Ben - Less than one quarter of the samples in the current Interactive Silverlight SDK operate in the WGS84 spatial reference.  While map content in WGS84 tiled services on ArcGIS Online is not being updated, and some are being retired, the functionality demonstrated in the Silverlight samples remains valid.  In fact, in some cases working in geographic coordinates has provided a more cognitive example for understanding functionality (e.g. manually creating graphics). That said, we are and have been updating samples periodically to reference basemap layers in Web Mercator.  This will continue where appropriate.  The Address Matching samples you mention in this post have been updated to use a Web Mercator basemap.  Unfortunately the locators hosted by ArcGIS Online are still operating on ArcGIS Server 9.3.1 servers, so the simplest solution is not yet available when using them (merely setting the output spatial reference for the locator task).  Hope this helps. ... Thanks for the log.  A couple questions�?� 1)    In the setup, do you get to the panel that shows the license agreement? 2)    Have you tried unblocking the exe?  (right click, go to properties > General tab, click Unblock)  If not, try it and see if you�??re able to run through the setup. 3)    Have you tried explicitly running the exe as an administrator?  (right click, select �??Run as administrator�?�) 4)   Did you have ArcGIS Silverlight/WPF 1.x installed on this machine in the past?   5)  What ESRI products do you have installed currently? From the command line, run regsvr32 C:\windows\system32\vbscript.dll. if it registers successfully, run the setup again. Let me know if this works ... View more

Pat,   The log file you provided gives some insight into the problem, but we'll need some additional details.  To capture verbose details on the installation process, please do the following: Enable windows installer logging by creating a registry key. Use this doc to add the key: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223300 Once enabled, start the Silverlight/WPF install and step through it until it fails. Unfortunately we've been unable to reproduce the problems mentioned in this forum thread regarding the ArcGIS SharePoint 1.1.1 product on SharePoint 2010.  On that note, ESRI will release version 2.0 of the ArcGIS SharePoint product for SharePoint 2010 in late September.   All active development for the SharePoint 2010 platform is going into the 2.0 product.   We do have a limited beta program for ArcGIS SharePoint 2.0.  Let me know if you would like to participate.        Thanks -Rex Hansen Esri | Product Lead, ArcGIS SharePoint [email protected] ... Here are a few follow-up questions: 1) Under Control Panel > Programs and Features do you see any program named "ArcGIS API for Microsoft Silverlight/WPF..."? 2) Have you installed a 2.0 beta version of the ArcGIS Silverlight/WPF API?  3) Where does the installation fail?  Do you get an error message?  If so, what is the error? 4) What is the size of the setup you downloaded from the ArcGIS resource center?  For example, for ArcGIS Silverlight/WPF v2.0, what is the size of the ArcGISSilverlightWPF20.exe you downloaded? In general, the first layer in the map's layers collection will set the map's spatial reference.  If the spatial reference of a tiled map service layer does not match the spatial reference of the map, it will not display.   Bing Maps tiled map services host map data in the Web Mercator projection which is represented as a spatial reference with a well-known ID (WKID) of 102113.   If the Bing Maps layer is first, the USGS Topographic layer (if a tiled map service) must have a spatial reference that matches a WKID for Web Mercator (102113,102100,3857).   If it does not, it will not display.   The reverse also applies (USGS layer first, Bing second). ... This behavior usually indicates something changed in the data source.  Just to clarify your statement "The layer displays fine as points on the map, the spatial reference appears to be correct, and when debugging, we can see that the graphics layer is being populated with the data. It just does not display."   So just to confirm, does the XY event layer display successfully as points using marker symbols when clustering is not applied? Have you tried using the default clusterer?  Does it work? No.  The ArcGIS Silverlight API is designed to work with ArcGIS Server services via REST, which was first introduced with ArcGIS Server 9.3.   To use SOAP services (ArcGIS Server and otherwise) in Silverlight, you need to generate the client side proxies.  The .NET SDK and Silverlight SDK include a SOAP toolkit to generate the proxies for you.  New in Silverlight 3 (and available in 4) is the SlSvcUtil command line utility to generate SOAP proxies for the Silverlight platform.  You'll find the utility in %Program Files%\Microsoft SDKs\Silverlight\v4.0\Tools.   You can download the wsdls for ArcGIS Server 10 services here: http://help.arcgis.com/EN/arcgisserver/10.0/apis/soap/Pre-generated_proxies.htm Once you have the wsdls, you can use SlSvcUtil.exe to generate a single class that contains all the proxies and value object types: SlSvcUtil.exe *.wsdl /language:CS /namespace:"*,ESRI.ArcGIS.SOAP.Silverlight" /out:ESRI.ArcGIS.SOAP.Silverlight.cs Note the parameter "*.wsdl" which indicates that all wsdl files in the current directory will be processed.  You will see a series of errors indicating that numerous types have already been declared.  This is expected since the same types are defined in multiple wsdls - you can ignore the error.  At this point you can use VS2010 or csc.exe to build a Silverlight library from the cs file.  You can download an example Silverlight-ArcGIS Server SOAP app here: http://rexhansen.com/2009/01/consuming-arcgis-server-soap-services.html   It's an old post, but the code still applies.
