Portal (and not choose referenced), will changes editors make on the SQL GDB automatically appear or does one then need to set up regular 'syncing'? A hosted feature layer is no longer associated with the enterprise geodatabase. You could delete the entire database and it would not impact the HFL. There are multiple ways to achieve what you want so it is hard to provide advice. I would recommend going with the easiest option - a simple map service pointing to your feature classes in the enterprise geodatabase. If you find that is slow then you could look into having a view or read-only db permissions. You could also use child replicas to export out file geodatabases which can subsequently be used for a map service. You could also run automated ETL scripts to update the HFL based on the contents of the egdb feature classes. There are lots of options and it is a common requirement amongst the community.

ArcGIS Monitor 2023.1 currently uses a built-in identity story which is not encouraged by security. It would help if ArcGIS Monitor was able to integrate with AD and/or LDAPS for identity management and RBAC. For example, an AD group could be linked to a collection.
