I have been following this topic for a while now and still feel a bit lost on where things stand/are headed. My understanding is that Cartographic Representations are not and will not be supported in ArcGIS Pro. You CAN import a layer with them and view them, but there is NO support for managing them in Pro. Here is some information that might be helpful: There is a similar GeoNet post regarding this question already: can ArcGIS Pro use cartographic representation - in that post there are some potential workarounds mentioned Also, in a post titled "ArcGIS Pro: How to author map symbols?" Craig Williams mentioned the following: “The representations experience in ArcGIS Pro has also evolved into an experience working with symbol overrides on any symbology type in ArcGIS Pro.” Basically, it sounds like instead of pulling over Cartographic Representations, there will be other ways to accomplish the same goal. That said, I have had a really hard time trying to piece together what the alternative looks like. Any others tracking this topic, if there is more information about alternatives to cartographic representations/related functionality, especially how symbol overrides play into this, any information that can be shared would be VERY MUCH appreciated!

I am curious if a user can create fonts out of symbology in ArcGIS Pro. I have seen this post, which talks about importing a .style file with symbols based on custom fonts and how ArcGIS Pro responds to that; but it still doesn't really answer my question. Also, if you are wondering the basis for this question, I have been in pursuit of ideas for work-arounds for Cartographic Representations since they are not supported in ArcGIS Pro. Any information anyone can provide on any of these topics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

For clarity sake, does the product export without issue - you only have a problem when trying to view it? I was testing the export of an EPS file out of ArcGIS Pro and had issues with the application crashing during the export. I was able to isolate the issue in that particular project/map to the existence of a layer with transparency applied. I am wondering if there is a connection between the PDF issue described in the original post here and this situation I faced...

I am having a related issue that I feel is worth mentioning: ArcGIS Pro is consistently crashing when attempting to export a layout to an EPS file in a particular aprx I have. I had also tried SVG, BMP, TIFF, PDF, JPEG, and GIF formats under the exact same conditions and it worked fine. After a little trial and error, I figured out it seems to be related to a polygon layer with a transparency setting enabled. Interestingly, I added that same layer (with transparency) to (1) a layout in a different existing project with other unique data, and (2) a brand new project with only the data layers from the aprx in question, and it exported to an EPS file just fine. I witnessed this behavior with v2.2.1 and 2.2.3 and have restarted my machine along the way.

I know you cannot utilize Pantone colors directly within ArcMap. I am curious if that is something that has been added to ArcGIS Pro (not seeing it, but might just be missing it), or is in the plans to do so. Any information along these lines would be much appreciated!

Sarah Ambrose, We have been struggling to successful use the 'Copy to Data Store' tool to move data from a local machine up to the STDS. We were recently told by an Esri Tech Support member that this type of workflow was not what the STDS was meant for. Specifically, it was suggested that using non-GeoEvent data as an input from the STDS for a GeoAnalytics tool was not what it was meant to do. Honestly, this doesn't make sense to our team, nor does that seem to be reflected in the available documentation, and we would like some further clarification from you if possible. Thanks! Dalinda

I am trying to understand how the Relational Data Store and the Spatiotemporal Data Store compare when working with GeoAnalytics. The documentation (and my experience poking at things) suggests that both support inputs and outputs for geoprocessing tasks carried out by the GeoAnalytics Server. Unfortunately, I cannot find any documentation discussing the advantages of using one over the other when using the GeoAnalytics Server tools. Can anyone either point me to appropriate documentation I might have missed, or elaborate on cases where one is better to use than the other in this context? Additionally, for a more general understanding of these two data stores, are there any other differences between them other than the fact that the Spatiotemporal Big Data Store is specifically for use with ArcGIS GeoEvent Server?

In ArcCatalog, you could go into the 'ArcCatalog Options', Contents tab and add additional details about your data in the Catalog View. These details included characteristics like File Size, Number of Features, etc. Is there a way to add information specific to file size and other information like this within ArcGIS Pro Catalog View?

I have read that being able to log-in to the ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud Plug-in via Portal for ArcGIS is an option expected in future releases. What is the status of this development? Also, would this addition mean that a user could direct data being used for mapping with this plug-in through an ArcGIS Enterprise Portal for ArcGIS setup and not have to go through AGOL at all? Basically, I am trying to figure out if using Portal for ArcGIS instead of AGOL with this plug-in would be a viable workaround in cases where my client has sensitive data to map that they don't want hosted in a cloud environment.

Thanks for these useful potential workarounds Seth. Can anyone confirm that Cartographic Representations will NOT be included in ArcGIS Pro moving forward?

I have an additional question coming from this. cloveman-esristaff mentioned KML/KMZ, shp, csv, and txt files as options for consuming local data with ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud. Is there a plan to also support the file geodatabase feature class format? If not, I would encourage Esri to seriously consider it since, at least for the work myself and my clients are involved with, we use gdbs much more frequently than the other data formats listed above; I suspect we are not the only ones.

Thanks for the response cloveman-esristaff. One point of clarification...you mentioned "when this feature might show up". Is there still a question on if ArcGIS Pro exports will be able to work with ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud? I wanted to tangentially echo bixb0012 comment in that I am a bit discouraged by the lack of progress on this topic. Being able to work on ArcGIS Pro products/exports with Adobe Illustrator functionality is absolutely critical for my client, and based on the many comments posted in the Idea post on this same topic, it sounds like it is a big deal for a lot of users. I do appreciate the information you have shared and will be interested to see what news there is come the UC. Thanks!
