I have some extra questions for you. Do you have a GIS background (i.e. do you understand GIS programming workflows)? Do you have a programming background for any language? Have you ever used JavaScript? Are you familiar with web development? What type of learning environment do you prefer? Classes where someone walks you through the materials, books where you can read the materials on your own, online videos where you can watch someone going through the materials, etc.

Have you tried adding another global variable to store the value in the other field so that you can check to see if it changed? You'd also need to add another variable to the expression to pass in the id value.

I don't this is possible within ModelBuilder. I believe the rematch window is only accessible via the GUI.

You will want to use the JavaScript version of this API. This API will be moving to JavaScript and the WPF sdk will end its support sometime next year. This is noted in the following proceedings. I was using this approach to give each toolbox a unique alias. After creating a guid, I used this function to remove any special characters that may cause problems, such as dashes which would be replaced with underscores.
