It should already be happening automatically when you create a service, but have you tried clearing the REST cache?

You can't mix 64 and 32-bit components like this. You will need to change your SOE to 32-bit (i.e. x86 target) in order to reference a 32-bit DLL, or obtain a copy of the external DLL that has been compiled for 64-bit.

Scott, The exact cause for "Stopping..." services and the "ArcGIS Server is currently being configured by another administrative operation..." message are hard to attribute to any one thing, but you may be able to un-deadlock your ArcGIS Server and services by removing any .glock files in the "locks" directory in the config-store. In my experience, I have never had an ArcGIS Server upgrade go smoothly, even for seemingly simple service packs. There was always something with Stopping services or the like. Things always ironed themselves out after enough reboots and a bit of attention to that "locks" directory between restarts of ArcGIS Server.

Hi Kristin, When I can't find what I'm looking for in the ArcObjects SDK documentation, I resort to tools like Reflector to help glean a bit more information about the available classes, their inheritance hierarchy, interfaces implemented, etc. That is where I scrounged out the UUID for the IdentifyWindowCommandClass. Of course, these tools only take you so far with regard to .NET assemblies and the underlying COM objects. Either way, I think ultimately you will be hard-pressed to get a hook to the actual Identify tool/command window, let alone its context menu. It's possible this context menu is exposed through the ICommandBars interface, but without the ability to iterate over that collection (as you noted), you would need the specific UUID and in my digging with Reflector I never found an appropriate-sounding class or interface.

Hi Matthes, This is good info. Have you done anything to determine what could be the root-cause of the DB server connection failures? And to be clear, have you reproduced this problem in your Test environment against the MS SQL 2008 database? There could be some clues in the SQL Server logs. Also, is there anything special about the credentials you are using to connect to the datasources of each layer in the published Map document? I presume the different layer datasources use a connection that matches one registered with ArcGIS Server? And finally, the first error message logged: "Processing request took longer than the usage timeout for service 'EEA/AirQualitySos.MapServer'. Server request timed out. Check that the usage timeout is appropriately configured for such requests." Are you using the default service usage timeout or has this been configured differently?

Hi Matthes, Nice sleuthing with the separate observer thread for grabbing the stack-trace. Now I'm curious about your code. Can you share the lines performing the query and iteration over the cursor results?

Kristin, I believe the UUID you're looking for is "20C52011-97C1-43BB-988D-7DD5E0096A62", which corresponds to IdenitfyWindowCommandClass. That said, getting a hook to the context menu available from this window is a different matter. The closet match I've seen in code or documentation is {CC0DCD29-DE5E-11D3-9FF8-00C04F6BC8DD} esriArcMapUI.GeometryElementContextMenu Hope these thoughts get you moving in the right direction.

Have you tried the call to Search with recycling = false? The name of that parameter and its related documentation make it sound very appealing, but I have ran into more problems than not when using recycling = true. As you mentioned, you're already releasing the row object after each iteration, so your memory footprint should remain fairly stable as the while-loop executes.

Hi Matthes, I observed a similar sounding problem with a .NET SOAP SOE where long-running calls would simply end. No exceptions caught; no ArcGIS Server log entries; just, nothing. Ultimately, I had to convert the long-running functions of the SOE into Geoprocessing tools and a Geoprocessing service, which are supposedly more appropriate for intensive operations that take more than a couple seconds. Everything worked smoothly after making this conversion. I don't know how appropriate a change like this would be for your particular situation, but the problem sounded familiar and I wanted to share my experience.

Matt, If the previously mentioned solutions do not resolve the problem, you can always just rename the ArcGISConnectionBin.exe file. No more hourglass/flicker in AGX then.

Hi Kirk, I do not have a network dataset or the supporting objects to test this, but I believe what you want to do is cast your INetworkLoader3 object as INetworkLoaderProgress_Events and subscribe to the Step and PutMessage events. Inside the event-handlers is where you could presumably add your logic for updating the UI with progress info for the user. For example: INetworkLoader networkLoader = new NetworkLoaderClass(); (networkLoader as INetworkLoaderProgress_Event).Step += NetworkLoader_Step; (networkLoader as INetworkLoaderProgress_Event).PutMessage += NetworkLoader_PutMessage; protected void NetworkLoader_Step() { // Update UI here. } protected void NetworkLoader_PutMessage(esriNetworkLoaderProgress progress, string message) { // Update UI here. }

Hello Hab, I believe the answer to your question is "No." Technically speaking, a "Feature Service" is not a separate service type but rather an optional "capability" that can be enabled on a Map Service. When it comes to consuming the Feature Service (i.e. as User), it makes sense to explicitly list it; for administration purposes, any enabled Feature Service falls under the umbrella of the parent Map Service. The downside, of course, is that an Admin or Publisher user has no immediate visual indication of which Map Services are also Feature Services. This could be a good improvement recommendation for Esri.

Hi Michael, You are most likely running into this change in the REST API at 10.2: New in 10.2 where parameter value must conform to the standardized queries, if the layer / table resource advertises useStandardizedQueries is true. Learn more about standardized queries. "ArcGIS Server includes a security option that forces developers to use standardized SQL queries when working with map, feature, image, and WFS services through REST or SOAP. This makes it easier for developers and applications to query ArcGIS Server services and helps prevent SQL injection attacks. Standardized queries are enforced by default, but can be disabled by the server administrator." Disabling standardized queries If you need to use database-specific where clause statements in your application, you can disable standardized queries by accessing the ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory. To do so, follow the instructions below. Caution: By disabling this security option, your site becomes more vulnerable to SQL injection attacks. Steps: Open the Administrator Directory and log in with a user that has administrative permissions to your site. The Administrator Directory is typically available athttp://gisserver.domain.com:6080/arcgis/admin. Click system > properties > update. On the Operation - update page, enter the following string into the System Properties dialog box: {"standardizedQueries": "false"} Click Update. Restart ArcGIS Server.
