Hey George,  Thank you for your reply.  I apologize, I should have worded my question better. The enterprise database that I am trying to connect to is not a Geodatabase, but just a standard non spatial sql database. I have scripts that pull data from it and update feature classes and feature services elsewhere.  Yes I can connect to it in ArcGIS Pro. However, I cannot run Geoprocessing tools on any of the tables unless I first add them to my map first. I get the same message (table does not exist or is not supported). Referring to what you said about the object naming convention in Geodatabases. When I make an sde connection to this database, it sees all of the tables with the database name in front of it. Example: Migrate-Forestry.dbo.gacounties. I'm thinking the dash/hyphen is the problem. If so, do you  by chance know of a work around without renaming the database? ... View more

Hey Brook, What I ended up doing was importing my python scripts into an ArcGIS Pro tool box and saving them as geoprocessing  tools. Then I scheduled them to run nightly through Pro instead of Windows Task Scheduler and now they are running fine. The funny thing is scheduling geoprocessing tasks through Pro just adds a task in Windows Task Scheduler. I have no idea why it working this way instead of directly through Windows Task Scheduler. I had a python script open first  and then I went to open Pro before closing the script. That's when I encountered the Read Only issue. Even though I closed both programs, python was still running in the background and it was holding onto my Pro project. ... View more

I'm on Pro version 5.2 and had this same issue on a VM through remote desktop. For me what I discovered was that even though I had closed all ArcGIS Pro projects, it was still running in python. So I went into Task Manager and  closed all python background processes and this resolved the read only issue. I hope this helps someone. Michael  ... View more

Hey Ben, Those were the two things I was thinking about as well. I did change my password a couple of months ago, but I do not have any scripts running that have my user account credentials inside them. However, I do have some services where I've embedded my credentials for others to use. I need to go through and check those. Otherwise I hate the thought of someone or something trying so hard to maliciously hack my account.  Thanks for your help Ben! ... View more

Got it. I'm not a networking expert, but I think your portal needs to be public facing. In other words, you need to be able to ping it without being connected to the network. In my agency we have a internal facing router and a public facing router. To get mine to work I had my IT Staff point our Portal/GIS Server to the public router. Hope this helps. ... View more

Hey Christopher, Does your company also have an ArcGIS Online Org account? If so, you can setup a Collaboration between ArcGIS Online and Portal. If you're not familiar with Collaborations, see the link below to get you started.
