I think we're operating at different levels here. If you helped put together that SAGIS map you linked, I know we are. Wow. That is a seriously functional site. But how did you simply make the box wider? The whole premise of this thread is that we want to be able to and can't - unless we are hosting our own customized code on our own server.

Forgive me for taking so long to reply. Your and Carmel's Questions, with my Answers: Q. Does this always happen when changing zoom levels? A. No, it only seems to be happening when I first open the map. Once I zoom or pan, the problem seems to be fixed and doesn't recur until I refresh the map, or click the Modify Map option in the upper left. And it doesn't always happen when you first open the map. (Based on only a half dozen attempts). Q. Is layer optimization enabled? A. Yes. Setting that didn't seem to change anything. Q. How many vertices are there with each layer. A. There are only two layers. The larger one has about 250,000 vertices. The smaller one maybe another 50,000. I think that counts as smallish, no? Q. Do you notice any issues if you try in other browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome). I'm running Chrome. I tried opening the map from an incognito window on a Chromebook, and the problem did happen. I successfully opened the map on an Apple without the problem, but with only one attempt, so who knows. Q. Instead of signing in, does the issue appear if you choose Modify Map: A. Yes. I was in incognito mode in a Chrome browser and opened the map. It happened to open up without any doubling problem, but went double when I clicked on Modify map. Thank you both for having looked at this, and Richard for reassuring me that it wasn't all in my head!

Thanks so much for responding! Here is a link to the Story Map in which the map appears: https://arcg.is/1bOjGv The problem occurs, sporadically, on the second and third tabs. Here is a link to one of the problem web maps in the Story Map: https://arcg.is/15K9a9 I loaded the boundary data from shapefiles from a UN agency, in what was the current version of ArcGIS Pro about 8 months ago. I did some work to modify boundaries (I merged some polygons and split others). I'm hazy on the mechanics of how I got the boundary files from Pro to On Line. I sometimes created hosted layers in Pro and opened them in On Line, and sometimes created shapefiles in Pro that I opened in On Line. I believe that the projection was WSG84 and stayed WSG84 throughout. I'd mentioned earlier that the map always seemed to render properly when I wasn't signed in to my account, but am now also seeing the problem when I am signed in. Would you suggest I try to fix the problem by deleting and recreating layers? Thanks!

Does anyone recognize this behavior in this ArcGIS On Line map? I haven't given my map anything to drink, I swear! The yellow shaded layer has shifted west by 20 odd miles. The problem will usually fix itself for a while if I zoom or pan. Sometimes the borders will drop in latitude. The problem hasn't occurred yet when I access the map without having signed into my ARC account. I haven't monkeyed with the projection. Thanks for any insight!

Using the popup configuration option doesn't let you set the width of the popup box, but gives you a lot of options to get your message out clearly in the space you have, and without asking your user to scroll back and forth. And it's easy to use. Here is the unreadable default popup for my record: Here's what it looks like after configuration. How go: Go to the Configure Pop-up option: Choose A custom attribute display: Choose CONFIGURE: A configuration dialogue box will appear. Follow your nose at this point. It's delightfully simple to use. Here, again, is what the configuration above yielded.

[Spoiler alert... I figured out what I was doing wrong. I'll leave most of it in hopes that it helps debug someone else.] I'm trying to copy a big .GEOTIF file of population grids from ArcGIS Pro out to a tile package I can use in . I'm trying to follow the docmentation that reads: Publish the GeoTIFF file as a tile service to ArcGIS Add the GeoTIFF file to ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, create a tile service from the file, and publish the service to ArcGIS . The GeoTIFF file can be used in web maps or applications. Build a tile package in ArcGIS Pro and upload to your organization Use the Create Map Tile Package geoprocessing tool to create a tile package, add the package to your organization, and publish a tile layer. 1) Open the project that contains the data you want to package. 2) Open and run the Create Map Tile Package geoprocessing tool. 3) When your tile package has finished generating... . But when I try to run the Create Map Tile Package geoprocessing tool in Pro, it failed. It took me a long time to realize that the tool was unhappy about my having a base layer as part of the map, even though it was deselected. Once I removed it altogether, the tool ran fine. P.S. Have care in setting the "Detail level" count. "Levels" are the various permissible zoom levels. I set the detail level at 1 on my first try and got a layer that only displays when I look at my map from deep space. I next set it to 20 (the max) and ran it, for the next couple of hours, until I gave up waiting and turned it off. Thirteen layers worked well.

It's going to take me a little while to absorb that answer and try it out, but it has all the markings of a great response. Thank you so much!

You are good to have gotten into the weeds and figured this out for him, but how did you figure it out? Teach the rest of us to fish, please! I live in dread of doing something that will summon the fell unanticipated log screen, and not knowing how to find the problem. All the documentation really advises is to "make sure everything is shared" and good luck.

Thanks for responding! I've now read up a bit on refreshing, and am realizing that I was too ambiguous about my CSV file. My CSV file is a text only file that I join to a set of boundaries in a feature layer using a district code. (If I'm understanding your screen shot correctly, your CSV Layer is a point file that you can render as a visible layer.) I brought my CSV file in as a 'table', like this: My CSV isn't even refreshable: It is the feature layer just above the CSV layer in my screenshot that I need to refresh. It contains the news items - sentences filched from newspapers - that I need to refresh. The news items were originally from a CSV file that I joined with a boundary file to create the feature layer. The notes sit in the layer's geodatabase like sacks of undynamic potatoes. If you have the patience to have another go at this for me, I'd be very appreciative.

I have a map on ArcGIS On Line, with a popup displaying news items. They must periodically be freshened from a Googlesheet that I maintain. So far, I've been doing the updating by completely rebuilding and configuring a duplicate of my feature layer based on a fresh CSV version of the Googlesheet I use to track the news. I post under a pseudonym so I can admit to that level of incompetence. I spend a bunch of time doing boring stuff and risk screwing something up each time. But what is the smart way? I can only find sledgehammer solutions or weak ones: - setting up my own ARC server where I can set up some sort of dynamic link, - learning Python and programming it to work with Arc Map to alter the feature layer service at the press of a button, - manually searching the attribute table and copying and pasting updates into the right rows, one by one, - manually making a duplicate of my feature layer, but with a new CSV file, cleaning out the old feature layer, and appending features from the new duplicate layer into the now empty (but properly configured) original layer. Many thank to anyone who can save me with a smarter approach!

I tried to open the map, and was asked to sign in to his account - but not before I had a second and a half view of what I'm guessing was his map. I'm not used to curtains that only close a second and half after someone tries to look thru the window. Does anyone know if that is par for the course with Arc On Line, or just an artifact of whatever is causing Jonathan's problems?

Fascinating map! I had no idea that much marine farming was going on in NZ. (Or any idea about your bug, I'm afraid). Do you really mean to be putting the names of those mooring holders out there? That sort of thing sometimes upsets the lawyers.

Here is one way to get a popup that you can enlarge in a Story Map. You embed a map into your Story Map, but not as a "Map". You embed it as a "Web page" like this: Then, when you open a popup that has too much text in it to read normally, you can enlarge it. Here is a link to a Series Map Story illustrating the issue: https://arcg.is/0LyLLe

Double check your sharing permissions for everything that supports the Story Map - any hosted layers, web maps, embeded Story Maps, everything. There are some built in checks to help remind you were you need to broaden your sharing, and the Story Maps site will check your Story Maps for sharing problems but you can't trust them to catch all sharing problems. I can't swear that sharing is your problem, but I remember swearing that sharing wasn't my problem when it was.
