I haven't seen any improvement on this for the last 5 (probably 20) years! Are there any plans on improving this functionality? I was just praising ArcMap compared to QGIS for better mapping/layout options but soon QGIS will overtake ArcMap in this!

I have set up a couple of models in Model Builder (ArcGIS 10.5.1). They all have checked the option "store relative path names". But when I copy the model to a different folder it keeps the input/output features with the same link as in the original. I expected that with relative pathnames checked it would keep the relation within the folder as it does within ArcMap. If this is not working (what is reeeeeeally annoying) - is there an easy way to change the links to match the new destination? The Workspace setting in the Environments does not help me because I am using different geodatabases for raster and vector data. I am developing these models for a client and thought I could just give them a folder with all data and the models in a toolbox and everything should work 😞

After almost 4 years I still have the same issue. Funnily, I was able to apply styles like for polygons (not raster) to my landuse after I extracted them by attribute into seperate raster files. I used the unique values symbology. Within the property window I could not change the outline but in the TOC when clicking directly on the symbol I got the nice style editor (as for polygons). (This works most of the times for me.) Edit: It has the possitive side effect that I can sort the classes for the legend manually instead of having them sorted by value.

It happened now a several times that I created a model in Model Builder (ArcMap 10.5.1) and when I try later to edit it, the model builder is not opening. I tried to open the affected models from ArcMap and also from ArcCatalog but without success. It might be that I had minimized the model builder window when closing the mxd file but I also closed all other windows hoping to find the small window for the model builder somewhere. No chance. Does anybody have an idea if there is a way to recover these models somehow? I wasted already so much time on redoing models that suddenly didn't open again. 😞 Edit: I was able to open the model in ArcGIS Pro, saved it under a new name, exported the toolbox from ArcGIS Pro to 10.5 and was then able to open the model in ArcGIS again, only that I had to fix some of the processes again. I would still be interested if there is an easier way...

I created a survey for Survey123 which stores 4 attachments with each point. After doing some testing, data online looks good but when downloading the data as a gdb I get an error code 400. It seems to be due to the "not so good" internet connection. How do other people manage a big amount of data for surveys? Does someone have experience? I am expecting to have about 730 points with each 4 pictures in the end so this will be quite some amount of data. Any advice how to deal with this problem?

I understood cqholt's answer as he found a way to rename the pictures automatically depending on other fields. It would save us a lot of time...

cqholt, the question was not "if" but "how" 😉 I am also looking for a way to do it, because I assume it can't be too difficult, but I don't know how. Maybe JTedrick-esristaff can shade a Iight on how to do it?

I would also appreciate if I could rename pictures using the answers to previous questions. E.g. I have a point id that I want to use in the filename of the picture plus e.g. pict1.

Hi James, Thanks for your feedback. My issue for my current project is more that I only need the levels 15-20. It feels like a waste of time and storage to create 15 levels that I won't need (even if those are not the ones that get heavy). In my ArcPro installation (2.1.2) I still only have up to 20 levels though. Would be great if there would be a way of chosing which scale levels I want in my package.

Is there somehow the possibility to export a map form ArcGIS Pro to ArcMap? I am trying to get used to work more in ArcGIS Pro and already find some workflows easier in ArcGIS Pro than in ArcMap. But some of our project partners are not that far yet and are still working with ArcMap. Is there somehow a way they can use my maps (except of publishing/using them in AGOL...)?

I'm trying to make myself use ArcGIS Pro but still get stuck at certain points where it's not working the way I expect it or as I was used from ArcMap... I was happy that I could import a layer file that I created in ArcMap to use the same symbology for a raster that I used before. Now I changed the symbology in ArcGIS Pro and would like to apply this one to three other rasters but I don't seem to find the right way to do it. I managed to create a colormap - but this only keeps the colors not the labels. (Besides, I find the editing of the labels very slow - while I could just jump through the rows in ArcMap to adjust the labels for my symbology, it takes long to apply the added label for each row separately. Is there a faster way to do it than in the Symbology tab?)

This one was implemented in the meanwhile. There is a settings "wheel" now next to the field where you can define if you want unique values or even values based on the query output of a previous query.
