Darlene - interesting...I'm assuming your rasters are in the same projection, correct? If you're interested, you can send me your rasters to rleclair at esri dot com. I can work with the scenario and attempt to resolve it. Please advise.

Darlene - Would this work in the tool GUI: Input conditional raster: CORRECTED_DEM Expression: NOT("VALUE" IS NULL) Input true raster: CORRECTED_DEM Input false raster: ORIGINAL_DEM Good luck! Robert LeClair Esri-Denver

Dave - The fastest and easiest way to populate your subtype field is use "Select by Attributes" and select the records based on a particular attribute value. For example, Type = "Interstate". From there, use the Field Calculator and calculate the subtype field to the appropriate subtype code (i.e. Subtype_Field = 1) Do this workflow for the remaining 14 subtype codes. There are other ways to select features as well - manual approach and then use the Field Calculator. Hope this helps! Robert LeClair Esri-Denver

Stephanie - I'm not a VB Script or Python person and I'm sure there's some code that would do it easier than my suggestion. There's the Standardize Addresses that breaks up your addresses into multiple fields. From there you can create a new address field and concatenate the address fields you wish to keep into one field and delete the rest. Good luck! Robert LeClair Esri-Denver

Nicolai - by chance are you using VBA code blocks for the field calculations? These are no longer supported in the ArcGIS v. 10 field calculator. Possible workaround: Use Python or VB Script code blocks in the Field Calculator. Another possibility is to request a VBA authorization file from Esri keycodes - http://blogs.esri.com/Dev/blogs/arcgisdesktop/archive/2009/10/28/ArcGIS-Desktop-and-VBA_3F00_.aspx Good luck! The workflow IsNull and Con functionality outlined here: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#//009z000000ms000000.htm could be combined in ModelBuilder and run as a single process. The user would set the necessary parameters for input to apply to different input raster datasets. Just a thought... Regards, Robert LeClair Esri-Denver

Hi Ferran - Instead of the raster calculator, I would use the CON geoprocessing tool in the Spatial Analyst toolbox. The syntax for the GP tool would be as follows: in_conditional_raster = your input raster in_true_raster_or_constant = 0 in_false_raster_or_constant = your input raster where_clause = VALUE IS NULL If the raster cell evaluates as TRUE (i.e. IS NULL), the cell gets a value of 0. Else if the raster cells evaluates FALSE (i.e. IS NOT NULL), then the raster cell gets the original input raster cell value. Good luck! Robert LeClair Esri-Denver

Do the data types for the attribute field match the data type for your domain? For example, text to text, short integer to short integer, float to float, etc... This is one reason why one would not see a coded value domain available for an attribute field. Regards, Robert LeClair Esri-Denver

I tested the downloaded data as well and had the same experience. Rebuilding raster statistics did not help. What worked is exporting it to a new GRID and voila, it worked. Hope this helps! Robert LeClair Esri-Denver

Jamie - last thing - I would encourage you to click the envelope icon on the upper right of the Fuzzy Membership help page and write the documentation team that you'd like a better explanation for this page as well as real-world examples. If they don't know that folks aren't happy with it, the likelihood of it changing much save for technical details might be small.

Michael - glad it helped but it still made me curious why the change with regard to integer and floating point. I pulled up the 9.3 Desktop Help and there's GP tools for FocalMedian as well as FocalStatistics - http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisdesktop/9.3/index.cfm?TopicName=FocalMedian that will work with integer or floating point rasters. Not 100% sure why floating point rasters were removed from this statistic type but I did find a related forum article whereby Bill Huber explains a little about the logic - http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/14213-neighborhood-focal-statistics....-without-the-statistics The "cliff" note version is that floating point rasters will support an attribute table and integer rasters do.

Michael - From the Focal Stats help - "If the input raster is of floating point type, only the Mean, Maximum, Minimum, Range, STD, and Sum statistics are available; the Majority, Minority, Median and Variety statistics are not permitted. If the input raster is of integer type, all the statistics types are available." Question - is your DEM a floating point type raster? If so, then you use the INT geoprocessing tool to change the cell format to integer and then run the Focal Stats tool for the median statistic type. Hope this helps, Robert LeClair Esri-Denver

Jamie - I did a quick look into the ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 help system and the pages looked identical to 10.0 help pages so at the moment, no major change in that realm. I did fine one help page that discusses the various "fuzzy" overlay types but I imagine you've seen this already. At the top right of each help page is a feedback button that you can write the authoring team. Perhaps you can use this to ask for additional clarification. With regard to a parameter change "preview", I'm not aware of any process that could do this other than doing what you're already doing with ModelBuilder. I did find one related idea on the ArcGIS Ideas page that perhaps may be applicable in your situation. If so, a vote is always a good thing. Sorry I can't be of more assistance. Regards, Robert
