Hello, I am testing a scenario where if I drop a field on Archive enabled dataset it also deletes the same field on Archive table. But I wanted to preserve that field and its data on Archive table. Is it possible ?

I would not likely to disable archiving before deleting a field and re-enable it again as dropping a field can be done anytime and by anyone who is not aware of Archiving.

Also, is it possible to use the same archive table again after re-enabling Archive for same dataset ?

No, once you have disabled Archiving on the data, you cannot use the old Archive table while re-enabling Archiving again. Enhancements have been logged for this functionality.

NIM050307 - Option to attach the old archive table (_h) back to the original feature class on re-enabling archiving

The only option seems to be taking a separate backup of the History Table before you delete any field.
