Today, right now, is another instance of analysis not working. I can't do a simple 10-min drive time on a handful of points. I get a progress indicator, and then it ends with dialog box stating "Error" only. I am on deadline, and 5 minutes of work is impossible. I've logged in and out, tried different machines, etc. Same.

Wow! Thanks! I will test when I get back on site and back to that work. So, an actual bug or hive processing error? I never thought of that... I will answer when I get a chance. I have not experienced another error in the last 2 weeks on drivetimes or other stuff...but the syndrome is always the same: a valid and needed analysis is set up, even an easy one, and it never completes. Sometimes logging in and out helps. Sometimes not. When it happens, it is a real bummer...we simply can't do our work, which is often on short deadlines. Thank You, I'll answer back when I get a chance.

I get similar from time to time--exactly when I am on a deadline. Analysis tools simply don't complete. You can leave them all night, still won't complete. Even a mundane calculation like a drive time will hang...no errror message, just the rotating cursor next to the greyed out new layer the function is creating. Logging in or out, sometimes helps, sometimes not. Can happen at work on any of my various computers, or at home on my Mac. Firefox and Chrome...when it happens...it happens...and very frustrating. Did you ever get a good answer to your query?

Yeah. I let a "summarize within" run overnite, and it still didn't complete. All it had to do was find the points of around 10k points that were in a 20-mile radius circle. But it has also happened on mundane analysis functions like creating a drive-time. I couldn't get "summarize" to run, but I could get "aggregate" to work. I got my numerical answer, but never got my point set to go along with it. I've seen several other analysis questions posted the last few days...something must be going on.

Anybody having lots of difficulty completing calculations done with analysis functions? Very often the last few months it seems like when I kick off a calculation, drive time, aggregation, etc. it will start off fine, but never complete. The little "working" revolver just keeps on going forever. Often the layer will appear in the content, and looks ok, but later checks show that the calculation is wrong. E.g. I know there's 50 dots in the area, but the incomplete layer shows only 35. Clearly they are not completing. I can log in and out, do lots of stuff, but it doesn't seem to help except randomly. And it is the same from work vs at home--home is on a Mac with Firefox. Work is Chrome latest 64-bit version. What is going on? Today I blew about 50 credits on junk answers. How do we fix this? If I were to let it run for an hour or so, sometimes it will complete...but that is ridiculous. These calculations should take maybe 30 or 45 seconds. Thank You.

I need to get the business points for large employers in my area. However, if you recall, the flow for BAO starts out with asking if you want to narrow by NAICS or include all. I need to include all. Then it populates the map, to the limit of 5000 businesses. Only then can I say I only want firms with 100+ employees or something. So I know most of my targets will not be there, since they got clipped off by the limit of 5000 points. Is there any way to put the limit of 100+ employers first, then I will never even hit 1000 points. It's like the query flow is sort of backwards for a lot of searches.

Yes, I know. You literally just restated my problem. I was hoping there were some other tricks or something. Maybe I should post this on the "ideas" site.

Wow, cool. I'm having a LOT of UX and functionality problems with the new map viewer--seems way to immature to have released? Of course, I do mostly calculations, which are not even supported yet. It's like the new one is mostly for styling?

Thanks, good tip. That Excel file is way better organized than all the various web pages on ESRI. Sadly, it still gets down to the same information, which doesn't tell me for sure what is counted and what isn't. Cheers!

Thank for the reply. It's not the MATH part that I need the exact definitions on, it is the content. E.g. for this "health insurance" metric, does that mean the projected # of people in the selected geography includes ALL types of "medical insurance", inclusive of medicare and medicaid? Or is it just all commercial insurance? It's kind of like if there was a generic-sounding "owns a car" variable, but you couldn't determine if it that included pickups and SUVs or something. I have heard back from a support item that it is ALL insurance--but it doesn't look like it. But, that's the response. It's somewhat similar to some ACS data, but yields totally different results. Thanks!

Yes, true. Thanks for the reply! It is a "market potential" literally, but I need to know if it excludes in the survey those that have Medicare or Medicaid from the denominator, so to speak.

How can I get the exact definition of one of ESRI's variables I have used for enrichment. I have used the variable The variable "MP18050a_B 2020 Carry medical or hospital or accident insurance" for a project. The variable says it returns the number of people in the selected area that have health insurance. But I need to know the exact definition of the variable. It is about health insurance, but does it mean only commercial health insurance, or does it also mean the resultant number is for Medicare and Medicaid also?

Is BAO messed up? It won't put on boundaries? Tries for awhile, then reports "Can't show boundaries because of server error" on everything.

Not sure if this will help, but AGOL has been "acting funny" for me for about 3 months. Not refreshing, drawing properly, orange warning message about not being able to draw everything--on a layer with 7 features only. Calculations failing to start or finish. Zooming in and out, or logging out, logging back in seems to clear it for a little while, anyways.
