Xander, thanks for sharing your knowledge on Attribute Assistant, it has great functions. Only drawback I feel is that it has to be installed on each arcgis desktop machine and users have control to turn on or off. Henceforth, I will work on database triggers... thanks!

Hello, I want to create a unique field which will have concatenated value of "OBJECTID" & "AREA_CODE" (user defined field). Using field calculator I can calculate the field for existing records but I want the same formula to be applied for new features getting created. We are using ArcGIS Desktop 10.3, Oracle : 12.1.0.2 and storage type: SDE.ST_GEOMETRY. Any help would be appreciated!

but I think there is restriction in editing from spatial view in ArcMAP, Users work in ArcMAP and they won't be able to edit attributes on child table which are different from parent attributes and need spatial location for reference to update their data. is there any other possible way to achieve this. Thanks

Hello, Arcgis 10.3, Oracle RDBMS: 12.1.0.2... is there a way for two feature class (say parent and child) to share same geometry shape but have their own set of attributes? New features created or updated on parent feature class share its geometry shape to child feature class but not any of its attributes.

Hello, ArcSDE: 10.3 Oracle: 12.1.0.2 Charset: AR8MSWIN1256 Our parent GDB contains feature class that has one field storing Arabic text. After Syncing with child GDB, in child GDB, some of parcels value text is missing and it is showing question mark symbol (?) in replacement for some of the parcels. Checked in at SQL level as well but shows the same result. Other field values are intact that are stored in English. As parent GDB has data present, it looks like during sync operation it replaced those Arabic text into symbol (?). Also, this has affected only 4-5 parcels, other parcels has values in Arabic. Both of GDB's having same database properties and same ArcSDE version. Would anyone please help me on this. Thanks!!!

ArcMap Desktop: 10.4 SDE: 10.3 RDBMS: Oracle 12.1.0.2 After compressing GDB we are encountering below error while saving changes to our DEFAULT version. "Unable to reconcile: the target version is currently being reconciled against" Users are not able to save their edits and have to stop their edits. There is no other version created or used by anyone. Is there a bug on SDE 10.3 because this had occur earlier as well after compression... Do we have any solution for preventing this error. Thanks!

Hello, Sync operation is taking lots of time and when I see at execution plan of query fired within it shows most of time spend is at Domain Index. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | 9 | DOMAIN INDEX (Sel: Default - Undefined) | A157_IX1 | | | 18E (0)|999:59:59 | From support, found below note: If (Sel: Default - Undefined) is reported it may indicate that there was an error generating statistics, or that the operator has been disassociated from the statistical type, such as the st_envintersects operator. I tried to gathered STATS and rebuilt index but it doesn't improve the sync time. Would anyone please help on this.

Hello Asrujit, I tried using disconnected sync but seems it takes alot of time similar to connected sync (more than 2 hours). I am facing slowness only on extent boundaries replica sync. Even it seems its hung on ArcMap session, but internally on DB side, its on event of retrieving data. Even if there are few changes inserted, it takes long time to retrieve. Is there any way to improve sync process on extent based replicas ? Thanks!

I haven't tried disconnected sync. Not sure whether it will sync complete changes or from last sync state.

Hello, ArcSDE v. 10.3 RDBMS: Oracle Db Enterprise 12c (12.1.0.2) We have replicas with full extent and some with extent to their city boundaries. Full extent replica synchronizes successfully even if I sync it in same day or after few days or even a week. Extent based replica synchronizes successfully if I sync in same day or a gap of two days. But if I skip sync for more days (say 4 days) it fails with error "ORA-03114 not connected to Oracle" error after processing data. As there is loads of transactions saved daily, thus size of data transfer increases and as per my understanding, for extent boundaries replicas, data filtering before transfer causes long wait and thus results in error. It took more than 4 hours to filter data and then sync failed. Attached error screenshot FYR... There is no connection timeout configuration done on Oracle side. Will anyone please help me whether its a bug or any connection settings need to be done to prevent the same error. Thanks, Hitesh

Not sure how it was causing slowness but after compressing the gdb AGAIN the issue seems to be solved. Only one of FC was culprit.. After compressing the GDB, I used to query SDE.COMPRESS_LOG to check compression status and SDE.VERSIONS table to check the DEFAULT state. From there I finds STATE_ID of the default version. Thank you for your assistance.

Recently we fully compressed our Oracle GDB to bring it back to STATE 0. Later updated STATS and Rebuilt Indexes. But now users are complaining for slow performance while editing and saving. One of feature of type Annotation is extremely slow while edit and save. Please suggest on how we can improve performance.

Hello, I am testing a scenario where if I drop a field on Archive enabled dataset it also deletes the same field on Archive table. But I wanted to preserve that field and its data on Archive table. Is it possible ? I would not likely to disable archiving before deleting a field and re-enable it again as dropping a field can be done anytime and by anyone who is not aware of Archiving. Also, is it possible to use the same archive table again after re-enabling Archive for same dataset ?

No response yet This error comes daily and only have workaround to close the blocking session. User complaints for login issue and unable to save edits because of lock error. ESRI Staff: Would you please give some idea why exclusive locks are held on STATE_ID of DEFAULT version. Any troubleshooting steps or any patch to fix this issue.
