It sounds like a graphics card display issue. Which graphics card do you have? Thanks, Mark

If the sid images are displaying in the correct location in ArcMap you can use ArcToolBox to define a coordinate system for the sid. ArcGIS Explorer needs all data to have a defined coordinate system in order to display it.

In ArcMap if you look at the spatial reference for the imagery layer (layer properties -> source tab) it likely says 'Undefined' If you know coordinate system that your landsat imagery is in, you can use ArcToolBox to define the coordinate system for the layer. In toolbox use Data Management tools -> Projections and Transformations -> Define Projection Once the spatial reference is defined it will open in ArcGIS Explorer.

At the moment the only way to provide the ArcGIS Explorer desktop presentation, without installing GIS software, would be to capture a video of it and share the video.

You have to use ArcGIS Explorer Desktop to play the presentation. The presentation is stored in the ArcGIS Explorer Map (NMF). If the data used to create the map is also accessible to the user, you can just share the NMF with another. They open the NMF in ArcGIS Explorer and play the presentation. Here is an example: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=79d977725651430fbe791ac8d5d46c88 Mark

You are correct it is automatically hidden along with the geometry field. Why do your users need to see the ObjectID? This is something we could look into getting changed for a future release. Thanks, Mark

In some cases this issue will occur for 10.1 as well. The next version of ArcGIS Explorer Desktop will have a reload/replace option for the user to help mitigate this. We will inform the ArcGIS Explorer user that the package contents have been updated and ask them to load the updated package.

In the scenario where you overwrite layer packages that are referenced in ArcGIS Explorer maps.. ArcGIS Explorer will see the layer package as broken if the structure, layer Count, Layer names, layer order change inside of the package. this is because ArcGIS Explorer is trying to persist how the layers withing the layer package were ordered in the ArcGIS Explorer map. If ArcGIS Explorer encounters a mis-match, something about the number of layers or names that it cannot re-hook to the map the broken dialog appears. You can easily re-create and see this by: In ArcMap Add a Layer named 'original' Create a Layer package with one layer name "LayerPackage.lpk" Open LayerPackage.lpk in ArcGIS Explorer Save the Map as your Default map. Close ArcGIS Explorer Back in ArcMap.. change the layer name 'original' to 'New Name' Package the layer overwriting "LayerPackage.lpk" Start ArcGIS Explorer The Layer in ArcGIS Explorer will be broken. The above also explains why overwriting 9.3.1 layer packages with version 10 layer packages does not work in ArcGIS Explorer. Internally we changed the name of the layers to account for ordering issues that we had with the original 9.3.1 packages. In a future ArcGIS Explorer release we will look into providing an option to repair/reload packages that are "broken" due to the mismatch of content in the package. Going forward, if you overwrite packages ensuring that the exact same layers (same layer order) are in the package, it will work as desired.

Tony, I am not sure what could be causing the problem. Do you see the problem in both 2D and 3D? Did you set the properties for the layer in ArcMap? What were the properties that you set? Could you share the package or a package that shows the problem on ArcGIS.com? Thanks, Mark

I would expect 1750 to be the same as 1700 in regards to basemaps. When you start ArcGIS Explorer it writes basemap 'cache' to %tmp%\E3\httpwww.esri.comsoftwarebasemapsbasemaps Do you see basemaps in this folder on the machine that is having problems? Does the user account have write access to this location? Mark

Don, In most cases it is the graphics card or graphics card driver. Often updating the graphics card driver resolves the issue, but this is not always the case, or even possible... depending on graphics cards and computer manufacturer. As mentioned in the previous reply to this post the system check utility is a good place to start. It will report your current graphics card. The firtst step is to update the driver, if possible. In general NVIDEA and ATI graphics cards tend to work, driver updates usually resolve issues. Integraged Intel graphics cards have mixed results and applicable driver updates are spotty, especially in older models.. Mark

Jane, Think of the application configuration as being the map. When you make a change to the NMF, you will need to modify the application configuration and add the updated NMF to it. Your 50+ people access the application configuration. All you have to do is update the configuration with the latest version of the map. Mark

The default map still opens after making changes to the NMF that the config points to. The config does not point to an NMF file. When you create the configuration and set the map to open, the Map/NMF is copied into the configuration. It is part of the configuration. If you update the configuration, users of the configuration should see the new map that you have put into the configuration. Maybe this explains what your are experiencing. The configuration needs to be updated with the new map. Modify the configuration and add the new map that you want your users to see. Mark
